Why not have a punch on a thin wire or string in the library?

 

1) if people have to do it themselves, they will come directly

to cruise critic and complain about how service has declined;

how they are elite, and resent being treated this way, blah, blah, blah

 

2) if people do it themselves, they will punch the magnetic stripe,

and they first time they try to buy a drink, or open their cabin door,

they will have to go to the pursers desk and get a new card.

 

Then, they will come to cruise critic and complain that there wasn't

a video running on the cabin television showing them how to punch

the card.

You forgot to mention that they will also punch the end of the card with the arrow that goes into the door lock........:D

And what about pre-selecting the composition of the mini bar set up ( exchanges) rather than bother room service on the first day.

 

I vote for that option. On my last 7 day cruise, I requested the minibar exchange on the first day and didn't get it until the late afternoon on the third day. Plus I had to call each day to see where it was. Claimed they were really busy, but they would expedite my request --- hmmm!

It's a personal preference. As I said, I prefer an unmarred card. We were asked our preference we replied.

 

Your preference seems to be "I don't care". No one here is laughing out loud at you for that.

I don't have 52 cards (yet) and don't use a lanyard, but I hang them on my Christmas tree. :D

Internet instruction should be provided at the bars, yes, watering holes during the first day or two of your cruise and then, at specified times throughout the cruise, at a drinking establishment

 

It's a win/win situation.

 

Passengers would get their questions answered, wet their whistle, the cruise line would make more $$ from thirsty pax and the info desk would have shorter lines.

 

As a matter of fact, why not have the punchers available at one of the popular drinking establishments on the first day ?

And, if anyone is genius enough to fabricate an automatic punch machine, like the 3 hole punch, where you press a button and the 3 hole-paper punch works automatically.

More ingenious, attach a quarter machine, - you place your card down, put a quarter in to the machine, and voila, you get your card punched,

 

Enough said.

 

I'm guessing that perhaps your comments are written with tongue in cheek. But if not, I doubt if those who are going to the bars (don't forget many are outside) are there to learn about how to use the Internet on the ship.

I wear a lanyard on only 2 occasions: when I am serving as an Examiner at amateur license exams (when it is required) and at National Boy Scout Jamborees (when it is required).

 

A cruise is vacation... don't put me on a leash, and don't punch a hole in my very nice souvenir (in the future) cruise card! :eek:

But then again I don't need them to enter my home or my Bedroom.

I can use cash at home ,while on ship I have to use my cruise card.

That was my original recommendation to Passenger Services. They felt many people save their cards and don't want holes in them. LOL

 

I do. I have every card but two from my Princess travels. Even my blue card. None are punched, and I'd rather not see them so. Reminds me of casinos, where people put the card in the machine and they're attached to it by a plastic cord like a phone line ...

 

I wear a lanyard with my card and sometimes a coffee card on a plastic sleeve. It hangs on my doorknob when I'm in my cabin. It works for me. Often I wear it under my shirt, but not always.

Actually, I am quite shy about being elite. It is just something that happened, it was never a goal for me. (But, I appreciate that Princess does this and I do enjoy the perks)

Put a hole in my card or not. I don't care either way. I don't use a lanyard and if it has a hole who cares. My card goes in the garbage after a cruise. I have no reason to keep it. Its useless after the cruise.

We still have our cards from our honeymoon 23 yrs. ago, but the others went in the trash. Regardless, a hole in the one we have wouldn't make it any less special. OTOH, we have no desire to wear our room key on a lanyard.

 

If you can have a table selling soda cards, why not have a table punching cards and selling lanyards? Personally, I bring a small punch with me and do ours. I agree on a class on the internet, but how sad that 10 years ago, people went on a cruise and could get away. Now, everyone still has to be checking e-mail, social media, etc. Personally one of the biggest reasons I cruise is to GET AWAY.

 

We're with you. DH could get us on the internet, but that's the last thing we want to do on a cruise. We have no interest in spending time online on our vacation time.

They get many bad comments from everyone weekly especially when people take a taste & order something else. It won't be long before the Curtis Stone selections are a thing of the past & they put the always available items back.

On our last cruise I couldn't figure out why there was nothing I liked on the menu which has never happened before. This must be the reason. Obviously they have invested a TON of money in Curtis Stone. Too bad so few like his food. I want back the "always available" list. I'm telling you, my DH eats almost everything and this is the first cruise/time I have ever been sitting at a dinner table with him when he said there was nothing on the menu that sounded good. I've been married 40 years and never heard those words out of his mouth.

 

An empty restaurant and not popular menu items. Hello Princess! I wanted to do the Chef's table on my next cruise but if his weird food items are what is being served I guess I will miss on that too.

 

Let's see. Spent a ton of money to sign him up. Spent another ton of money to change out restaurants to oblige his food and concept. Got rid of the food everyone liked and spent more money to put his food items on the menu. Geez. Did anyone at Princess actually try these items beforehand? Maybe they should have brought his food into the Princess cafeteria and offer to them as a taste test to see how regular people liked it.
