motherchic Posted February 24, 2016 #1 Share Posted February 24, 2016 (edited) We are sailing on the Reflection and want a space where we can play cards and games, with a group of friends. I would like it to be somewhere that we can play and still have views of the ocean. Any suggestions? motherchic Posted February 24, 2016 Author #2 Share Posted February 24, 2016 We are sailing on the Reflection, a TA, in April. I would like to find a place where a group of us could play cards and games AND still have a view of the ocean. The card room tends to be a small space. I would appreciate any suggestions thank you much, Nadine
Cruisingwithoutthekids Posted February 24, 2016 #3 Share Posted February 24, 2016 We played Cards against Humanity in the solarium area on our last cruise. Great views Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
TeaBag Posted February 24, 2016 #4 Share Posted February 24, 2016 I have seen people playing cards in a corner of the Oceanview cafe. As long as it is not busy during breakfast or lunch hours, I think this could work. There are also tables at the Aqua Spa cafe. As long as it is after 2:30 PM when the lunch service closes that would be OK too. On Silhouette there is a lovely little space called the Hideaway (deck 7) where people read and play cards. You can also get coffee there all day. I don't know if Reflection would have this space also as we have not sailed on that ship, but the other 3 S class do not have it. irishgal1970 Posted February 24, 2016 #5 Share Posted February 24, 2016 Inside, I think the buffet would be your best bet; or the section of the solarium that's close to the Aqua Spa Cafe (but seating isn't ideal there). If it's not windy then you have loads of choices - Solstice Deck, Lawn Club, etc, but again seating isn't ideal. You can make it work if you're not fussy about having a proper table. If you need a table, then the buffet is perfect. You could even sit in their outside portion if the winds are calm.
bEwAbG Posted February 24, 2016 #6 Share Posted February 24, 2016 Reflection does have the Hideaway, but there are no sea views. It's a floor below Game On, which I presume is the card room. Also no sea views but they do have board games there, and tables for people to play. Sky Observation Lounge might be an option but I think it's supposed to be a quiet area during the day, so be sensitive to that. I have seen people playing mahjong there before. smtcan Posted February 24, 2016 #7 Share Posted February 24, 2016 On two recent cruises, card players have occupied several tables in Cafe al Baccio for long periods of time, making it hard to find a table to enjoy a coffee in comfort. Since the OP is considerate enough to ask about an appropriate place to play cards, I'm sure they will not add to this problem. :)
gopro63 Posted February 25, 2016 #8 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Ocean café not in the center but more to the exit. and you got your view. we're talking 2 three tables good luck.
ClaudiaB Posted February 25, 2016 #9 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Sky Lounge would be good too, if you don't mind the tables being low.
ptrpanpens Posted February 25, 2016 #10 Share Posted February 25, 2016 We played mah jong from 1-3 on Infinity in Blu, which is not open at lunch. Often they will not allow you to play in the Oceanview during busy times.
motherchic Posted February 25, 2016 Author #11 Share Posted February 25, 2016 I was thinking the Sky lounge as well, BUT are all the tables, coffee table height? Regular tables would be great
neverbeenhere Posted February 25, 2016 #12 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Areas not suggested: the bridge, the pool (unless you bring the correct cards), on the top deck during a windy day, at the muster, on the black tables, MDR (accept on a formerly formal night as you are going to be there for a while), disembarkation line... neenab Posted February 25, 2016 #13 Share Posted February 25, 2016 But, please, refrain from occupying the table if others need it for their meal.;)

kitty9 Posted February 25, 2016 #15 Share Posted February 25, 2016 As long as you're not doing the card and game playing during meal times when tables are difficult to get, the buffet area would be your best choice.

Cruisingwithoutthekids Posted February 25, 2016 #17 Share Posted February 25, 2016 The Solarium was really empty when we were playing in there. Nobody was within earshot of us and we kept it to a very reasonable volume. Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app
Rare chemmo Posted February 25, 2016 #18 Share Posted February 25, 2016 Just thinking if you are thinking of this being a regular activity why not speak to guest relations and see what area they suggest.

Yes, that is annoying, there was a group on my last cruise playing cards in the buffet right after we boarded and stayed there until they cleared the rooms. Really rude, wish the crew would say something

Algebralovr Posted February 26, 2016 #23 Share Posted February 26, 2016 If you are playing during the daytime, the Ensemble Lounge might work. The Café Al Bacio is only a short distance away for beverages. Coffee tables rather than full height, but the lights are on during the day and you wilk likely not find many people. Can'tstopcruising Posted February 26, 2016 #25 Share Posted February 26, 2016 I agree. There should be no card playing allowed at tables needed for lunch. Nothing is more unpleasant than standing waiting for a table and seeing pax using one for cards (or whatever, not food!)
