Quincella Posted July 18, 2014 #1 Share Posted July 18, 2014 I just received a survey about a potential all-inclusive plan that I assume they're considering, or they wouldn't spend the money to do market research about it. I should have taken screen shots, but here's what I remember it said: They presented two price points: $699 or $899 per person Includes: UBP, including gratuities UDP 250 internet minutes 20 photos of any size Shore excursion credit (didn't say how much) Bottle of wine 1 free round of Bingo (3 games) 6 bottles of water Pre-paid gratuities Chocolate covered strawberries I think that's it. If I'm missing anything I can't imagine what it would be. There was no spa or casino credit, so I don't know what else they could offer. I haven't taken the time to add it up, but it wouldn't appeal to me. I don't drink enough for UBP to be worth it to me. I play Bingo about every 3rd cruise. I don't care about the strawberries. I might like the bottle of wine, but only if I could choose it. I don't usually buy photos. I don't book excursions through the ship. Anyone have any interest? And can you think of anything I might have missed? If so, I'll let you know if it was mentioned or not.

I just received that survey/similar survey for the 2nd time, they are still playing with the add on stuff, the bingo & the water were new this time around, if I remember correctly from the 1st one it was 3 excursions up to $80 each (or a credit of 80 if the excursion was more expensive) Edited July 18, 2014 by iimmie

pokerpro5 Posted July 18, 2014 #5 Share Posted July 18, 2014 (edited) UBP, including gratuities UDP 250 internet minutes 20 photos of any size Shore excursion credit (didn't say how much) Bottle of wine 1 free round of Bingo (3 games) 6 bottles of water Pre-paid gratuities Chocolate covered strawberries To be honest, this sounds like something only worth it if you're going to do the UBP. For a 7-day cruise, here are the prices: Tips: $84 UDP: $119 UBP: $394.45 if purchased in advance, $434.70 otherwise Internet: $100 So the value here is $697.45 for those 4 things. The wine (crap), 6 waters (LOL), strawberries, photos, and bingo don't have much value. I guess the photos might if you're into that, but most people I know don't bother with cruise ship photos anymore, especially with the freestyle cruise format (where most aren't dressed up). So how much is the shore excursion credit? If it's a lot, this can be a good deal if you really want all of the above. If it's something lame like $100, it's really not worth it, especially since the shore excursions are so marked up to begin with. I don't purchase the UBP so this would never appeal to me. Now if they could offer a package just including UDP, tips, and internet, then they'll have my attention. buckirj1 Posted July 19, 2014 #7 Share Posted July 19, 2014 Hmmm, first the dinner reservation thing, and now this. Something's going on...sounds like NCL might be trying to attract those who like to pre-plan and pre-pay as much as possible. That's not necessarily a bad thing, so long as it doesn't take the place of Freestyle.
SomeonesMommy Posted July 19, 2014 #8 Share Posted July 19, 2014 having more options is usually a good thing. I am sure some folks like to prepay everything and have no surprises at the end. This would be perfect for them. We would not buy this package but it would be good if they offered it for thse who like it.
caribsun Posted July 19, 2014 #9 Share Posted July 19, 2014 Not for me, my total cabin charges average less then 400.00 including tips on a 7 night cruise.
toyotaford Posted July 19, 2014 #10 Share Posted July 19, 2014 I booked a cruise earlier in the week and mentioned to the PCC that we are considering an all inclusive resort and she asked if I know NCL now offered all inclusive plans. I didn't question her about it but this must be what she was talking about.
Traveller20074 Posted July 19, 2014 #11 Share Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) so, $699 on TOP of your cruise cost? nope. wouldn't do it. Edited July 19, 2014 by Traveller20074
Rare aubreyc1988 Posted July 19, 2014 #12 Share Posted July 19, 2014 i agree, the price point would have to be around 400-450pp for us to even consider it. i mean, if you are only saving 100.00...and usually the 100.00 you save is crap they give you that you wouldnt have cared about, like strawberries and bottles of water. but if the savings margin was higher, then sure, I can see it
Demonyte Posted July 19, 2014 #13 Share Posted July 19, 2014 I just received a survey about a potential all-inclusive plan that I assume they're considering, or they wouldn't spend the money to do market research about it. They did these same surveys already some time ago (couple of months maybe?) with different package contents for different people who were selected to answer to the survey - I think that what you described was the most extensive package. There were a lot of discussion here about these options back then.

xyzcruiser Posted July 19, 2014 #16 Share Posted July 19, 2014 I would buy a package that included the viva vino package, udp, gratuities, and excursions as I like to prepay for things. But I have no interest in ubp, internet, photos, water, bingo, strawberries. Unless they offer several different packages, I'm not sure they could attract enough cruisers. But there is probably no downside for ncl to offer it.
Rare All-ready2cruise Posted July 19, 2014 #17 Share Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) Definitely wouldn't work for us the way it's designed, however, the tips and bottles of water, yes, $84 + $25 ? replace the UBP with a 6 bottle wine package (your choice of which level package with varying rate), $132-162 the internet is good, $100 the UDP, replace it with Trio Special that was available previously, $57 +/- throw in a free laundry to replace the Bingo, Strawberries, photos and bottle of wine. :D $27.99 total approx. $325.99 Just call me El Cheapo :D Not sure if the prices are exactly correct but this is along the lines of what would work for us. :D As far as excursions go, we DIY or use Private tours so wouldn't use that either. bobg529 Posted July 19, 2014 #18 Share Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) I was interested in the offer because of the 10% off the cruise price that is also included, assuming that is that someone who is paying the single supplement would still receive the FULL 10% off their stateroom. I am more than tired of being punished for traveling solo, and no I do not want to travel in a studio closet. A supplement would be reasonable at say 50 % of a fare, but I will never feel its right to charge me for two people. But $899 is too much anyway. $699 with a full 10% off and they have my interest for sure. Edited July 19, 2014 by bobg529

Rare KeithJenner Posted July 19, 2014 #20 Share Posted July 19, 2014 (edited) I think you can only go on past experience. We buy all we want and never spend more than about $500 each in a week. If the cost of a package is more than that then it isn't worth it. Edited July 19, 2014 by KeithJenner

buckirj1 Posted July 19, 2014 #23 Share Posted July 19, 2014 There are very few items in the package which we'd be interested in. Me, neither. As a previous poster noted, I might be interested in a reasonably priced unlimited laundry package for longer itineraries, similar to the package offered by HAL.
