I don't wake up before 9 a.m. unless I have to catch a flight so I'm the wrong person to ask. I believe it opens at 7 a.m. though.

From the looks of you On Locations, it appears to be open at 7am like the other ships.

Great live thread sppunk and great help :)

Thanks for the wonderful reviews ..... We are going to be on the 1/15/17 cruise. One question if I may. Do you or anyone that has been on the ship have any comments on the lowest level balcony cabins ( how obstructed are they for example? Thanks a million.

I'm a "Celebrity" gal and only am trying NCL because of the cruise around Hawaii. No long ocean voyage before landing. LOL

Go with low expectations of the ship and you will not be surprised. But the cruise around the islands is fantastic!

Okay thanks, is it still offered also on Koningsdam? I am just looking forward to try it out. [emoji5]

Below the bridge, there are some forward facing decks. Are they open to access for passengers?

We were permitted access to the round deck on the bow for the "scenic cruising" past the Pitons in St. Lucia. The deck was only accessible via water tight doors at the end of the halls on deck 5 forward. There is a step over - think pics of submarine doors you see in movies - that could be a bit of a problem for guests with mobility issues.

My god, another question...

Petit Fours in main dining room, was it still served at formal evenings?

From the dictionary: A petit four is a small bite-sized confectionery or savoury appetizer. For the Mariners Luncheons in the Dining Room on several cruises they had Petit Fours listed on the menu card after the dessert item. Sometimes the waiters would forget to serve them unless asked. They were served at the Mariners Luncheon on the Konigsdam after the main dessert. They were small cake-like pastries.

Hors d' oeuvres are served in the lounges at cocktail time.

We were on Westerdam in October in the Pinnacle Bar every evening before dinner. We were told that only the Ocean Bar and Crows nest offered Hors d' oeuvres and only during Happy Hour. Our server went upstairs to Ocean Bar and grabbed us some a few times during the cruise. Hoping this was a one off and not a cut back as we have always had Hors d' oeuvres in Pinnacle Bar on previous cruises.

Okay, but not at regular gala dinners they were served? I thought I read and saw it in some reviews, but I may confuse it with Princess... [emoji5]

Princess used to serve petite fours after formal night dinners - haven't been on a Princess ship since 2013 so not sure what their current offerings are. HAL has them in the Pinnacle Grill, served after dessert.

There are chocolates available in the Explorer's Lounge on some ships (they were available on Amsterdam on our fall cruise) and also on request from the Explorer's Cafe in the evening.

But I read in HAL website they are served when a cocktail is ordered at a bar.

Only saw them available for happy hour on our recent cruise. Could be different on K'dam, haven't been on her.

Cocktail time - is this throughout the whole evening, or just something like "happy hour" for some hours a day?

The Billboard Online lounge had food all evening long (the BB King band would often wander over after their set to grab something). Also, the casino often had something available in the evening.

Thanks, that helps.

What do you mean by food? Did they offer something with the cocktails or do you mean snacks to grab in between?

That's what Explorations and Grand Dutch Cafe also offer, isn't it?

Hors d' oeuvres for the most part... I did see some breads and dessert type items in the casino...

Thank you for the terrific review. We sailed on the Koningsdam this summer and just got back from the Caribbean on the Eurodam. Reading your review was like putting the two cruises together! We agree - love the Koningsdam from top to bottom. DH is still missing the gelato!
