Do you want Princess to return to Bermuda

I do. Just discovered how wonderful Bermuda is when Pacific Princess stopped there last year.

I think Princess used to sail to Bermuda from New York for multi-day visits. Celebrity and NCL offer multi-day Bermuda visits from New Jersey and I believe Baltimore. I wish Princess would offer a muti-day itinerary.

It must be crowded when two of the huge ships are in port. Hopefully, Princess could be in port on different days. This might be easier sailing from Florida or Georgia. It would be worth it to me to depart mid-week to avoid crowding, but most people might not want to do this. Still, maybe enough people would?

Like it or not, cruising in Europe is being negatively impacted by the crisis there. Bermuda could be another option for Princess for summer cruising.

Yes they used to sail to Bermuda for multi day visits in the past as well as weekly stops.

Apparently its not where the money is.

I would not mind visiting again other then a stop on a TA.

There are a number of reasons why there are no regular Princess cruises to Bermuda:

-- Almost all Princess ships are too big to dock in Hamilton

-- The alternative is King's Wharf which has limited space and it's very tricky docking there.

-- King's Wharf is a distance from Hamilton and most of Bermuda which adds to passenger costs.

-- Ships overnight and docking fees and port charges add a lot of $$ to the cruise fare.

-- Other lines have pretty much booked the available docking space at King's Wharf.

Always follow the money. Other than an occasional port stop in Bermuda, don't expect Princess to offer regular sailings. I'd book with HAL which docks in Hamilton.

Princess used to offer a 9 day cruise from NYC to the Caribbean with a one day stop in Bermuda in the summer(July).

My DH and I took this cruise twice in two years - I think it was 2008 and 2009.

Bermuda is one of our favorite vacation places and we have traveled there 10 times since our honeymoon in 1983.

We were disappointed that Princess no longer offers that cruise from NYC anymore as it is our home port and convenient for us.

The only lines that presently sail to Bermuda from the NYC area for a stay of 3 nights

are NCL from the NYC pier and RCCL and Celebrity from Bayonne , NJ.

NCL also has a ship sailing from Boston to Bermuda and RCCL sails there from Baltimore.

HAL used to sail to Bermuda from NYC ,but no longer.

My DH and I sailed on the NCL Breakaway last September.

While we enjoyed returning to Bermuda, we found that we preferred Princess over the NCL ship board experience.

So, short answer....we would really appreciate Princess including Bermuda as a cruise destination or at least a port included in an itinerary.

I think part of the problem is that Bermuda tries to limit the amount of tourists to the island.

Ships no longer dock at St, Georges or Hamilton. Ships have become too large for those ports and the Kings Wharf area seems to have been developed to contain the passenger ship traffic to the West End of the island.

I have heard that port charges are extremely high in Bermuda and that the berth space is reserved for a few cruise lines.

While we were there last September, we shared the docking space with RCCL and Aida

( I think this is a German based ship).

Princess seems to be focused on the Asian and South Pacific market, taking ships away from the Caribbean area. This may be an attempt to follow the tourist money.

We will continue to sail Princess to the Caribbean, when possible and we will always support a return of Princess sailing to Bermuda,if only for a day.

Another big reason for multiple day visits to Bermuda is lost revenue from alcohol sales and the casino. We spent 4 days in Bermuda in 2001 on the original Pacific Princess and us along with many of the passengers didn't spend much time on the ship spending money. Instead we chose to explore local restaurants and bars in the evening. The ship was basically our floating bedroom.

Casino's can now open at 9:00pm and in 2009 and 2010 the bars were open on Princess. I wish Princess would sail Bermuda and the Caribbean from N.Y. Since they don't I take my money elsewhere. Follow the itinerary.

Everyone coming off of that particular HAL ship had nothing good to say about it. From the outside, it looks really sad and run down. Sadly, the Celebrity Summit we took was awful and actually failed health inspection months later! The options are poor to Bermuda. The new NCL goes there but not our cup of tea. Great port, poor ship selections.

i personally want the 9 day from NYC back. It included a trip to Bermuda (Kings Wharf)

We took that cruise a few times and really enjoyed it......

And unfortunately Bermuda was missed many times due to wind/weather issues. :(

I wish Princess would go to Bermuda. We went two years ago out of New York on the Norwegian Breakaway. We loved the island, only wish it were a Princess ship that took us! Docking at Kings Wharf was nice, you can catch a ferry to Hamilton at a very reasonable price and taking the bus system was a breeze.

I'd love to have that 9 day back from NYC .

We did it out of brooklyn and had a great time even if the weather didn't cooperate too much. Its our homeport, we can take as much as we need, don't have to fly. and it doesn't go to the same ports as the others.

We are tired of the NYC cruises that go to Florida and the Bahamas

Those we don't even get off the ship anymore.

For those interested in traveling to Bermuda here is the 2016 ship schedule for other cruise lines.

I know it's not Princess but Bermuda is a beautiful island with plenty to see and do and shouldn't be missed for the lack of a Princess ship sailing there.

A Princess ship sailing weekly on the Bermuda run would be most delightful ! I'd wish for a Coral/Island or Crown class ship. In 2001 just after September 11th I sailed aboard the original Pacific Princess to Bermuda from Boston. No ships were sailing out of New York because of the terrorist attacks. That first night out of Boston the Atlantic was in a bad mood and our "little" Love Boat was a rockin' & a swayin'. The Pacific Princess and Bermuda couldn't have been more delightful. Perfect ship matched with the perfect itinerary. Our ports were St . George and Hamilton. I was traveling solo and the small ship atmosphere felt very home like. My tablemates invited me to their wedding in Hamilton that took place high up on a cliff overlooking the ocean. The bursting sunset fusing with the aquamarine water was nearly psychedelic ! Princess Cruises, please return to Bermuda and while you're at it, please build an exact replica of the original PP. I'm not impressed with Celebrity Cruises AT ALL & NCL is simply not an option. As mentioned before, the options are limited for Bermuda sailings.

  • 6 months later...

Oh YES YES YES..we would love it if Princess would sail 7 days to Bermuda. We just did this via Celebrity as Princess doesn't go...it was nice and X and Princess do compare well...but do prefer Princess...more accustomed to their ways. Oh please tell the powers that be that we would love a cruise to Bermuda on Princess!! :D
