I could have my guests spread out on the cool marble floor of my YIN cabin...wait a minute, that's only in the HC version with the matching marble vanity.

I'm in the same boat ... or ship! LOL No marble for us. Boo!

Well, if you're going to use Titanic as an example, should I point out just how many times that Jack, despite being in steerage, was a guest in the first class areas of the ship?
And for breaking the rules he got what he deserved in the end. (On my list of most hated movies)

Lol, if I recall... they were quite reluctant to let him in that one time and did not let him forget his place. He also had to go as far as save a damsel in distress to even get that reluctant invitation. :D

But an invitation nonetheless...and he wasn't restricted to just visiting their stateroom.

Ha ha! We have the marble at home...we don't need it on the ship.

I find it amusing on these board while discussing the ins and outs of Seaside. It almost seems like EVERONE is in the YC!! Or in suites at least! LOL! Sounds like it's going to be MORE croweded in YC!!

You can't go three posts without someone asking if they get it free in YC!! How did you not know what you were getting when you paid the extra money for YC!! Maybe the free drinks, private restaurant and the butlers were all you desired? I get it.

Still can't comprehend why the HC YIN has the same matching marble as the balcony YC suites and it's also the same marble as the flooring and desk in the YC reception area according to video I have seen. They went cheap on our cabins and why?

Really?

Well, bummer. I hope they don't have too many differences from their advertisements. Don't want to start out disappointed about something technically irrelevant just because we expected something different and were misled.

Why do they have marble in the HC and not in the regular ones?

Well if someone from steerage saves a passenger from jumping overboard, they too can be invited to the YC and not just restricted to the cabin. Well for just a dinner of course, then back to steerage! ;)

Hm, I am certain they really did not want him to go near the stateroom. He probably had lice and fleas - remember, he never got checked. Rose just didn't care because .. well, she was a rebellious teenager.

Well in this instance MSC advertised "marble bathrooms" in the YC staterooms. Seems all the YC cabins got them on SEASIDE except for the standard insides. The wheelchair accessible insides got the marble bathroom, but not the standard insides. Not a big deal overall but just what MSC advertised. It's odd because on MERAVIGLIA the YC insides did get marble bathrooms. Perhaps MSC didn't pay their marble supplier for Seaside?

I am just loving all this Titanic talk when we all are afterall, going to be on a ship! LOL!

Yup in my case this pretty much sums it up ... but more important than all that is space. You are really paying for space and no crowds. Heading out to the pool at noon and not worrying if you will ever find a deck chair. No concern about finding seats in the buffet and never actually having to set foot in the buffet. That is the true appeal for me. And yes it's nice having pretty much everything included. Drinks and that all important spa pass which I love. I honestly don't care too much about the cabin.

If anyone wants the Titanic, you can go have an all around experience somewhere in China - with iceberg and sinking and all.... so I hear.

IRL, I prefer the Caribbean - no icebergs yet, although Florida is currently cold enough to make me think of icebergs. (And not true, I don't prefer the Caribbean at all. My favorite cruise was my Alaskan cruise - lots of little ice floats there).

Could not have said it better myself. Was very happy when MSC changed their policy back in April and extended the drink policy ship wide for those staying in the YC. Am disappointed about the bathroom and only 1 chair in the cabin, which both go against promotional materials as well as picture renderings that were online. Would have liked umbrellas up on 1 deck, but it is what it is.

We usually are frugal and stay in an inside cabin, but decided to take a chance almost two years ago and go for a taste of the good life at a fraction of the cost of the NCL Haven. The video I saw of the lunch time grilled food on the 1 deck will compensate for the lack of shade. I can always chill on a bar stool instead of a shaded lounger and enjoy a concoction of my choosing.

Access to everything the ship has to offer, and the ability to escape the crowds to your private enclave whenever you choose. You can expect to see more and more of it as new ships are delivered. I've only ever enjoyed this type of experience one other time, with The Haven on NCL. It was quite nice and I'm looking forward to it on SEASIDE.

Celebrity is doing the same with The Retreat on Edge. Restaurant, bar, lounge, sundeck, pool, etc.....all exclusively for suite guests.

The misconception of Haven/Yacht Club guests is disturbing and often stems from ignorance or a misunderstanding of what those guests want. For the vast majority of those guests, it is about enjoying the big ship fun with the ability to enjoy a secluded area with luxury service.

When people try to invite extra non-Yacht Club friends into the exclusive area, the area is no longer exclusive. Everyone thinks "one or two extra people won't hurt..." but if EVERYONE tries that, there's no point in even having that area and those who pay for that area are having their experience ruined/damaged by those who did not pay for that experience.

Carnival has their own economical version on their new builds with the Havana area, which is an exclusive area at the aft of the ship on deck five for those staying in certain cabins. It is really just a daytime oasis since it opens up to everyone at 700 pm, but you have to be 13 to stay in one of the cabins, so no rugrats is a positive, IMHO. You still need to go elsewhere on the ship for meals, but the cost for the upgrade is still worth it. Will find out first hand in late August of 2018 & 2019.

Alaska is one of my favorites too....well Bora Bora and Tahiti are favorites too.....oh and the Med is great.....well...I think I like them all!! LOL!

I did hear a new Titanic is being launched though...so we have a chance to try it out!

Exactly. If OP wants to visit her friends, then she and her family need to go visit in the friends’ cabin area.

On Divina YC is included in the behind the scenes tour, you are told YC'ers can invite guests for a fee, so many dollars per person per time, all YC areas, including cabins. You also get a there and then offer of 50% off YC for your next cruise. You have to accept this offer before you leave YC.

Now that offer interests me! How much is the behind the scenes tour?

I'm pretty sure it was about $49. You get back stage and sound booth, laundry, YC and then all the food prep areas, freezers, coolers and kitchens. You finish up in Eataly, with a fancy snack and a complimentary pinny.

It was far better value for money than the tour we did in St Thomas. And if you do YC a good way of getting a big discount.

Look out for it in the daily because it's an excursions special.

I am glad you have raised the issue of the ships tours and the way they include a trip round the yacht club. We recently sailed on the Fantasia transatlantic for 14 nights...five of which were at sea. The one club was well used by YC guests, as obviously there were no excursions....save that is, for the Ships tour. Every morning between 10 and eleven, usually when we were having late breakfast there, the tour arrived. I would estimate that between 10 to 15 people arrived with their 3/4 tour escorts to tour the area and facilities. It is not such a big area so a group this size was very invasive in my opinion...people staring at what you had on your plates....we felt like something in a zoo. Take HEED MSC. On one occasion I could not get to the buffet area because the group was surrounding it looking at what was available. No issue with people wanting to see the yacht club nor for msc wanting to promote the area, BUT they really need to be a bit more selective about the time they do the tour, and a bit more considerate for the people that are using the areas. I personally was very unhappy with this aspect of the YC and it undermined the exclusivity everyone talks about.

Do they do this on other ships? Is there a time limit on when your next cruise is, could you accept the offer in 2018 and sail 2019?
