What do you love about Celebrity Cruise Line?

I've read several posts stating champagne when you board, is the champagne complimentary?

Also, read about the drinks when you reboard. Are they complimentary also and what do they offer on reboard one?

BYW, I love eggs Benedict and only eat them when I cruise. Looking forward to it.

Champagne is free, but not very good in MHO. I wouldn't even cook with it...

Sure. Don't appreciate having a big dipper ride with prices with a 25% fall in one week after booking and that was a year ahead with no UK price promise as the good citizens of the US and Canada get.

So we shall be a one cruise wonders with Celebrity.

Just don't understand a marketing strategy that wants customers but plays this sort of trick with customers who are paying them in excess of $6000.

The op might be looking for positives but he asked what we liked and I am entitled to say NOTHING.

So its the last $6000 they get from us and we will sail with lines that don't play these games, so from us being potentially long term customers they have turned us into 'never again' customers. That must be good marketing strategy:eek:

I am absolutely certain that however good the cruise is there is as good or better who will be happy to take our money and behave better towards us.

Good luck to you finding another cruiseline that doesn't drop its prices to fill the ship. They all do it.

I really loved the ships interior design, the lighting, the cleanliness. It really did feel sort of effortlessly elegant. I used to love riding the glass elevator from the top floor all the way down on the Reflection. The main dining room just oozed a sort of 1920s glamour, the pool had that same sort of Art Deco feel to it. The pool exotically felt like a retro travel poster from that period.

And although I thought the lawn might feel gimmicky actually it was wonderful, I can't quite describe how it really helped me to feel less like I was sailing on some giant ship and instead it felt sort of more "natural" somehow, I'm sure on some primal level just being around green nature growing makes us feel better.

There are many things I love about Celebrity. Many have been mentioned (the complimentary flute of sparkling wine(or mimosa) that is offered at embarkation, the consistently personable room stewards, very few children, (and a really nice Kids' Club for ones who are on board), the always helpful Guest Relations desk, the wonderful waitstaff at the Oceanview Cafe, MDR and specialty restaurants, the cold towels and drinks after returning from a hot port of call). I definitely enjoy the lack of daily announcements, that there is no smoking inside the ship and only in designated outdoor areas on the upper deck(I don't gamble in the casino, however I appreciate not having to hold my breath as I walk through to get from one end of the ship to the other on that deck). All the ice cream offered both the no charge ice cream in the cafe, the scoops offered as dessert in the MDR, and the for fee gelato at the Gelataria--is delish (and I love making my own affogato with espresso from al Bacio and ice cream from the cafe). Not gonna lie, I will miss Bistro on Five, however I'm curious about Sushi on Five and its menu.

Most of all, I love that there is no one constantly trying to get me to participate in games or trivia or anything. If I want to do nothing, I can. I've also met some really wonderful fellow passengers and have kept in touch with them. I've sailed with Celebrity since the mid/late 90s, and while some things have changed, many of the things I mentioned have been consistent through the years.

I am new to Celebrity. Tell me what I am going to love about Celebrity cruise line and especially Celebrity Equinox.

I've read a couple of reviews, but what I want to more or less hear about are specifics of what you all love about cruising on Celebrity and for those who have sailed on the Equinox itself, tell me what you love about that ship.

Thanks

I've sailed on HAL several times and Seabourne once and did an oh-so-spartan Semester at Sea as well, so I have some basis for comparison. Celebrity manages to use its economies of scale to deliver a pretty high-end experience at a reasonable cost.

For instance, my parents did an all-inclusive thing with Regents and it was about $5k each for 7 days, including airfare and excursions and alcohol. I got a promotional deal with Celebrity for an Aqua Class cabin, included grats, internet, premium drinks and $1000 OBC (which covered excursions, laundry and other extras) for $7400 for two people for 15 days. Airfare was another $800.

So with Celebrity, my husband and I paid less for a 15-day Panama Canal cruise than my parents did for a 7 day Caribbean cruise, and our cabins etc. were comparable.

Celebrity can do this because they have more people, but it never feels crowded. There are few kids, it's not a party ship (although there is plenty of drinking and dancing, you don't see people puking over the rails ala Carnival or NCL). The passengers are civilized, the food is fantastic, and the crew is very, very warm and professional. I probably love Celebrity for the crew more than anything.

Early on in our relatively brief cruising experience compared to most all the rest of you much more experienced and seasoned travelers.... after sailing on NCL, RCL and HAL we tried Celebrity to see what that line was like.

Although we loved HAL a lot and still do (first cruise first love etc.) one thing was different and very noticeable to us on X............THE OFFICERS. The officers on X were very visible, very approachable and friendly..........much more so than on any of the other cruise lines we had been on. The rest of the crew were also great but not nearly so much as the difference in attitude of the officers on a daily basis when you encountered them.

We continue to love X and think they do offer a quality experience for the price. However, the price/day is creeping up because of all the perk programs I think. Perhaps they should offer a bare bones price w/o the drink and other packages that are bringing up that minimum some of retired folks have to aim at now that Verandahs and Aqua class have become that new minimum with my wife enjoying those naps at sea.

When booking make sure you ask if there is a resident rate. In NJ we get a rate (without any perks) far below published rates.

We have found that we do way better booking celebrity cruises using a particular TA (not allowed to name them)who often sponsors the cruise critic top 25 emails we get. Although the price for the cruise is usually the same, sometimes it's cheaper per person for the cruise fare . We give the TA our state of residence, senior ages, captains club numbers and our loyalty numbers with the TA and have always gotten a great rate with super perks. We even beat Celebrity prices on their sales because the TA is having their sales with added TA incentives. Do a little shopping around. The way I see it, we're all boarding the same ship for the same cruise. Might as well pay the least you can with the most perks possible. We usually sail concierge class or up, so we're not going bare bones!

On the 1 occasion I found a cheaper price, I called the TA and they were able to adjust our rate, keep our cabin with the larger hump balcony, and all of our perks. We didn't need to cancel and rebook or have it affect our insurance. We do keep an eye on the fares for our cruises pretty much up to the sail date. And the TA has always delivered everything as promised. Do a little shopping around. The way I see it, we're all boarding the same ship for the same cruise. 5 cruises on Carnival, 12 on NCL to go along with our 25 on Celebrity. Never saw "puking over the rails" on either Carnival or NCL but have been awakened by loud and rowdy drunks at 3AM twice. Both on Celebrity, different ships, different sailings. Only time that has ever happened in almost 70 cruises so all is not perfect there. Still a nice experience (and we have about 50 more days booked with =X= but really don't get the "our cruiseline is better than your cruiseline" meme that we've never really experienced in our fairly extensive experience. Yes, there are differences, just as the Azamara cruise we disembarked on Saturday far exceeded anything on Celebrity, but just have never seen the horrible experiences that some relate here (often without ever sailing the line they are dissing).

Pretty much everything.... so far

We have never had any bad experiences on X other than poor customer relations when we got stuck in the ash cloud. Administration and organisation can be a bit hit and miss but food and service (most important issues for us) have always impressed us and surpassed the rest. Cabins on the S class are lovely.

The Clown Car has just pulled into the Center Ring!

One of the many things I like about Celebrity is how the Captain of the Solstice pulled the ship in close to watch the lava pouring into the sea from the Kīlauea volcano on Hawai'i at 11pm. A once in a lifetime experience. Mahalo Celebrity.

On our cruise to Bermuda earlier this year from Cape Liberty the captain piloted the ship through the harbor to the Statue of Liberty. Allowed everyone (he did a 360) the opportunity to take photos. A particular thrill for those passengers who had never been to NYC before.

Just an example of what identifies Celebrity and their commitment to their passengers.

Equinox is a beautiful ship, with a wonderful staff. Food was very good, wines a large variety. On the downside, it was a bit low key for me, but a very enjoyable experience.

It was my first X cruise, my first TA. Will be trying the Millennium over Christmas and New Years.

Can you please elaborate on what you mean "a bit low key". Is there music/bands playing till at least midnight or later?
