I can only speak to what happened on the Dawn, but they did not have a drawing. I would assume it was the same throughout because there was nothing to deposit in a drawing box. In the past you deposited your invitation, but now there is no invitation, so nothing to draw, unless they decided to issue tickets at the door.

But it is early yet with this program so anything is possible.

With us getting the UBP promo for our next cruise the only thing that would have us want to go to this party now would be the drawings (we won a free dinner on our last NCL Jewel cruise). If the drawings aren't happening then I have no desire to attend. We'll spend that time having our free drinks on the Waterfront instead:D

Just read this thread from the beginning. Certainly seems to be changes since Feb 3. No drawing at Latitudes party certainly stinks. Not that I have ever been drawn. 10 cruises.

Did get drawn for dinner and wine at a Cruise Consulant Cruise Next party.

I am running a slot pull and CC Meet on the Dawn next Monday. I was concerned about time and Latitudes Party. Looks like now little to worry about.

I have yet to grasp the reason for attending. With 75% of the passengers having the UBP there is no longer the incentive to get a couple of free drinks, and the canapes - well let's just say with all the food on the ship if that is why you are attending there is something wrong with you. The officers clearly don't enjoy it (at least based on the looks on their faces).

It is a thing of the past that has run its life and needs to go the way of the steamship.

I don't believe 75% of the PX have the UBP. In fact, on my last cruise on the Jade the Beverage Manager told me that out of the 2200 PX, 1200 had the UBP (there were very few children as well. Many people don't drink or don't drink enough to even make just paying the gratuity on the package a good deal. So perhaps a bit over half have it, but 75% would be a stretch. We even usually give away our bottles of wine.

I agree with your assessment. I am sure some itineraries have a higher rate than others. I specifically will avoid buying the UBP, due to the fact I will not drink enough to pay for the gratuities on the package.

I enjoy the latitudes party, and meeting other cruisers. Especially if they are not involved here on cruise critic.

Similarly, I could not drink that much alcohol to justify it. Actually, I avoid hard liquor. I too enjoy the parties and the limited wine offered is good enough.

I think the UBP will certainly cut down on the attendance but like others, I enjoy visiting with others and hearing about new builds, itineraries, etc from the staff. I could do with less of the Next certificates and MasterCard commercials, but . . . Over the years we have won a few small gifts, nothing grand, but it was fun.

Texasreb, last week our CC meet greet was at 11:00 and the latitudes party followed at 12:30. The slot pull was immediately after the meet n greet so if it had run long I suppose it could have conflicted, but I think it was over in time. But so few people even knew about the party, I'm not sure that is a good measure.

The silver sleeve that contained your coupon for meals, laundry, etc., has been replaced by a blue trifold. It is perforated in places and you tear off the items as needed.

BUT! Be sure to read the text which tells you call the latitude desk for other offers, or something like that. This includes the time and place of the cocktail party. They no longer send an invitation to your cabin.

As platinum plus we did get a phone call but no one in Other groups did. Apparently a few people did call to ask about it but not many. At the party which was for silver through plat plus, there were 40 people there! Oops! So, call and bug your poor rep if you plan on attending the party. She did tell me yesterday that she had been given permission to post the info on her office door, which has been a no no until now. But you will need to make an effort to get the info.

I am silver and my husband is bronze. Will we both be able to attend the party?

Those of us who are Platinum and above already know the benefit of purchasing the CruiseNext certificates. We have been using them for years! We love to get the discounted certificate to book our next cruise, so the individual sales pitch really isn't necessary.

Your not kidding. :) I've been using them for around 15 years. I redeemed 20 in the past year. Every one of those- a $125 savings in my pocket.

It has been my experience, that a spouse, or cabin mate, will be allowed to accompany an upper level party. This does not apply for people who want to bring another couple or more. I suppose it varies by ship, but for a silver plus who wants to bring a spouse or cabin mate is usually allowed. If it has not been allowed (for ONE person) I've not heard of it.

Our PCC did not have exact numbers but said that Platinum-Plus members were about a thousand.
A certain number of those members (again, hard to estimate) are no longer cruising because they are too frail, or deceased, but they may remain on NCL's list for many years.

In the end it doesn't matter how many Platinums or Platinum Pluses there are on the books, if they're just sitting at home or whatever. It only matters how many are actually on each sailing, and that is something that varies enormously, as most longtime cruisers know by experience. NCL has the precise numbers (but I doubt they would be willing to share them with us).

Do you have any info as to what the priority seating actually entails? I have my doubts as to whether this will actually ever be something that gets used.

Also, did the priority embarkation work as described?

Just back from our Escape (febr 4) and Getaway ( feb 12 )cruises.

In the terminal you can take the platinum/platinum plus/ ambassador line. Then go to a special waiting area for those members. Someone picked us up on the Escape and escorted us,we were one of the first ones on the ship. The next week on the Getaway we were in this same area and when the first boarding group was called , it look as they forgot us. So the whole group start walking and then we board but there was already a big line.

We were on febr 4 one the first day after they started the program, but on our second one Platinum Plus was on our keycard [emoji6]

We liked the free minutes internet, but you have to go to the internet manager to " put " it on your account. We also did the Behind the scenes Tour on the Escape, go to the cruise next desk.

What about the discount on shore excursions? Can the be booked ahead of time with the discount or must it be done on the ship?

You can book ahead, but the discount is only automatically applied if you booked the cruise after 3rd Feb.

If you booked before that then you will be charged the full price and they will refund as OBC onboard.

I don't know numbers but even if there were several hundred there wouldn't be that number on the same cruise and not everyone wants to eat dinner with an officer.

We are 3 points from Platinum Plus :o

We were on the Gem Feb 7th sailing. Platinum Plus... 4 couples had dinner with the Captain and the Chief Engineer...Was great! Fun and informative not a bit stuffy! Sign up...you won't regret it!

WOW! They must have added that recently because it wasn't there when they first posted the new perks.

I can't believe they are charging for sides on the platinum meal.

NCL, that is a new level of cheap!

I wonder if I can trade my bottle of wine for some broccoli and potatoes:rolleyes:

Just stop by buffet on way there or afterwards for sides lol

Question:

On the Breakaway I made reservations for 2 of the free MDRs to coordinate with the shows and also reservations for the 2 Platinum extra charge restaurants (will use the free coupons) and received e-mail confirmation of the reservations from NCL. So, will I find something in my cabin for these reservations or will I need to bring and show the e-mail confirmations at each of these 4 restaurants once on board? Not sure of the procedure since last year on the Gem we booked Le Bistro with Platinum coupon on board and just went to each of the MDRs night by night. Same thing with the 2 shows, use the e-mail confirmation or will there be something in the cabin for their pre-made reservation?

Thanks!

MARAPRINCE

When you go to the dining room they can print out for you all your dining time s and where they are. They don't provide a list in your room anymore. And you don't need to bring anything with you except your room key and the certificate

You can actually get a print out on the first day when they have a special desk set up somewhere for the taking of bookings for the Specialty restaurants. Or at any time when there is a dining reservation desk near the Guest Services. Or at any restaurant desk when they are open.

Can you tell us more about the dinner? Was it in a MDR or Specialty?

Did they have a choice of nights?

I might need to talk my DH into attending;)

Any news on the preferred seating? Info about what this involves has been quite elusive.
