Children in the Diamond Lounge?

Recommended Posts

On a Freedom of the Seas cruise last year in the Suite Concierge lounge, there were 2 young children misbehaving (very loud talking, picking up food and then putting it back on the plate, and running around the room). The Concierge spoke to the parents about the behavior, but the parents did nothing to correct the problem. After the second warning to the parents to keep their children under control (and still no behavior correction), the Conceirge called security to have the parents and children removed from the Concierge lounge. We never saw then again in the Concierge lounge for the rest of the cruise. Sure wish other Diamond and Suite Concierge would do the same thing when similar behavior occurs.
Well handled -- was the Concierge Rahul?

Then why are so many posting here that they are? Why don't they do or say something to the rugrats parents?

CC drama maybe, more impact if you can lead everyone to believe it's on every cruise, and how do you know that they don't talk to parents.

This thread is over a year old, I asked back then, what are the adult conversations people feel they must refrain from if kids are around? I don't ever recall any profanity or lewdness in all my cruises, which profanity is against guest conduct policy anyways, kids or no. I support kids being allowed in, I also support active parenting to watch your kids, decide what is a suitable venue, and what behavior is acceptable from both your child and behavior your child is exposed to by others. Anyways, no one has said what those sensitive conversations are

I think the big deal is adults would like to be able to enjoy the cocktail hours without having to censor everything they say because children are there.

I think the big deal is some parents let their kids do whatever they want without correcting their behavior, and staff usually won't say anything for fear of angering those parents.

I think the big deal is having kids there changes the whole dynamic.

Where is the like button, lol, well said.

I was on the Quantum 2 years ago and this very unfriendly couple came in with their 2 children almost every night. The little boy was so bad sitting on tables, spilled someone's drink, and threw food on the floor. The parents never corrected them and the diamond concierge never said a word. We all cringed when they came in.

I don't like this new policy and think that their should be at least a 16 year old age limit but that won't stop me from going to the Diamond or Concierge Lounge.

If the kids have status/are in the correct cabin class they have as much right as the next person to be in the lounge. If you are going to complain it should be about those sneaking into the lounge - and from what I have seen/read it is adults doing that.

Not really, they're parents need to accompany them. So they don't have the same rights. [emoji6]

They just don't want the kids there, and had to concoct some excuse. 99.9% of the time, kids are better behaved on cruise ships than adults!

I'll always give people a chance to expand on their canned responses. They just repeat themselves without reasoning or logic.

Like in dress code threads where they call men slobs and I ask if women should be held to same standards and it is always crickets chirping.

People just don't want to admit they just want some things "their" way so they make up vague excuses that they can't really back up with even the most lax questioning. I'd have a lot more respect for someone if they just said I just don't like having kids around and leaving it at that instead of trying to spin a web of nonsense

My view is always that if people don't cause trouble and are well behaved and don't bother me they can dress the way they want in the MTD restaurant and also frequent the DL if they are eligible.

That's the problem. Many are not and the parents are too busy drinking for free, The Staff is afraid to say anything because they may not get a "10"

You make a very good point! This was actually a problem in the Suites Lounge and Coastal Kitchen on our last two cruises. The parents gave the kids iPads to entertain and then ignored them. When they got bored they left the table and stuck themselves like starfish to the glass window right in front of our table. :o

We have also seen a teenager stretched out in bare feet, shorts and tank top on one of the purple couches during the Captain's Cocktail reception with his brother sitting at a large round table by himself, while the father was at yet another table. Clueless that others were standing and looking for a place to seat their own families...

While this would be a perfect opportunity for parents to train their children how to behave in social situations, that is not always the case. And you are right, the Concierges seem paralyzed to mitigate these behaviors probably for the reason you have mentioned.

I thought I was!! You mean you're not a doctor??!! ;p;p:')

I applied to medical school. They laughed so hard, three of the people ended up with broken ribs and one suffered a concussion when she fell out of her chair and hit her head on the neighboring chair on the way to the floor. I did get a nice rejection letter however, thanking me for a good laugh. I assume the letter was sent by one of the people who was not injured.

Oh no....the little tykes are banned from a middle of the night only bar set up and a smoky casino??!! Oh how cruel!! :o;p;p

Nightclub is not middle of the night only. And I didn't say kids should be admitted there. I am addressing the question of where are there adults only venues that kids can't go. There are two. Go enjoy the adult only space. The smoke in th casino is disgusting, RCI needs to eliminate that and make it smoke free
