Majesty to get Upgraded

Recommended Posts

So let people cancel and go book Enchantment. I don't see why they should price protect people to a different ship, different port, different itinerary.

Yeah, good point.

I guess I was just looking at a Sovereign Class VS Vision Class kind of thing, because many people might view the switch as a downgrade. But I did forget about the OBC, which would still be given if one booked the Enchantment.

And btw, the Enchantment wouldn't be a different itinerary. She runs the same exact schedule (other than KW), just in a different order. Was just thinking more along the lines of...

"Here are your options... (1) Price protected Majesty Nov 11th sailing with OBC, (2) Price Protected Enchantment Nov 11th sailing with OBC, or (3) any other RCI sailing where you will receive OBC, but no price protection."

I think that they should have also offered a price-protected booking on the Enchantment from Miami. That wouldn't really work for the people that are close to PC, but it would be fine for some of the passengers that need to travel in the first place. That way, they could have spread out some of those with balconies and gave an option to those who would rather sail on a Vision class ship.. But that's just my opinion.

I agree with that. In the past, they have given the Miami based ship option when Sovereign or Monarch were canceled. I think it's a matter of RC is fine with people paying Vision Class prices for a Majesty cruise but not Majesty prices for a Vision Class cruise . Just sayin'.

The situation just stinks overall. There's nothing glamorous about an old ship with no real amenities, no matter how they try to spin it or what memories people around here have of Majesty in her glory days.

Well actually, either way people are paying Vision Class prices, because people were booked on either Rhapsody or Enchantment, both Vision Class. And based off my price checking a couple months back, Rhapsody was actually more expensive than Enchantment.

Personally, I wouldn't say it sticks, as Majesty is desirable to a lot cruisers for her traditional feel and short weekend cruises. She seemed to have been doing fine in Miami. However, I do totally understand your point of view. I can only hope that they refresh the public areas and cabins with new carpets, etc.

My feedback above in RED. :)

Some people are excited by the free internet?? Why? You do realize you are paying for that and besides, how much time on a 3 night cruise, would you be using it?? I can understand a transatlantic with lot of sea days, but not on a 3 night Bahamas cruise..

RCI is trying to appeal to the millennials who are constantly posting photos and such to social media websites.

Plus, it is a very nice perk for those who have a hard time getting away due to work, even on short weekend cruises.

I was on in April over Easter. Total pinnacle was zero. Top cruiser had 400 points. Only 3 on Freedom two weeks ago.

Pinnacles normally do not cruise summer or holidays.....

Plus most went to Brilliance this past winter............But when BR is not here, they will go to the ship at PC.

I can tell you there were at least 9 Pinnacles onboard Majesty this past weekend.

Oh yeah, duh :p, all the switching around has my mind flipped around on prices.

Regardless, having been on Sovereign class ships many times, theres virtually nothing about those ships that aren't a step down from Vision Class ships. Waterslide and internet included, its a downgrade.

Yeah, I do see your point...

But I guess they figure that they'll get the people who don't know better or people like me to try the Majesty, who, despite having read about her being a downgrade, still wants to try a Sovereign Class ship... ;)

No CL, correct :what:

The Viking Crown was basically a suites and Diamond Lounge every night, with all the benefits of a concierge lounge (more alcohol choices actually) and senior crew coming up nightly to chat.

No, but with no CL to hang around in, they could just roam the ship with their dorky badges on instead of being confined to a lounge.

Ok I'll stop .

They all don't wear those badges....

I find it amazing that how when they announced that the Monarch was leaving there were so many positive comments about her and how people would miss her yet it seems like the vast majority of the comments about the Majesty are negative.

These boards in general were more flattering of RCL just a couple years ago

I will be one of the 'all specialty' diners on this new offering, whether on a 3 or 4 night sailing.

They have seemed to announce a new form of Chef's Table for Majesty in their press release.

Chef’s Table, an exclusive experience hosted by the Executive Chef and Sommelier for an intimate wine pairing dinner.

If this is the case, this will be an event more like what Princess offer than the -

I]"A once-in-a-lifetime culinary experience – join up to 14 guests in an exclusive enclave to savour a five-course, gourmet menu"[/i] offered by RCI on other ships.

This could be offered in a designated galley space, if that is even possible on Majesty.

This description of the Chef's Table is very much like the Taste of Tuscany that we enjoyed on Her Majesty last year. It was a terrific experience given by the Chef and a wine specialist....every course and there were 4 or 5 of them was done slowly and elegantly with fine wine picked out for each course....we floated out of the restaurant. It was held in the Compass Deli in the evening and the Deli was delightfully set up.

Mark me down as one who liked EN, but isn't upset in the slightest about MJ.

Personally I'm not one to always go for the newer and bigger ships. Brilliance is arguably a downgrade from Oasis, but I'd much prefer the former over the latter.

I'm happy to have a Sovereign Class ship back, I loved Monarch and I'm sure I'll love Majesty.

I love the Boleros on Sovereign class. No other ship except Enchantment came close to that lounge on Sovereign class.

Why should he tell you, you never tell us who your Corp friend is. ;):what::eek:

Is it a public commissioner of some type or someone who works at the port authority or is it a person who works at Royal.....Not concerned about the name.....I was confused.

I have just met someone else who one of their marketing execs at Royal...and he got an earful from me about this fluid situation (his term for it -- with Her Majesty) ....as politely as I could make it....but he heard it from me.

We were just talking about the nice Boleros Lounges on MJ and EN today on the (former) MJ retirement thread.

CCL is planning on going to Cuba soon. It might stand to reason that RCI would be strategically positioning their ships with good appeal to Latin guests in preparation for the same. Just a theory, but interesting to think about.

Based on what they are saying that Her Majesty is getting, she will be a much different ship than what she was. Surprising to me, that with what they are doing, they are not adding some type of Diamond Lounge, rather than having the Diamond section nightly in VCL.

I really wonder if the VCL will actually still be a public place on Her Majesty at all. Time will tell. In the past there have always been a decent number of Diamond and above cruisers on any of the cruises we were on, by the time we were Diamond and had access to the roped off area.

I always enjoyed the nightly Diamond event in the VCL on MN, even if it was only wine and soda. As long as they don't totally cut of access I'll be happy. It'll be just like old times.

Boleros on Enchantment is 1/4th the size of Sovereign class. Really miss Monarch Boleros!
