RedneckBob Posted September 23, 2016 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Hi y'all, Redneck Bob hear. Me and the Misses are booking a b2b cruise on the Equinox; first cruise 10 day Caribbean to eastern zone to/from Ft Lauderdale; disembarks on April 24, 2017. Then the next cruise is 11 day jazz cruise to Caribbean and New Orleans depart April 24, 2017 out of Miami. This means that after all of us passengers get off the Equinox in Ft Lauderdale, let say by 10 am, the ship immediately sails to Miami, to pick me up and others to go on the Jazz cruise the same day. Celebrity said I could not stay on the ship to sail to Miami. Has any of y'all out there ever heard of such a thing. I'm Redneck Bob and try to see it like I tell it, I mean tell it like I see it. bwg03 Posted September 23, 2016 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Fascinating. I have never heard of such a thing. I think it would be quite neat to stay on the ship from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami. I wonder if it's an immigration policy that prevents B2B passengers from staying on.

You cannot begin your journey in one US port and end in a different US port without visiting what's deemed a foreign distant port (closest ones are ABC islands off the coast of S. America). This is true even if they are two separate cruises. Edited September 23, 2016 by voyager70
G&G Posted September 23, 2016 #4 Share Posted September 23, 2016 Wow. Never heard of this. I checked it out and the Equinox drops off passengers in FLL on 04/24/17, then sails to Miami, picks up new passengers and departs Miami by 6 pm on 04/24/17. wallie5446 Posted September 23, 2016 #5 Share Posted September 23, 2016 It is the repositioning of the Equinox from a home port in Port Everglades to year round in Miami. I thought there was a thread a few months back were the Celebrity person said those on the B2B could stay on. Call the Capt Club, they tend to have better info than the reg CSR. Yes, it is the move from home of Port Everglades to Miami. They have said boarding for those of us getting on I'm Miami will not begin until 12:30. Others on the Roll-Call who are doing the B2B have also said they were told that can't stay on the ship between Port Everglades & Miami.

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app Great idea, maybe it will happen. If not it's really quite easy & inexpensive to get from Port Everglades to POM. If you can afford these B2B cruises I would think you can swing the cost for transport ;)

Sent from my iPhone using Forums mobile app You beat me to it. I was thinking the same thing. They could handle your luggage for you too, then let you B2Bers on the ship first in Miami. I would think they would want to keep all of you together.

Celebrity said I could not stay on the ship to sail to Miami. Has any of y'all out there ever heard of such a thing. Yes. They would do that routinely on the one-way Hawaii cruises when the ship would sail from San Diego to Ensenada. while passengers rode a bus down from San Diego to Ensenada and then boarded the ship there. It was done for the same reason, to prevent violation of the PVSA. It was the same old story, with many complaining: the ship is right here in San Diego, but they won't let us on it. So you stand (or sit) there watching your ship pull away from the dock without you, and then you go get in line to board the bus. I am thinking that they will probably provide a bus for you if they have a large group doing the transfer from Ft. Lauderdale to Miami. Or if there are only a few of you, likely agree to comp a limo or taxi for you instead. But your bus ride would not be as adventurous, because they are unlikely to provide you with armed police or military escorts, as they did for the bus rides down to Ensenada. :D I found an old notation where we had called the Celebrity Experience Coordination desk - 800 590 6221 about such transfers years ago. They were very helpful, but I don't know if that number would still work today, or if that department even exists anymore. I think that was the number we used several Celebrity presidents ago, back even before Michael Bayley. Rare Jim_Iain Posted September 24, 2016 #15 Share Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) We took a Hawaii cruise a couple years ago where Millennium arrived and disembarked passengers in San Diego. Our cruise was embarking from Ensenada. B2B's were permitted to stay on board but if the got off in San Diego they had to be bussed to Ensenada. Passengers on our cruise had to check in at San Diego and then they bussed us to Ensenada. What a mess. The B2B's loved it and said it was nice to have a ship almost exclusively to themselves for a short cruise and a full day in Mexico. fleckle Posted September 24, 2016 #17 Share Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) We took a Hawaii cruise a couple years ago where Millennium arrived and disembarked passengers in San Diego. Passengers on our cruise had to check in at San Diego and then they bussed us to Ensenada. What a mess. The B2B's loved it and said it was nice to have a ship almost exclusively to themselves for a short cruise and a full day in Mexico. We did that B2B once and as you say, it was very nice having only a few of us remaining on the ship for the short cruise from San Diego down to Ensenada, instead of needing to take that bus ride again. The reason why that was not a PVSA violation (if anyone reading this really cares ;) ) is because we originally boarded the ship in Florida and rode it through the Panama Canal. The itinerary for that first leg of our B2B included a port stop in South America, which satisfied the "distant" foreign port requirement. That is what made it legal for us to embark in one US port and disembark at a different US port. No stop in Mexico satisfies the distant foreign port requirement because all the Mexican ports are classified as "nearby" foreign ports, the same as the Canadian ports. Yes, we are among the many cruise ship passengers who first learned more than we ever wanted to know about the PVSA when we innocently and unknowingly booked illegal B2Bs many years ago. Edited September 24, 2016 by fleckle

Andy Posted September 24, 2016 #20 Share Posted September 24, 2016 (edited) Hi Everyone, This is a highly unusual situation - at least from South Florida. As others mentioned, Equinox is moving from a seasonal Port Everglades deployment, to a Year-Round deployment from Port of Miami. Agree that Celebrity should provide transportation and perhaps luggage assistance for those sailing back to back. I'd strongly recommend calling Captains Club and ask to speak with a supervisor. If enough guests call, Celebrity might consider making an accommodation. As I always say, you have nothing to lose by asking. Please keep us posted. Good Luck ! Classynfun1 Posted September 25, 2016 #23 Share Posted September 25, 2016 I do not think X will provide a bus in this B2B for one important reason. The OPs second leg is booked on a full ship charter, not on a cruise through X. Even though both cruises are on the same ship, X has little to do with booking or servicing the Jazz cruise. Bummer this coincides with a port change.
disgirl Posted September 25, 2016 #24 Share Posted September 25, 2016 The 24APR departure isn't a full ship charter. Its a regular sailing that hits jazzfest in new Orleans. I'm booked on that sailing.... not as a charter guest.
