Shoreside Concierge now contacting Sky Suites?

If you don't want to go down to Michael's Club you can still ask the butler to bring a selection of snacks to your room each afternoon, which is what we did on our cruise last week. (This was both stated to us by the butler and also noted somewhere in some information we got from the concierge. Not sure if this was because we were in the Penthouse. I'm sure the butler's in lower category suites probably wouldn't volunteer that info.) I suppose you could also ask them to bring some tea as well, but they don't bring the whole tea cart set-up like they used to. Perhaps if enough people keep asking for this service in their cabin they will reinstate it as an amenity. I did notice the butlers bringing snack trays to other cabins besides ours in the afternoons so we were clearly not the only ones asking for it.

Yes, exactly. We had a standing order of sandwiches/snacks delivered every day - despite us being told by the MCC that snacks would only be available in Michael’s at 3 pm. Ask and ye shall receive :)

Our Butler was more than willing to deliver our standing order every day and we never went to Michael’s once for the “afternoon tea” as they called it.

We've stayed in a CS and a RS on our last 2 cruises. The only time we were escorted to MC was when we asked a maître d who was standing in the hall what level we were on. He asked what we were looking for and escorted us to MC.

Our last cruise in a RS was after the tea cart was discontinued and our butler brought us either cheese, shrimp, or small bites, or sometimes all 3. He brought cappuccino when requested. We also saw him delivering plates to CS.

I've never in my life been escorted to Michael's Club, whether occupying a sky suite or the penthouse. I'm perfectly capable of going there on my own.

As far as the afternoon snacks, I was sailing in a sky suite when the switch happened. My butler said he would be happy to bring treats to the cabin and he did. Or if he had to be on duty in Michael's, he sent another butler.

.

In essence we would not need that escort either but on our recent cruise my husband and I were both loaded down with carry on bags plus carrying my elderly mother-in-law's bag, so the escort was able to assist us by carrying some of our bags and escorting us.

We were offered an escort when we were in CS on Equinox last week. We turned it down as we knew where we were headed. It's a nice touch. I remember when every passenger was escorted to their stateroom by an attendant when boarding on Celebrity.

I remember that from our 1st cruise in 1997. 5 years later I think it was gone.

I feel it is important for first time suite and/or new to Celebrity, as it is helpful. We are fine to get to MC on our own now, but for those who are new to the suite experience, or Celebrity - being directed to MC and being informed of the embarkation lunch in Luminae is helpful.

  • 4 months later...
When would you expect to hear from the shoreside concierge? We're sailing in a royal suite at the end of the month and haven't heard anything yet.

Our experience has usually been about two weeks before. Last cruise it got to about five days before and we phoned Celebrity (we did have a few requests). We were phoned back within minutes.

When we spoke to him he obviously sorted everything. He said he had contacted us about two weeks prior and had left a message on the mobile voicemail (we checked, he had but we had missed it)...so check all numbers, we had expected either a housphone call or an email...

Thank you. I'll give it a few days before I try calling them. I don't want to miss my chance to try out all the restaurants!!

Alana, you will miss out on nothing. Your butler will ensure that!

Last cruise we prebooked our speciality nights with the shoreside concierge. We particularly wanted window seats in Tuscan on the nights when we were leaving ports and could enjoy the wake view...They secured us a great central position each visit. On our first night in Murano's we requested a back of room corner position....again ours each visit.

The M'Ds prefer you to prebook and then adjust if your choices change rather than trying to fit you in last minute. Murano's is the restaurant that can get busy towards the end of cruise and can be difficult to get prime time seating for...

Make sure you have lists ready for your bar set up too. Not only is it nice for you to walk into your room to your preferred spirits, beers and sodas being ready it saves the staff from having to do a general stock and then restock on what is a busy day.

Hope you have a wonderful cruise!

Have been Elite Plus since the level was created, and this year sailed on three cruises in Aqua Class (twice) and a Sky Suite. Have never been contacted by a Shoreside Concierge nor did I know there was such a thing. Perhaps this is a pilot program.

The shore side concierge contacts guests sailing in a Celebrity Suite and above. The contact is not tied into your Captains Club Status. It is not a pilot program, they've been doing it for at least 3 years.

We were contactcted 8 days before sail in 2014 so this is not a pilot but I do believe that it only applies to CS and above unless the concierge has sorted the upper suites and has time to help sky suites aswell

Our last cruise we sailed in an M Class, Celebrity Suite (loved the layout!) and the entire group of us waiting to board in the first wave were escorted by the Michael's Club Concierge to Michael's Club.

However - those in Sky Suites were asked to go directly to Luminae for lunch. Apparently the Concierge wanted CS, RS and PH guests in Michael's first so that he could meet and greet and give one on one attention. So there are subtle differences in the level of attention given.

Common sense tells me there is no one size fits all answer to this question.

There are always variations related to the individual concierge, the number of VIP arrivals, the time people arrive, the point of departure and many other potential differences in the clients on each cruise.

Some people seem to require a lot more attention than others and I would be willing to bet Celebrity has some idea of who those people are.;p

We are now Elite Plus. 8 yrs. ago we became Elite. Back then we had a phone call from a X rep. before and after all of our cruises. We were not in a suite then. They were not trying to sell us anything , just good will. Too many Elites to do that now.
