AZNative2000 Posted July 27, 2015 #26 Share Posted July 27, 2015 I loved breakfast in the Pinnacle Grill on our recent Zuiderdam cruise. The menu might be the same as the MDR but the food presentation, service and peace and calm of the Pinnacle are a million miles away from the noise and hustle of the MDR. Yes! You've found the true value of this suite "perk". Cheers!

sail7seas Posted July 28, 2015 #28 Share Posted July 28, 2015 My husband has always said that breakfast in the Pinnacle is such a "civilized" way to start the day :) That's exactly what I always say. :) I will be sailing NCL and Suites have breakfast and lunch in a restaurant called Cagney's. I am looking forward to comparing them.

I am looking forward to comparing them. I liked Cagney's. Aboard Norwegian Jade, several years ago, part of the Cagney's breakfast was a buffet. I'll be interested in learning what it's like nowadays ... will you please share?
sail7seas Posted July 28, 2015 #30 Share Posted July 28, 2015 (edited) I'll be happy to share comments when I return. I don't think I'll post live especially on an HAL forum but it should be interesting for me after so many HAL cruises uninterrupted by any other cruise line to now sail NCL. :) How would You compare Cagney's Suite Breakfast to HAL's Pinnacle Suite breakfast? Relax@Sea Posted July 28, 2015 #31 Share Posted July 28, 2015 I'll be happy to share comments when I return. I don't think I'll post live especially on an HAL forum but it should be interesting for me after so many HAL cruises uninterrupted by any other cruise line to now sail NCL. :) How would You compare Cagney's Suite Breakfast to HAL's Pinnacle Suite breakfast? They are similar as far comfort and quit, I found the service in the Pinnacle to be a little more formal for breakfast, but the service at Cagney's was paced a little better. My DW enjoyed the crab cakes and always looks forward to that when having breakfast at Cagney's. The Steak and eggs from Cagney's was the best meal on the menu for me, where as the eggs benedict was the best meal at the Pinnacle. Cagney's breakfast open time is longer than the Pinnacle and was open every day. Both were never crowded and usually we walked right in. I like the location of Cagney's better than the Pinnacle as when you leave you can go down a set of stairs and you are on the pool deck. Just for reference I have only sailed on the Eurodam 2 times so I cannot compare the other HAL Ships experiences at the Pinnacle, and have been on the Dawn 3 times, but have been on several other NCL ships that have Cagney's and found that Cagney's is very similar on all of them. JohnKen3 Posted August 22, 2015 #40 Share Posted August 22, 2015 How do restaurant staff know that you are in a Neptune or Pinnacle Suite to access the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast? Do you have a different coloured room key card?
Rare erewhon Posted August 22, 2015 #41 Share Posted August 22, 2015 How do restaurant staff know that you are in a Neptune or Pinnacle Suite to access the Pinnacle Grill for breakfast? Do you have a different coloured room key card? Yes, a gold coloured card. The first morning you go to breakfast, they will ask for your stateroom number, they can then check on their computer if you are the correct person for the stateroom. Rare visagrunt Posted August 22, 2015 #42 Share Posted August 22, 2015 In my experience, they never need to ask after the first morning.

Do you have a different coloured room key card? Key cards are gold- also they ask for room number and name the first time they meet you. We have dinner in the PG so the first morning they already know us. They have remarkable memories for names and faces- it's amazing. Considering how many people they meet week after week it has always amazed me how they greet me by name every time they see me. The NL Concierges study the check in pictures so they can greet people by name the first time they meet.

Also, it is neat when the concierge knows your name when you first meet them. Does not happen all the time, but it is nice when it does. The first time this happened to me I was quite surprised, until she explained how she knew.

On the "S" and "R" ships, Concierge always knows our name when we first come into Neptune Lounge. On the Vista and Signature, once in a while it takes a day or two but there are so many more suite guests on those ships. Pinnacle often knows us when we come in first morning but if not, we show our card, they see our faces and they never ask again.

Lizzie68 Posted August 22, 2015 #50 Share Posted August 22, 2015 I'm pretty sure that they study your photo before you meet them because one of the concierges came into the terminal looking for us when we were waiting to board the Westerdam (our cabin had flooded) and zoned right in on us, though asking of course for our names. She then escorted us onboard. Now it's quite possible that she scanned the photos because of the circumstances, however we had been in a Neptune suite a few months previously on the Zuiderdam and as soon as I walked into the NL I was greeted by name. It does make you feel special. But that aside, it amazes me how all the staff and crew remember the names. My DH loves being called "Sir John", LOL.
