okiehokiepokie Posted July 16, 2016 #1 Share Posted July 16, 2016 Looking to do a this 7 day cruise at the last minute due to the value pricing of the fares. X's fare is a Balcony at $749 and they give the option to hold that price and reject the $150 upcharge that comes with the one perk. On line TA priced at $681 and $25 OBC. Heck, AQ is only $849. This is the roundtrip Vancouver to San Fran cruise. What am I missing? Why so cheap? Is there something like a Bag Pipers Convention booked that will take up 80% of the rooms? Good CCer's...let me know what you know, think, or guess. Cheers, OHP
QuakerBoy Posted July 16, 2016 #2 Share Posted July 16, 2016 I think a lot of people shy away from that itinerary because of the limited number of port stops. Personally, I think it's a great itinerary, and the pricing is unbelievable. Aqua for only $849 for 7 days....unheard of. Just for comparison, look at the prices for the longer Pacific itinerary that follows that one. Much higher per diem $$. The kicker for us is the not so cheap R/T airfare to Vancouver. neverbeenhere Posted July 16, 2016 #3 Share Posted July 16, 2016 Have you conversed with the rollcall to see if something is going on? I looked and saw a number of staterooms available so it could be just supply and demand working.

I looked and saw a number of staterooms available so it could be just supply and demand working. There's something goofy going on with the roll call. Best I can find there isn't one for this itinerary. I think the Infinity was suppose to do a Panama Canal cruise on 9/12 and then it got switched to 10/7 or some such jazz. Take a look at the roll call for Infinity 9/12.....its a canal cruise. Cheers, OHP
BEAV Posted July 16, 2016 #5 Share Posted July 16, 2016 I believe this is the roll call thread you're looking for. Don't use the "find your roll call" feature, but instead go directly to the Infinity Roll Call forum and scroll down until you find Sept 18. Here it is... http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=2281872 I agree with neverbeenhere the pricing is probably supply and demand at work as opposed to it being a cruise with some large, bizarre group booked. ;)
DrivesLikeMario Posted July 16, 2016 #6 Share Posted July 16, 2016 The EOS is doing similar itineraries at that time at $149pp cruise fare, so I think it's just the nature of the beast (or itinerary).

misspuss Posted July 16, 2016 #8 Share Posted July 16, 2016 We are considering doing this cruise. Amazing prices... The only thing that is keeping us from booking is the "joy" of going through Vancouver cruise port, the last time we left from there, I swore I would never do it again! The thought of coming and going from Vancouver makes me cringe!

I was going through the "find your roll call" path...go to know about the other path. From reviewing the thread..not much there on why so cheap. It does look like there have been some serious reductions over the last 12 months or so. Looks like the weak Canadian dollar might have some effect also on suppressing local demand. I'm going to wait a couple of weeks and see what happens to rates while trying to not be too cute and end up with a high airfare. My SIL (aka: our dog sitter) lives in RDU and so far the fares are holding at $400US per person for flights with decent connections. We'll see. thanks to all for the replies. Rare Cruise Raider Posted July 17, 2016 #11 Share Posted July 17, 2016 We did a Pacific Coastal on the Infinity last year but out of San Francisco - 9 nights. It was dirty cheap shortly after final payment date. It was a fabulous cruise, by the way. The Explorer of the Seas does have an incredibly inexpensive cruise during that same month but out of Seattle. I wouldn't shy away from either of them. QuakerBoy Posted July 17, 2016 #12 Share Posted July 17, 2016 We were on the Infinity's Pacific Coastal Sepember itineraries the past two years. Loved them. Great weather that time of year, great ports (except for the mandatory stop at Ensenada). Wish celebrity would expand its Pacific offerings, even add an S-Class ship, but I guess if they have to have a fire sale to fill the ship, they won't be adding more. Too bad. maggie.1008 Posted July 17, 2016 #14 Share Posted July 17, 2016 I would choose Seattle RT over Vancouver. I have done both and Seattle is much easier.
Alcairns Posted July 17, 2016 #15 Share Posted July 17, 2016 We did the coastal trip in May. We did not realise that this was a gamblers cruise where they offer free cruises to their blue chip members. Did not make ant real difference apart from the face the casino was very busy Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app
lloyfisc647 Posted July 17, 2016 #16 Share Posted July 17, 2016 I'm booked on this cruise and can't wait! We got a concierge room really cheap with all 4 perks. No weird music conventions or anything - just lots of inventory because of the low Canadian dollar. They normally count on Canadians to fill this ship and that's not happening this time. This cruise goes from Vancouver to LA. I am trying to figure how to respond to your post. Please forgive me. We are considering booking this same cruise. Have you booked air yet, or will you wait? We will be flying out of Cleveland, OH, or nearby. I do not know if it will be a problem not flying in/out of the same city.
davekathy Posted August 8, 2016 #18 Share Posted August 8, 2016 (edited) We did the Pacific Coastal Cruise on the Jewel Of The Seas September 2015. Vancouver to LA. No Ensenada stop. On our Alaskan cruise(I checked beforehand) we were the only cruise ship in port!:)

You call Choice Air; they are usually good for one way bookings, Also, check the airlines and see who gives you the best price...If you belong to Captain's Club, you can ask for an upgrade. A2 to an A1; no higher than that! Edited August 8, 2016 by Lastdance

I actually love Ensenada. Try Tours by Locals (Mariana). She is very informed and charming, and you'll have a great time. Or go to Punta Moro (a hotel just a couple of miles from the cruise port) for an upscale lunch with topnotch seafood and a table with a view about three feet from the surf on the rocks. There is a fabulous art and furniture gallery in the "nice" part of town with all the shops; you can find some reasonable one-of-a-kind pieces from very polite vendors. Or there's the party scene near the ship, three good fish tacos and a beer for about $5. We spent a couple of hours doing shots and beers with some crazy Croation tourists and had a lot of fun. NancyIL Posted August 11, 2016 #22 Share Posted August 11, 2016 As 7-night Pacific Coastal itineraries go - this one is pretty mediocre. I think that's why Celebrity had to practically give it away. We originally booked the Sept. 11 7-night Pacific Coastal cruise from Vancouver to San Diego. When Celebrity wanted to charter the ship in San Francisco for 5 days in October, they changed a bunch of the fall itineraries, and the Sept. 11 cruise became another Alaska cruise. I didn't like the itinerary of the Sept. 18 Pacific Coastal - so booked the Sept. 25 7-night cruise from Vancouver to San Francisco. When Celebrity didn't get the charter, our 7-night Pacific Coastal cruise was extended to a 12-night.

We will then spend a night or two at the Grand Canyon, then on to Las Vagas for 3-4 nights. best part will be meeting up with our American friends.
