What's the main differences I'll see on the Harmony that I didn't see on the Allure?

Recommended Posts

Big things Harmony has over Allue off the top of my head.

Water and dry slides.

RFID card/WOW band technology integration

Bionic Bar

Wonderland speciality restaurant

Other than that the bones of the ship just about the same.

I was only on Harmony for 2 days, but other than what people have already posted... The cabin is what stood out to me, having never sailed on Quantum class before. These cabins were much larger "feeling" due to the layout. Also, the shower is 20-30% larger, which was very enjoyable.

I also noticed minor changes around the ship to help with traffic flows, such as:

1. No longer have the small bar / desert area (yes they still have deserts) in Park Cafe to the right when you first walk in, it's now wide open to help with traffic flow.

2. Trellis bar in central park is now pressed against a wall, vs at an angle in the park. Again, I think to help with traffic flow in Central Park.

3. Starbucks is now on the Boardwalk, and they have all iPads in the old location to book shows.

4.The Royal Shop (royal gear) is now on the boardwalk, and has the smallest one in the fleet, on the largest ship in the fleet.

5. The inside the restaurant Sabor bar is no longer there, to create more seating (and since the boardwalk sabor bar is gone) they moved it beside Sabor. I also noticed this small bar gets slammed before Aqua shows.

6. The Beach Pool no longer has those built in tables on the front row of seats and no more umbrellas (these were usually closed anyways on sea days, due to high wind).

Other than the cabin changes, most of these are not impacting for the cruise vacation. I'm just noticed these differences on my recent 2 day Harmony Cruise. Enjoy she's a great ship! I managed to go down the water slide 16 times in 2 days! :D

And no magic donut wall on the entryway to Boardwalk, right? I hated them, but DH loved them??!!?

That's correct! They also removed all those beautiful hand carved horses as you enter the boardwalk, again I'd say to help with traffic flow.

I agree Michael. I miss the partially carved horses but it does help with the traffic flow and people can no longer leave their empty drink cups on them.

I also noticed no Pin Wheels candy store on the boardwalk. and no secret stairs to the casino from the RP. There are other items but work is calling.

Curious why they moved the Sabor bar and it's not in the middle anymore? We had many drinks there and being a round bar, it was never too packed, even during Aqua shows. And as I'm writing this, it seems obvious - is that where Abyss ends? :)

Yep.....you've got it right. honestly, not a big fan of the Abyss addition. I like the location of the Sabor on Allure/Oasis--and the slide blocks that nice view at the end of the Boardwalk. DD did the Abyss once on our last sailing, but after that the novelty wore off.....she spent more time on the water slides...

Abyss blocking the view if you have a boardwalk balcony :(

Not especially. We had a boardwalk balcony in November and we still had an awesome view of the aft. We were on deck 11. I'd have that room again in a heartbeat!

I thought Abyss was a great addition, but as with anything - give and take. I'd probably rather have Sabor bar and a more open feeling than a big slide. We'll see how I feel after our Oct Harmony cruise.

No Solarium pool.

^^ This......

"Misters" instead of a pool in the Solarium.....although considering the size of the pool on Oasis/Allure, it's not a huge loss....

Also, I found the Solarium on Harmony to be very breezy and well ventilated. Not so on Oasis or Allure. It was stifling hot on both my sailings, and really couldn't spend any time there....

So the thumbs up goes to the "poolless" Harmony :)

Adirondack Chairs and Low Tables in the smoking area all crammed together. No more "normal" tables and chairs suitable for socializing, card playing, domino's, etc.

Yes, Jim. You are correct! I forgot about that. This picture looks familiar.... I think I took it [emoji23]

Very uncomfortable chairs!

I'd say obscuring. I had a pretty nice view still.

What cabin were you in? We'll be in the last four cabins on deck #9 starboard side...and haven't heard good things about the views...I booked it before the Abyss was known about.
