Ha! They changed it. It now says:

Laundry Service

Gold members: 25% on one bag of laundry.

Platinum members: complimentary one bag of laundry.

It used to have a ^ by the above description.

Which said: ^ Are limited to one per stateroom.

Now, it's not there anymore.

As I recall you don't have to put a coupon in the bag to get the free laundry. You just write in the laundry bag and ticket something on the order of "Platinum Latitudes...no charge". On our last several cruises there wasn't a separate coupon for both of us...it was one coupon with both our names on it.

Also I've see the procedure differ based on the ship you're on and the itinerary. Sometimes you could get the free laundry on a day of your choosing and sometimes it was only on the day the had the laundry special. On some of our longer cruises with two laundry special days we were able to get four free bags in total, one for each of us on each of the days with a laundry special. We had that as recently as December when we were on a 12 night cruise on the Gem.

Regardless of the individual variations by ship and itinerary, the free laundry has always been for each platinum member, not one per cabin, and as of today ncl.com still reflects that. The welcome gift, chocolate-covered strawberries and sparkling wine are still listed as the only one per cabin benefits. Everything else is one per platinum member.

Procedure on the Breakaway last month for us with the Platinum laundry - and we received (click here for JPG file) one coupon with both names printed on it - saved/scanned them here - for viewing reference - that we can used it ANY day of the week during the cruise.

We still need to fill the laundry slip & itemized it, write our name, stateroom # and "Platinum" on it. That was it - done free, washed/dry/neatly folded, etc. Not packing a closet full of items for 7 days, we did one bag on day 4 and it was back on the morning of day 6, ready for wear & repacking. Had we got more items, we would've gotten a 2nd. bag free (at least up until our cruising - as always, these perks are subject to change, much like airlines changing the rules on earning FF miles ...)

P.S. slightly off-topic, we each receive our own dining coupon for LeBistro & a bottle of wine each, and, used it.

that is the most ridiculous cut back NCL would do to Platinum members not to mention insulting. Lets just say i am traveling with a friend and he or she has earned her Platinum level on her own but we are sharing the stateroom that means we have to do our laundry together?...That is disrespectful at least to me. I will be on the jewel next week for 28 days and if that will be the case you can guarantee it i will complain about it.

Did they make getting to Platinum easier hmmm i will kind of disagree because most people just take 7 day cruises however just because some people think they made it easier those perks were earned and they should honor them and if not let loyal customers know ahead of time of any changes happening to Latitudes Program.

Interesting reading the above posters Laundry form - we were on the Jewel on the March 7th sailing and only got one coupon (we were both Platinum, but it was our first time) - I honestly didn't pay attention as to whether our name(s) were on there. I do think the wording on the back was different, there were more instructions about dropping the coupon into the bag and it didn't say anything about writing PLATINUM on the itemization form. I'm pretty sure of this because it didn't mention the form at all and my husband read the coupon and just put it in the bag without filling out the form and they sent the bag back a few days later. I knew about the form from CC, but he didn't and since it didn't mention it and we weren't paying, he figured we didn't need the form.

Now, we did get lots of wine - wine for the suite, wine for being Platinum, wine with our dinners in the Le Bistro, won wine in the casino drawing . . . we don't even drink wine, so we just gave it away to neighbors and they were thrilled.

From our POA cruise, end of January, 2015...

Latitudes Rewards Tier: Platinum Laundry Service complimentary: one bag of laundry Platinum members (each), but we only used one.

Also, we received Chocolate-Covered Strawberries two different days and we each receive our own dining coupon for LeBistro(for two) & a bottle of wine.

As far as the "Complimentary Sparkling Wine in Your Stateroom" we only received one. No big deal.:)

Just off the Jewel today after a lovely cruise, though we did have one surprise. We had previously had one free bag of laundry per Platinum member but now, now just one bagel cabin per cruise. We asked the cruise consultant Jorge about it and he said it was the new policy (though I believe he would have let us do a second bag this time if we had asked).

As a couple, we liked having two free bags, and we may pack a bit more if we only get one bag per cabin . Thought I'd share in case it impacts how others pack. Sorry if this is old news to some here, but it was new to me..

Since PLATINUM points are earned PER PERSON, rewards should be distributed PER PERSON. This is a chintzy move. It is listed as a platinum perk. I earned it.

I'm wrong, sorry. What I was referring to was the Platinum dinner for two now says one on the UK Site. Please excuse my error.

As for the laundry perk it has always been one bag per cruise per room but on our last cruise 14 Panama in Jan. we sent a bag first week under my name and second week under partners name (not married) with no problems and plan on doing the same on our up coming 12 day cruise.

Upon arrival in our cabin this time, there was a letter about bronze benefits with two other people's names. We booked a last minute gty cabin. They either shuffled people around last minute or somebody cancelled last minute.

We went to the cruise consultatant on day one and he printed our platinum materials on the spot. After we reviewed them, we asked about the single laundry certified it's both banks on one form and instructions to place form in laundry bag. He said that it was now one per cabin, though he expressed that two might be appropriate if it had been a long cruise.

Not very may platinums aboard that cruise...spring break families with young kids.

We had a similar problem on The Jewel. My sister's silver packet was in the cabin, but my gold and dad's platinum were not. We wanted to get the Le Bistro certificate for dinner that night so dad went to Jorge and he printed our packets right then. We also noticed that the tvs with the gold and platinum members on it did not have the names of the people for our cruise until halfway through the cruise. I think Jorge was having some problems.

Now, I was one point away from being platinum, and one or two days into the cruise, I got an envelope in the cabin with new platinum benefits! Dad also got a new envelope. We each got laundry and each had a new dinner certificate. That was an awesome mistake on Jorge's part!

Anyway, I would agree with the earlier statement that Jorge might be in error with the laundry situation...

I have had varied experience with laundry over the years. When I first made Platinum, there was free laundry whenever the Laundry Special was offered. It then went to being free whenever you wrote PLATINUM on the laundry slip. This was a 14 day cruise and so I as well as my wife got one bag of laundry. On a recent 28-day cruise, it was the same ... one free bag per platinum member if you turned it in on the Special Laundry Day. During the third week of the cruise, I went to the Registration Desk and asked about Laundry Policies. I was told that how many "free laundries for Platinum Members" was solely up to the Laundry Master. The registration agent called the laundry and they said they would process another bag of laundry for each of us for free. When I got my itemized statement at the end of the cruise, there was an additional charge for the laundry. The Registration Desk said that only the Laundry Master could remove the charge and that he was not in that morning and would not be in until after 1 PM (after we had to be off the ship). I said I would wait and miraculously, the Laundry Master did show up (via phone) and the Laundry Master removed the charge.

We need to remember that the goal here is not to reward those long term NCL customers but to devise ways of getting an extra $5.00/day per guest. Couple this with the new RS "convenience charge" and guess what .... we are getting there.

I've been platinum over 10 years, actually started under their own program. My husband became platinum several years later. I have NEVER turned in the coupon for the laundry, I wrote- platinum status on the laundry slip. Have never has an issue with the comp laundry.

Jorge has NOTHING to do with the billing. The place to have asked would have been the purser's who does the billing from the laundry. Did they verify this with them? Did they put "platinum status" on their laundry form?

It does not surprise me, the cutting back of benefits. It is pretty easy to become platinum. When I qualified, it was, after 14 cruises. I used to get a lot of cpt dinner invites, because there were so few platinums. Now there are hundreds every cruise. So, it makes complete sense to water down the benefits.

Already they have one per cabin the chocolates and wine. The last chocolates I got in Jan, was half the size box of before, now 4 pieces. :)

I agree, but since this is the first report of this, and I'm not seeing others reporting the same, I'm reserving judgement and hope it was just a mistake made by one person onboard, this one time. Fingers crossed ;)

My way of seeing things perks should not be watered down they should be added. Add another Tier maybe 2 tiers make more incentives but don't take perks away just because they screwed up and realized they made the ability to make Platinum easier, is not customers fault. They probably thought that the average cruiser would do a 7 days cruise so it would not be that easy to make Platinum but alas that is probably not the case.

I totally agree. With so many cruisers now Platinum, it's time to add another tier or two. I was so excited when we first made Platinum, but now it's kind of diluted. Give us something to make it a little more exciting. Maybe let us choose from Cagneys or Le Bistro or Teppanyaki? Perhaps let us give them our choice of an amenity...I would rather have some colas in our room rather than the wine. I'm sure with a little thought they could make another tier attractive to attain.

You should be able to trade your wine for cola. Have you ever asked?
