Price is outrageous

Keep checking prices. I would be very surprised of they don't come down.

I agree... as long as the ship doesn't look sold out (there is a website that shows availability that I can't name)... I've been seeing that 40-30 days out the prices drop DRASTICALLY. Princess used to be bad about this (I don't know if they still are)...so now it's Royals turn.

It seems to go in cycles. One cruise line gets a loyal following, starts changing things and ups their rates...then run their loyal cruisers to other lines...then start the cycle all over again with discounting to get cruisers back.

Our THANKSGIVING cruise (NOS) was selling JS category cabins for 2000 pp at one point. NO WAY!!! A reasonable price would have been 1049 pp, IMO. Within the 45-30 period, prices dropped to a reasonable 1199 pp for that category...and I also saw a steal for an outside stateroom at 349 pp.

Having said all of that the Allure and Oasis are always priced higher...BUT, I have also gotten last minute rates on those two ships for outside balcony rooms around 900 pp...in September

& November.

 The reason why I have yet to book a cruise on Oasis or Allure! I guess it will be years before I can step foot on Quantum or Anthem!

I may take a look at this around noon today. I paid around $2600 for 2 D class Ocean view balconies twice on Allure. I did a quick check this morning for 4/30/16 and the price isn't that high. Got another email about a BOGOHO with $300 OBC. I might book it now as one rumor has Oasis going to China in April of 2016, maybe I can get compensation for having to change if that happens.

X that plan. The vowtowow sale I got an email about is not good for 2016 sailings.

I'm sure others have said this, but, here is how I understand the workings of the RCI pricing system.

1. These are not manual entries. The price is automatically generated from an algorithm, which would have umpteen variables.

2. If #1 is correct, it is conceivable that given the right set of variables, the price would be sky high (Example - only a few cabins left, sailing is far off in the future, during peak season, etc etc).

3. I doubt many (if ANY!) people are actually buying a D/E balcony for $3,000 per person, double occupancy. So.. after a while, the algorithm will kick in (one of the variables is likely the rate of sales) again to lower the price because no cabins are being sold.

My DW and I have cruised twice on Princess (Emerald & Ruby) and fell in love with cruising. Recently my Son and his DW have tried to convince us to sail with them on Oasis next July. They have sailed on Oasis twice and love Royal Caribbean. I checked the web site for the price of a Balcony Cabin and found The price a little high for us but my son told me they would come down. Well since that time it has increased to over 3000 per person. I guess I have to ask everyone here "has RC lost it's mind"

Or what? I would never pay more than 1500 per person for a 7 night Eastern Caribbean balcony cabin. What do all you veteran RC cruisers think?

I watch the prices of both Oasis/Allure and yes they are very high priced especially during holiday and summer. RCI built a winning duo with these ships and that's why it can command those prices. It's all supply and demand. However, prices can radically vary based on season and if you can book within a month or two. You just have to shop around and be flexible. I found the other RCI ship much cheaper like the Freedom and Independence, Explorer, etc. They provide just as nice of a cruise experience, but not quite the WOW factor of Oasis/Allure. So if you are price driven, need to book way in advance or need to travel during peak season then stay away from Oasis/Allure. Oasis/Allure are two of the highest rated ships and provide an excellent cruise experience; but you will pay for it depending when you want to go and how far in advance you need to book.

How does it work? Our sailing is in February on the Oasis , Our final payment date is this Friday the 21st. So after we make our final payment and if the price goes down what do we get for that? Anything money wise? Or more OBC?

No credit of any kind after final payment date.

However, you may be able to upgrade to a higher category for little or no extra cost.

Travel agencies do hold big blocks of cabins that are released once the final payment date has passed.

Sailing in the Caribbean is not like doing a TA crossing with 5 or more sea days loaded with lots of activities and opportunities to spend money on board. You will probably be in a port a day and spend very little time in your cabin except to change clothes and sleep.

For that amount of money, I would expect one of the best cabins, all my tips included, along with a fair amount of drinks/shore excursions.

RCCL tried to do the same thing on the Explorer and was asking over $3,500 per person at one point.

Another reason for higher than usual pricing is that RCCL pushed hard to get the non US cruisers who will pay them based upon Euro pricing which works out to be much, much higher than US passengers are willing to pay. They will pay $40 or $50 dollar for some liquours (they feel are a bargain)

that US passengers will not pay more than $25 for! All of this serves to drive pricing up artificially. Just don't play their game. Either hold out or sail with another line.

These prices you all are quoting are crazy!

$2,000. $3,000. $4,000. per person, for a week, in a balcony?

I got some 'prime Florida swamp land' down here for you folks!:D

This year we did a week on the Getaway for $1,400.for 2, and 2 weeks on the Divina for $2,000. for 2!:D

Both large, comfortable, new ships!

I could go on the Divina for 7-8 weeks vs one week on the Oasis at the prices you're talking about! Time for you folks to start looking around!

We're D+, casino club members so we get a lot of benes., but not enough to justify the prices you all are talking about!

I guess that why we can afford to take as many cruises as we do in a year, we don't blow all our money on one cruise!:D

Right now Anthem's prices are reasonable (D8 balcony cabin on April 8, 2016, 10 night sailing is $1569 pp before taxes and fees). However, Quantum's prices are extremely high.

Well not related to Oasis, I also say pricing is way higher than normal. Looked at Majesty for May - almost 2k Cdn for a single person. Normally Majesty 4 night is showing around 400 to 700 for single occ on deck 9. Oasis is near 3k+. WTHeck! My 2013 Oasis was about 1600 Cdn. My Quantum for next April was just 1200 for a 12night. My upcoming Dec Liberty was about 1100 after a price drop.

I refuse to pay 2k for Majesty or even 3k for Oasis.

The pricing is high, but why do responders keep referring to prices in off months for comparison. The OP is looking at July on Oasis. That is an entirely different animal
