We will be touring when tickets are due to arrive

We will be touring Canada for 2 weeks before we board our Princess Line cruise from Vancouver. For the last 5 days before the cruise we will be in the wilderness with no internet or phone access.

Our tour agent says "tickets will be emailed to you 7 - 10 days prior to departure which will need to be printed".

I am assuming this is because they do not get the final information from Princess Line until just before the cruise, even though we will have paid in full 3 months earlier.

We are going to have very limited access to printing facilities (only what quite basic hotels are willing to do for us), so has anyone else had this problem and how much do we really need to print out?

What about luggage labels? Can you pick these up at the port, or have these to also be printed out?

Thanks for your help, Art

I don't understand your TA's comments since Princess hasn't mailed tickets in years. After final payment, just log onto Princess.com and go to the Cruise Personalizer (when you log on your upcoming cruise will display - just pick manage this booking). Make sure you have completed the Guest Check-in and then print your boarding pass and luggage tags. We also print our travel summary and, if we have Princess insurance that information too.

Have a wonderful cruise!

What kind of tickets are you looking for?

You can print luggage tags and boarding passes yourself up to 75 days before the sailing date by going to the cruise personlizer on the Princess.com web site. Just go to the site, log in, and then select cruise personlizer. You can handle all your own requirements there without involving the T.A. If you arrive at the pier without luggage tags the handlers will have some. Have your boarding passes and cabin number with you. Oh, and make certain you complete the immigration information in the cruise personlizer. Without the complete information, including credit card no. the system will not allow you to print.

I'm not sure what your T.A. is speaking about. Princess hasn't mailed boarding passes and luggage tags for probably 10 years or so.

Sounds like this TA is used to other vendors that still send things out. Also, I think the OP is from another country.

Most travel agents out there are not cruise specialists and don't deal with Princess every day (especially if not in the US). Many specialize in other things or are general travel agents.

Tell the T A to print the stuff now and mail it to you now!

I wouldn't use a TA that made me print my own boarding passes. That should be part of the service they provide!

And then you run into timing problems like the OP 's. Personally, I would rather print my own docs and not rely on the postal service.

Take note all - the OP writes that the tickets will be "EMAILED" 7-10 days before. Not "mailed"!!

OP - will you not have email access at all in those two weeks? Most all hotels nowadays offer WiFi and can print boarding passes, etc.

And, unless this is something extra your TA is doing for you - you can print your boarding pass (and luggage Tags if you like, but they're available at port too) at any point aft 75 days before your cruise, once you've completed your cruise personalizer information.. I'd highly suggest you do so before you leave on your trip, to ensure you have everything ready to go.

"Worst case scenario" is you arrive at port without a boarding pass - it takes a few extra minutes to verify you on the manifest, then you go to check-in..

I was beginning to wonder if anyone had actually read the question.

OP - WHEN are you leaving?? You can access your boarding pass and luggage tags anytime after 75 days before the cruise (as noted above). If you're traveling for 3 full months before your cruise...do you need anyone to carry your bags??? I'm available.:D:D

Thanks everyone for all your help. Fantastic advice from all of you!

It looks as if it is just my TA being peculiar. Perhaps they have problems with flight changes (although we are not using their flights) so they like to wait until the last minute before sending stuff out to save doing it twice.

Anyway, I shall take all your advice, wait a couple of weeks after paying the final balance and then log directly on to the Princess web site and print out all the stuff well in advance.

JF- we are just out of England a couple of weeks before the cruise, but we are touring up through Vancouver Island and then disappearing off the map to Great Bear Lodge. That and the cruise is costing a fortune, so we are economizing on the hotels en route. If we were stuck for a couple of pages I am sure they would print it, but you often get reams of info sent to you and I did not want to have to ask our hotels to print out a whole load of stuff.

Anyway, Now I know what to do and the problem is solved.

Thanks again everyone, Art

Worst case, you're heading right from the wilderness to Vancouver on the morning you cruise and you cannot manage to get any printing done at all before then or lose your prior copies or something, you can go to the central library in Vancouver who don't just have free internet but will allow printing (at a small cost).

It's less than a mile from the pier, well-known by all the locals, a stop on HOHO etc. and ridiculously easy to spot - looks much like the Colosseum in Rome. They're even open Sundays, though an hour later than other days (11am; 10am rest of the week). If it's not a Sunday departure, there's an even closer option - the UPS Store in the Sinclair Centre only a couple of blocks away (another interesting building, old heritage buildings joined into one larger space by modern additions).

One can show up to the pier with just their passport and they will be let on assuming they have filled out the info online. Luggage tags are available at the pier.

I forgot my boarding pass at the hotel and it was not an issue and did not take up any more time.

Reading thru this and do understand some confusion...but just as Coral has said you can still gain access with out any paperwork just your passport. Lats month I misplaced mine and just walked up to a desk that had the manifest she filled our health sheets with our cabin number....easy...no worries.....

A number of years ago, I used a TA in Florida I had been referred to or found, and told her I didn't need anything - that I was quite self-sufficient. Well, wouldn't you know it, the thick, heavy package shows up in the mail with a stack of Princess and agency paperwork, plastic luggage tags, and a beachbag (the last two advertising items). It was an expensive mailing to Ontario for her. The papers all went to recycle and IDK what ever happened to the beachbag. I don't think we liked the big logo on it.

IDK why anyone needs a TA to mail them Princess BP and luggage tags when they are online for printing if needed. Princess needs to get with technology - not only is BP not really needed at the port, it could be on a smartphone like airlines with a QR code. Of course, they are technically-challenged with old internet and the replacement will perhaps be out of date by the time it gets rolled out.

Was this in Vancouver? Because every time I've boarded here (except one 3-ship day when Check-in was first) it's been Security first, and if you don't have actual paper docs in hand they will not let you into the security queue... there's a person at the front of the line before the scanners whose only discernable jobs are shouting at approaching pax to show their cruise booking papers and then actually looking at the displayed paperwork to ensure it's for one of that day's ships.
