tazmancruiser Posted February 23, 2015 #1 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Dunb question- but after all the reading you got me confused. OK night for men slacks in man dining room or buffet. Now mornings or noon I go for breakfast or noon lunch are shorts ok or do I have to go back to room a slip on a pairvof kakis? I told you it was a numb question. But after reading all the rules I got confused HA HA Never had this problem after 19 cruises on Royal Caribbean but I excited to be sailing on the reflection

Phxazzcruisers Posted February 23, 2015 #4 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Shorts are always acceptable in the buffet, breakfast, lunch or dinner. They are also acceptable in the MDR for breakfast and lunch, just not at dinner. And of course, they are more than acceptable in your room if you order room service :-)

I have never eaten in the MDR, but wouldn't think a t-shirt would be that bad during the break/lunch time.
cb at sea Posted February 23, 2015 #6 Share Posted February 23, 2015 They mean "wife beater" t-shirts...not regular sleeved t-shirts.

CathyCruises Posted February 23, 2015 #8 Share Posted February 23, 2015 I think they mean underwear-grade tee shirts, not the kind that are ubiquitous now. Certainly a clean colored tee, with or without embellishment, is fine in the morning and at lunch.
phoenix_dream Posted February 23, 2015 #9 Share Posted February 23, 2015 Have never had an issue wearing a regular, colored t-shirt (as opposed to an undershirt) in the morning or afternoon in 26 Celebrity sailings.

I have never eaten in the MDR, but wouldn't think a t-shirt would be that bad during the break/lunch time. I always wear T-Shirts and shorts in the MDR for breakfast and lunch. No issues ever! No matter what Cruise line we are Crusing on. It doesn't matter if they are white, colored, plain or with a design. Agree tank tops and so called wife beaters are not allowed. dkjretired Posted February 24, 2015 #14 Share Posted February 24, 2015 The cruise line is well aware that people do not want to go back to their rooms and change after breakfast or lunch, you are fine in shorts and t shirts for breakfast and lunch. Depending on the itinerary, you might feel out of place at the Martini Bar at night in shorts. Big difference between a Caribbean cruise and a Med. cruise, for ex. I don't remember ever seeing anyone in shorts at night at any of the nice indoor bars in the Med

az_tchr Posted March 1, 2015 #19 Share Posted March 1, 2015 How about just using common sense? Would you wear shorts and a tank top to go to a nice restaurant for dinner? No where I live and Tucson is pretty casual. Nice pair of shorts and a T shirt for lunch? Fine either in Tucson or on Celebrity. Are cruises different? Absolutely. An Alaska cruise or one at holiday times in the Caribbean is less formal than a Med or TA cruise. Completely different group cruising.

No where I live and Tucson is pretty casual. We are not discussing the restaurants any more - Celebrity's rules are clear although I know plenty of nice restaurants in my area that would have no problem with shorts. The question now is about bars/casino/lounges in which case Celebrity has no problem with shorts in these areas unless a dress code is specified onboard for a special event.
