cruiseguys2009 Posted January 29, 2017 #351 Share Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) It was clarified in the above post so yes, it seems as though you will get the extra point. Yay! Edited January 29, 2017 by cruiseguys2009
ready2cruzagain Posted January 29, 2017 #352 Share Posted January 29, 2017 NCL clarified it later (to someone asking the same question about 2018)... Thank You! Great news! I have to say that I do not do FB and find it a poor way for NCL to take Q & A's.
NLH Arizona Posted January 29, 2017 #353 Share Posted January 29, 2017 hmmm, not being picky but curious. This states for 2017 cruises booked before Feb. 3, 2017 the additional point will still apply. What about 2018 cruises that are booked before Feb. 3, 2017? Will I still get the additional points? Reason I ask, we have a b2b cruise booked for 2018 and half way through the second cruise we will have enough days for Platinum if we get the additional points. If not, then we will be 8 short after our b2b. NCL went on to say that all cruises booked, 2018 included, will get the 9 month out point, as long as they are booked prior to February 3rd. TheDougOut Posted January 29, 2017 Author #354 Share Posted January 29, 2017 I have to say that I do not do FB and find it a poor way for NCL to take Q & A's. It's just "a way" - I was appreciative they were actively engaged with people as questions were coming up. I also spoke with a PCC who offered the same confirmation - yet "another way". But as you said... regardless of how the info came out, it's good news on the 9 month bonus point!

socston Posted January 29, 2017 #356 Share Posted January 29, 2017 LOL. But I'm probably one of the unwashed masses he's referring to. I took my first NCL cruise in late 2011. I've taken 7 total and reached Platinum after the 6th. No wonder there are so many Platinums! Not that I don't appreciate the perks but frankly, it was probably a bit generous for those of us willing to book far enough in advance. I got 14, once 21, points per cruise. Yes, good point. I've gone on exactly one cruise ever and it was this past fall on NCL. I was surprised when I noticed that we jumped straight to Silver level with one vacation. A reward system like this would make more sense if it was a bit harder to climb in levels. I also find it odd that people consider these extra little perks to be the thing that makes or breaks their decision to cruise on a specific line. Not the itineraries or the ships or the price, but how much free laundry and if a bottle of wine adjacent beverage is available?
kba1988 Posted January 29, 2017 #357 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Interesting, we're at 78 points and Platinum....I wonder if we'll stay there or get dropped down to Gold... socston Posted January 29, 2017 #360 Share Posted January 29, 2017 they could of just copy/paste those questions on facebook and put up a new page called FAQ so its easier to find answers to these questions. never everyone has/uses facebook They have a FAQ on the site for the previous Latitudes program. There's a pretty good chance that once they have had time to collect enough questions on the new program to determine which ones are frequent that they will create the same for the updated program. Rare LAFFNVEGAS Posted January 29, 2017 #361 Share Posted January 29, 2017 I can understand those that are upset with the set back of reaching points for the next level. It is a bit disappointing that if you plan a cruise knowing that one will get you over to the next level and now it no longer will. Our last NCL cruise boarding we were just one point from being Platinum of course could not have Platinum benefits. But that cruise had been booked over 9 months out and we were in a Suite so we are well into Platinum status now. But it really does stink for those that were so close. :( We are booked for the Bliss for 2018 so have one that will get the extra points and actually. No more Cruise Next Certificates so planned to book the Bliss for April 2019 in March while on board. Debated if it would be better to book now to get the extra points but dont' think it is worth the extra points. So will just wait. Over all I am Happy with the new changes and glad they are attempting to get more perks for their Past Passengers. They did need to raise the Bar in getting to the higher levels. I would not be surprised to see the Bar Raised again in a year or two.
cruiseguys2009 Posted January 29, 2017 #362 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Hey - good to see you around again. Hope all is well. Hi Hi! Thanks, you too, and yes, because of a new "Secret" upcoming Escape sailing, I can now properly finish "The Adventures". You should see it resurrected very soon. We were unable to do complete the second part because of a whole range of issues that occurred on that second sailing, so we are just going to end up calling it a "Trilogy"! clarkfam Posted January 29, 2017 #363 Share Posted January 29, 2017 You can't book those dinners in advance, though. At least not today. We are going on a cruise in April and I like booking specialty restaurants online. It won't let you do it unless you want to pay for it and fight for reimbursement. The other three are a la carte, so the prepayment amount is zero. If you have a dining package then you can book Moderno in advance for no charge as well. Rare electro Posted January 29, 2017 #367 Share Posted January 29, 2017 I have said this since the first page of this post. The info was leaked. No one from NCL expected this to be out in the public. Their reaction, and then release of information AFTER THE FACT shows that they were scrambling to make something that slipped out look planned. Nothing anyone can do, just deal with it as best you can, and make it work for you as best you can (if you need to book by 2/3). Which begs the question, when were they going to release it? The day that it comes into affect so no-one could rush to get more cruises booked while the 9 month rule is still in effect?

Still Dreaming Posted January 29, 2017 #369 Share Posted January 29, 2017 There are a lot of great contributors on this thread!!! Thank you! I can't believe the questions from people that have obviously not read the thread! Read the entire thread b4 you ask a question that has been answered 2-3 times!!!! We leave on the Dawn 2/5 so I will be watching my latitude points for the extra points for booking 9 months out!!! That and the Escape cruise in October will put us at platinum!!! I will eat every one of those chocolate covered strawberries and I may wash it down with the bubbly!!! Lol!!!

cruiser&flyer Posted January 29, 2017 #371 Share Posted January 29, 2017 I'm betting that in the eyes of many that all you've accomplished is leaving people with the impression that you are simply over obsessed with status. oteixeira Posted January 29, 2017 #372 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Which begs the question, when were they going to release it?The day that it comes into affect so no-one could rush to get more cruises booked while the 9 month rule is still in effect? All speculation of course, but if you were going to make a change, would you leave a small window for people to jump up their status where the whole idea of this one part of the change (the extra point for 9 months) is meant to STOP people from jumping up their levels so quickly? In my opinion they were going to roll this out on the third of February, thus screwing all the people that are booking cruises JUST to get to platinum, or Ambassador as one current poster is doing. Think about that. They are doing 2 x 21 day cruises at 9 months out. If this was announced on the third, as I expect they planned, the poster would have needed to book 2 6 extra weeks of cruising. I am not for or against this cruiser, as they have given a lot of entertainment in this thread. I can tell you I wish I could cruise that much.... Just food for though (and more fodder for the thread).

Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk It should work exactly as it has in the past with the exception that sign-ups will be limited to Ambassador and Platinum Plus members instead of being open to the general public. IOW, Ambassador and Platinum Plus members are NOT being given anything with this perk, NCL has simply taken it away from Platinum, Gold, Silver, Bronze, and any newbies who might have wanted to sign-up. We really enjoyed dinner with the Chief Engineer on the Gem. He looked like he was dreading the whole thing until we started talking about our favorite science fiction shows. I'd love to have another quiet dinner with some introverted techie.
