So what are your tricks for hand washing in your cabin and getting your clothes dry?

I only lost on 2 cruises and won on 22.I win in NY and CT casinos as well.If I am up $500 or more I quit whether it is day one on a cruise or the first hour in a land casino.

When someone I do not know tells me something that is extremely unlikely, I am not inclined to believe it.  I am not calling you a liar - I believe there are people who have the happy facility of remembering only good things and tending to forget the bad.

it is so highly unlikely for anyone to come out ahead 22 times out of 24 trips  to a casino, that I believe my scepticism is wholly justified.  I am happy for you that you just retain happy memories;  the fact remains: I believe that, rather than you having come out ahead 22 out of 24 times, you are simply not remembering well enough to keep actual count.

Perhaps if you have only gone to a cruise ship casino three times and managed to come out ahead twice, I migh buy that.  But if you are telling me that you have gone many times and “almost always win”, I do not believe you.  The more times you go, the more certain it is that you will lose. The reality of the casino business is that the house wins —-period.

And a cruise ship has no competition so you can't walk next door.  So I've little doubt that their machines anyway are tight.

Friends have said to me the equivalent of "wow, you win a lot."  My reply is I only talk about (or take pix of) when I win 🙂  We don't call it gambling but rather "we're making our donation to the local economy."

Since we had a conversation on a ship once ,technically it is not that you do not know me.

I have found that the best chance of winning is on the first night of the cruise and I almost always win on that night.I have never won great sums of money. The most ever was $541.67 on a cruise in 2017 .I only play slots.A woman seated next to me said that I will give it back.I took it home.

If I am up $500 or more on night one,I take it home. There are other activities on a ship.

I will never take more than $200 to gamble. I lost on my last two cruises.

I usually (almost always) play nickels but this place's minimum was quarters.  Cruise related, perhaps I'll keep these hundreds for the ship!

I’ve hear this complaint before and wonder —- we regularly use the ship’s “stuff the bag” program.  It is amazing how much you can get in the bag - and not having to spend time washing, and hanging, and living with the hanging drying clothing is worth the actually fairly reasonable charge.  We have never had clothes damaged (I think that is just some more cruise myth - like always winning in the casino, or buying a ring for $50 at St. Thomas and having it appraised for $500 at home) - or course we do not send silk blouses or things like that out - nor would we at home.

I think if you have fairly robust clothes, it’s ok.  My husband’s cotton shirts, jeans and chinos come back just fine, barring the occasional mashed button.  Some of my stuff is rayon/viscose, or thin cotton knit that gets pulled out of shape.  Most of my jeans are black, and they’ve come back noticeably greyer, so I’ve given up on sending my stuff, even though we get at least a couple of bags free through the loyalty programme..

And I never lose money in the casino, largely because I never set foot in the place! 😁

As my parents aged, my Dad became a miser, and didn't want Mom spending money on their house.  So when they went to a casino, Mom loaded up the machine with $20's and then cashed out.  She would show him the paper ticket for say $500, and maybe another one for $300, and he didn't complain when she bought a new washing machine or piece of furniture.

So, in an unusual way, she did come out of the casino a winner.

To answer the OP's question about laundry, I just used the $15 specials for sox, tees, and shorts when I first started cruising.  I considered it money well spent, as I'm on vacation and not cooking, cleaning, making the bed or doing laundry.

Now on 2 lines (Carnival and NCL) I get free laundry as a loyalty perk.

On other lines, I'll still look for the laundry special.  Except for Celebrity, where I heard laundry service runs about $50/bag, YIKES!

Not $50 per bag on Celebrity.  They also run specials- and if you are an Elite plus member get a couple of bags of laundry per cruise free.  I agree on vacation why do laundry- my only exception is swim suits.  Items that require dry cleaning, typically wait until we get home- unless something I need to wear again.
