Why do you love Celebrity?

We love the relaxed atmosphere on Celebrity, it is quiet but not too quiet, has activities but you don't feel obliged to join in them, people are respectful of each other...we do (occasionally) use other lines but we have found our 'fit' in Celebrity.

Exactly, plus the food and service, make Celebrity our cruise line of choice.

We love the shade on the S class ships - plenty of loungers by the outdoor pool and of course plenty of loungers by the indoor pool. My husband and I return home to New Jersey after 3 weeks on Celebrity cruises and 2 weeks in Florida with very little sun tan. As my husband's cousin says "the sun is not your friend. The cousin has lived in Florida for the past 35 years. Hope the Edge class ships have a lot of shaded areas.

The more I read on Cruise Critic and other discussion boards the more I feel it is about finding something that 'fits you like a glove...'

Best recommendations to a first time cruiser...

Try out the speciality restaurants.

Spend time just sitting and relaxing on your balcony or on deck.

Read your Celebrity Today and join in a few things...if you fancy them, if not don't...

Just relax and enjoy...let life sloooow doowwwnnn

Exactly what I would have written!

Sailing Saturday!

Great replies by everyone. It's always good to emphasize the positives as it brings back great memories from past cruises. To me the key to all the great things Celebrity offers is the entire crew and staff. From experience on other lines it seems that Celebrity gives more of its team members the opportunity to take the initiative and provide good personal service. 3 stand out examples from our last cruise on Reflection:

1. The bartenders, waitstaff and sommeliers work hard to get to know you and your preferences. By day 3 the sommelier in Luminae had my wine tastes down and I never had to pick another wine for the rest of the cruise, and the bartenders at the Sunset Bar led by Santa Claus are legendary.

2. DW and I were seated next to another couple at dinner in Luminae and struck up a conversation with them. They mentioned they had been at one of the specialty restaurants the night before and we asked if they ordered the specialty dessert there. They said they wanted to but ran out of time before the nightly show. We inquired whether it was possible for the dessert to be served to us that night and the maitre'd personally escorted all of us to that specialty restaurant just for dessert!

3. I suffer from back problems and the room attendant noticed that I was scrunching up pillows to try and mimic the support pillow I have at home. When we enter the room after dinner my pillows had been replaced by that exact support pillow! I had never thought to ask for one, but thankfully she recognized I needed one!

As I mentioned these are the standouts from our last cruise, but are far from the only examples, it seems like all of the staff always takes a few seconds to smile or say hello. I mean even security greets you warmly when re-board the ship!!!

Virtual balconies on Royal are actually a great feature for inside cabins. Don't see anything wrong with it

I wish all ships had them.

I believe they are referring to balconies on Oasis that face inwards towards the park or boardwalk. Personally I liked the Promenade cabins on Voyager and Freedom class, but the concept might feel more intrusive on Celebrity.

Yes... this could be a case.

But Oasis class is a completely different animal (Voyager - Liberty in some sense too). There is no reason to compare them to Celebrity ships. Each company/ship has own nice things.

Celebrity is nicer more refined line, but it is nice not because other lines/ships have their features.

What I love about Celebrity ...

Simple Elegance, no flashy, showy decor.

Staff is the best hands down from other cruise line staff.

No smoking in the Casino and inside anywhere!

Martini bar is awesome and shows there are great.

Excellent food

No Frat party time atmosphere.

Best staff in the business, did I mention that already? It's true.

Why I love X. Boarded Reflection this morning. Sat in Michael's Club for less than an hour before Luminae was open for lunch, and was asked at least 4 times by the concierge if everything was good. Lunch in Luminae has been wonderful. This ship is stunning.

For us it is a great fit! I love the glass of sparkling wine waiting for us when board. The buffet always has something I like. I was always able to find a quiet corner when I didn't feel like retreating to our cabin.

Went on a cruise with college friends and we brought our adult daughters mid-twenties. They had a great time. Since then both girls have been on another cruise one on Royal Caribbean and the other on Carnival and they both said they liked Celebrity better.'

We hope you love Celebrity as much as we do.

I have been on many different cruise lines over the years. The product of each line has evolved over the years. Based on the lines I have sailed on the larger mass market ships I feel personally Celebrity has the p best current overall product. I have sailed recently on Princess and it was a notch or two below Celebrity as far as the overall food goes. Same for NCL and Holland America. You have to consider it is very subjective. Every line has its fans and loyalty. I am sure there are many Princess fans that do not care for Celebrity. I love to cruise and continue to move around to different lines and products. Always try to make the best out of something that could be better. Celebrity is one of the overall best lines for me but I really have never had what I call a bad time on any cruise or ship.

As mentioned, the #1 reson we switched over was the non-smoking policy! It's wonderful to play in the casino or walk around inside and not be covered in smoke.

Once we tried X, all of the other added amenities made us realize it was the perfect line for us.

We've cruised exclusively for years on Royal and the only place indoors where smoking is allowed is a portion of the casino. They don't allow it on the balconies, cabins or any of the common areas either. If you are walking around covered in smoke anywhere other than the casino something is on fire. The casino may smell smoky to you, but that's the only place that's different from Celebrity. They have a very small cigar lounge but it has a completely separate ventilation system and is very secluded and secure.

All that is very true, however, to those who are sensitive to smoke (like I am) it is very unpleasant. On our last Royal cruise in 2014 (which will remain our last until/unless the smoking policy changes) on the Legend, the casino was so smoky that I not only couldn't use it AT ALL, I also could not walk through it. We had to go up or down a deck to go from the MDR to the theater. On some nights we couldn't even enjoy the show because the excess smoke from the casino drifted into the theater. It is not the smell I object to, it is the sore throat that I get from inhaling the second hand smoke. I know that everyone is not as sensitive as I am, however for folks like me it is wonderful to be able to use the casino and walk through it, or near it without our throats suffering.

We originally started out as being loyal to Royal (Caribbean); but we tried Celebrity once due to its outstanding European itineraries. Now we rate Celebrity slightly above Royal Caribbean. To start with the ships (S class) are sized just right and are really modern & contemporary. The ship looks slick inside and out, and that sets a super first impression. The crew is just as laid back/ friendly & yet professional, as on Royal Caribbean and that suits our style perfectly. The food is outstanding, the performances/entertainment is top notch, and the itineraries cannot be beat.

Going on the Celebrity Reflection in 8 weeks (after 3 cruises on the Silhouette) and we can't wait.
