What do you love about Celebrity Cruise Line?

I'm another newbie going on my first Celebrity cruise this year.

So happy to hear about the non-smoking thing as I wasn't previously aware of that when we booked.

I have no problem with smoking particularly, but on some ships I've found they only allow indoor smoking in the casino so everyone gathers in there creating the smokiest atmosphere imaginable. On one ship you had to go through the casino to get to the restaurants or theatre (or face a very long walk around) and I felt like my clothes smelled bad just from being in there a couple of minutes. (they probably didn't but it was really beyond acceptable levels.)

Coming from the UK it's rare to find places where you can smoke indoors so it's good to find we'll have a similar atmosphere on the ship. Personally if cruise lines do allow indoor smoking I'd rather see a few smoking venues so it's spread out and doesn't get to similarly unpleasant levels in one place. I suppose most non-smokers would be less happy about losing a few clean-aired bars though, so it's a no win. (and there's more of us non-smokers these days after all) Celebrity definitely has my vote with it's policy!

Late night pizza from the buffet.

Is it gourmet? Nope.

Is it authentic Italian? Nada.

Is it artisan boutique? Not a chance!

Is it the perfect slice of greasy deliciousness that you're craving after a few drinks and a night of dancing? Absolutely!!!

Another newbie Celebrity cruiser here - just 3 weeks to go. :D Several people have mentioned bread pudding - where does one find that? It's one of my favorite desserts.

In the buffet at lunchtime. Not on every ship and every sailing but on most Think all S class have it. They serve it warm with hot vanilla sauce. It is most certainly delicious.

I forgot about the rolled hand towels in the rest rooms. I was on Oasis last year and the only "towel" options were paper towels....and not even white paper towels...those brown industrial looking ones. It made the experience feel like a gas station not a luxurious cruise ship. And orchids in the rest rooms on Celebrity as well.

My favorite thing about Celebrity? The unadvertised free drinks in the afternoons at the aft bar on deck 13. You can't beat it. One of the best "Insider's Secrets".

Isn't that only for the people with drink packages?

One of the best things for people without the drink package is knowing that all the pastries and desserts at Cafe al Baccio are free for everyone on board!!! You don't need to purchase a coffee.

And usually a bathroom attendant...at least in the evenings.

It's the little touches, that add up to a great experience.

Love this thread! We will be on our 6th Celebrity cruise January 22nd on the Silhouette. We've loved all of them!! I agree with many of the previous post regarding their favorite things about Celebrity. We have always had the drink package and would recommend it for the ease and not having to worry about the bill at the end of the cruise. We enjoy staying on the ship during port days as the pool area is less crowded and it is like having the ship to ourselves. There are many post on Cruise Critic about small negative things about Celebrity that in the scheme of things are insignificant. As many things in life, a cruise is what you make of it. We've sailed RCCL and Princes and much prefer Celebrity!

For us it's the service, lack of kids, and just a better overall experience (especially coming from Carnival). We are still young and don't have kids, so we love having a better experience without having to break the bank.

And when we don't have perks, I love that I can get the drink package even when DH does not.

Sure. Don't appreciate having a big dipper ride with prices with a 25% fall in one week after booking and that was a year ahead with no UK price promise as the good citizens of the US and Canada get.

So we shall be a one cruise wonders with Celebrity.

Just don't understand a marketing strategy that wants customers but plays this sort of trick with customers who are paying them in excess of $6000.

The op might be looking for positives but he asked what we liked and I am entitled to say NOTHING.

So its the last $6000 they get from us and we will sail with lines that don't play these games, so from us being potentially long term customers they have turned us into 'never again' customers. That must be good marketing strategy:eek:

I am absolutely certain that however good the cruise is there is as good or better who will be happy to take our money and behave better towards us.

Sorry for your bad experience. Here's a tip for the future. Watch a particular cruise itinerary and when it is a price you think is fair, book then. With the Internet, it's easy to hook up with a US or Canadian TA who often can get you a better deal, or the same deal with better perks than you can score on your own directly with any cruise line. Don't blame X for your lack of research. It's always given us a wonderful value and a great time. Whatever you do, hope you enjoy your cruise and all subsequent ones

We love being greeted with a glass of bubbly when we step aboard. Love the chilled towels a cool refreshing drinks waiting for us dockside when returning after a hot port day or the hot soup after a cold one. Love the rolled real towels in the restroom. Love the concierge who offers great insider port advice and bends over backwards to make our trips amazing. Love breakfast on my balcony. Love the staff who go the extra mile with ready smiles.love the fresh waffles and eggs Benedict. The adults only solarium is restful and relaxing. Murano is our favorite specialty restaurant and if you book on embarkation day you get a discount! Love the ease of finding poolside drink butlers as well as waitstaff at the theater. The setup at the ocean cafe is great with its station setup it avoids log lines.

I've read several posts stating champagne when you board, is the champagne complimentary?

Also, read about the drinks when you reboard. Are they complimentary also and what do they offer on reboard one?

BYW, I love eggs Benedict and only eat them when I cruise. Looking forward to it.

The drink on embarkation day is there as you board and is complementary. A lovely start! When you record on hot days it's just cold water, lemonade or iced tea or fruit punch (sorry, no alcohol, but your probably dehydrated anyway!) Usually some type of broth on cold days.. those are served as you wait to board at the dock.

The crew members in their shelter with the iced towels and the drinks and the separate seating area are fabulous advertising for Celebrity--I hope the bean counters in Miami appreciate that. Cannot tell you how many times passengers from ships berthed on the other side of the quay have said they wished they had that and that they're impressed with Celebrity.

Those little touches (like real towels in the public bathrooms) do really set them apart.

Yes! Could not agree more. It is little things like this that always make me smile and always make me feel like we made the right choice choosing Celebrity. You definitely notice it when you're boarding the ship and see other ships do not do the same.

Good tip, if we intended ever to cruise with them again, but we don't. Thanks for the greeting about the cruise we do have booked. We will enjoy it, I am sure, but there are better lines.
