bigwhistle Posted July 15, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 15, 2014 5 days until we leave on the Oosterdam. Got a call yesterday that we can move from a SY to a Neptune for $300 per person. Today it is down to $200 per person. Is the difference in suites worth the price?

sue1898 Posted July 15, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) Yes and both concierges on the Oosterdam were terrific when we were on less than 2 weeks ago! Enjoy! Edited July 15, 2014 by sue1898
Riverpig Posted July 15, 2014 #6 Share Posted July 15, 2014 By all means grab the Suite, but beware - Once you have experienced the Suite life, it is hard to go back to a lesser cabin.
Typhoon1 Posted July 15, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 15, 2014 Good deal. If it's worth it, is only a question you can answer depending on your budget.

Rare cbr663 Posted July 15, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 15, 2014 (edited) That depends on what is important to you. The SY is already a larger cabin, and we found that the Neptune has more room that is not that useable. The larger balcony of the Neptune is nice. I suggest you review the perks and see what you like and don't. Many are available on request only, so if you don't ask, you won't receive. We didn't enjoy the Neptune Lounge at all and found it to be the most unwelcoming area on the ship. One perk that some enjoy is breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill. We much prefer our breakfast on our balcony and would gladly select that option over the PG. Depending upon your likes and tastes, that $400 extra could be used to purchase the suites amenities package for your SY cabin. That is a more worthwhile value for your money, IMO, than the Neptune Suite. Edited July 15, 2014 by cbr663
DaveOKC Posted July 15, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 15, 2014 For $200 for a 7 day cruise I would jump on it in a heartbeat, especially since you are cruising Alaska. DaveOKC

RJ2002 Posted July 16, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 16, 2014 I'd definitely take it, IF it's still available. At that price, they won't be around long.

Tampa Girl Posted July 16, 2014 #20 Share Posted July 16, 2014 For a 7-day cruise, no. For a 15-day cruise, by all means. It also depends on the itinerary. If it is a port-intensive, perhaps not.

bigwhistle Posted July 16, 2014 Author #23 Share Posted July 16, 2014 We are still holding off. I told my TA that if it gets down to $100 per person we would do it. Since the SY is the 1st suite we have ever taken advantage of, even if we don't get to the Neptune we are in for much more space than our normal cruising.
