That's good. My issue with it wasn't rule following because I don't think it's my job to police others. But I would be unhappy on MY balcony smelling YOUR smoke, so that was my issue.

Smuggle all the drinks you want, and break any other rules and I see no reason to get involved because I'm not directly impacted. Smoking is a different ballgame.

This is how I view things in general but we do need to realize that breaking rules does have unexpected consequences. All the alcohol smuggling has made it so I can't bring my bottled water and soft drinks on with me anymore.

There is already a spirited debate in another thread regarding balcony smoking; vigorous and civil debate can be held there.

This is a basic yes / no poll.

If you are on your balcony and a neighbor is smoking, would you report the smoker to GS / Security?

I had a smokers next to me on my last cruise and just didn't want to be a b*tch. We had chatted & they seemed really nice. With the wind, the smoke didn't bother me too bad.

If I can smell the smoke, that person is forcing me to share the cigarette with you. I would report that there was someone smoking. And I would call every single time I could smell it. If I can't use my balcony I would expect a refund to the cost of an OV.

If I can't smell it then no I wouldn't report a possible smoker...not sure in that case how I would even know?

If it wasn't a safety issue, Carnival would not have a policy in place.

Below is a link to the Carnival website stating this policy:

https://help.carnival.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/3839/kw/smoking%20policy

Smoking Policy

All staterooms and suite accommodations are an entirely smoke free environment, including the outside balcony. This policy includes all forms of smoking, including but not limited to, cigarettes, cigars, electronic cigarettes (E-cigarettes), tobacco pipes and personal vaporizers.

Cigarette, electronic cigarette and personal vaporizer smoking will only be permitted in designated exterior open deck areas, as well as our night clubs (except on Carnival Sunshine and Carnival Vista), and in certain areas within the casino (for playing guests while at designated slot machines and table games) and the casino bar. Cigar and tobacco pipe smoking will only be allowed in designated exterior open deck areas.

Guests who smoke in their staterooms or on their balconies will be assessed a $250 cleaning and refreshing fee on their Sail & Sign account. Information on this fee is included in Carnival's cruise ticket contract. Guest agrees to strictly comply with Carnival's non-smoking policy.

I didn't say Carnival was being dramatic....I said you were....in theory, an intoxicated person could jeopardize you and your DW's safety....do you claim to report every intoxicated person you see on a cruise?

No, I don't believe for an instant that I'm being dramatic. This is a poll and I'm stating my opinion on the subject of this poll. What you think about me is inconsequential, and your attempt to introduce an unrelated subject that has nothing to do with the subject at hand is considered Thread Hijacking by Cruise Critic.

I don't think I would, simply because it never bothered me when it was allowed. The ship is moving & just blows the smoke away. I can remember many a time even in port seeing people leaning on their railing smoking a cigarette. Couldn't smell it that well - certainly not enough to bother me. I'm more bothered by the smoke in the casino - I guess because there's really nowhere for it to go.

I'm a cigar smoker, and use the designated areas on deck, or lounge where applicable. I don't smoke on the balcony, and don't want to smell smoke except when I'm smoking. If the smoke is bothering me, I would let them know, and if it continued, it would be reported. I would also let my cabin steward know so that just in case he smells smoke in the cabin, he knows that if could be my clothes, and not from me smoking in the room or balcony. Most of the time I leave my travel humidor, lighters, cutters, and cigar bands in plain sight in the room, so they know its not cigarettes.

Where does it say that it's a safety policy? (Just wondering...)
