slei15 Posted January 17, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 17, 2018 I tend to drink a lot of grey goose with soda on cruises...can I order a double to have it last longer with the package, or would that be over the $ limit? Sent from my iPhone using Forums if the cost of 2 shots and soda is under the limit, you can order it and be fine. I don't think it's under the limit. That being said, if you are sitting at the bar ordering them a lot, your bartender just might do it for you anyhow :)
zdad59 Posted January 17, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Bartenders have been known to pour doubles. ^^^^ This It's one reason I over tip a little one the first day or so, at the bar I'll regularly use. Especially with my Dinner Bar attendant. I like a nice double bourbon with dinner and then a walkaway double Baileys. I've never not gotten one. Worked out really well last cruise as our dinner bar attendant was also the daytime walking around server in the solarium. I actually never had to order there. If she saw me without a drink, one got slipped into my hand. She was good, and was taken care of nicely at the end of the cruise. Friendly and superior service. (Long response to a short question. Sorry)

Sent from my iPhone using Forums We've asked the servers to pour more than the normal wine pour (fill up the glass) per glass using the BP to take back to our cabin. No problem. Rare vacationlover_mn Posted January 17, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 17, 2018 Bartenders have been known to pour doubles. I’ll have to let my DH know :). It would be a nice time saver for him to be able to get a double bourbon on the rocks! It’ll cut our trips to the barn in half :) Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Rare Cruisegirl6 Posted January 17, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 17, 2018 My daughter and her boyfriend only drink shots, and every time their glasses are not a pee specimen it always looks like a double for sure.

dadofjessie Posted January 18, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 18, 2018 My experience has been that the bartenders will tell you at the beginning of the cruise that they can only pour singles but as the week goes buy, if they remember you they will pour doubles or even triples! For DW who likes a double shot of Baileys in her cappuccino, they have often said no to her, so she orders a single shot of Baileys in her cappuccino and I order a single shot neat. I then pour mine into her glass. Case closed.
Wine-O Posted January 18, 2018 #15 Share Posted January 18, 2018 No problem with them pouring doubles on Freedom TA this past October. Once you get to know your bartender, he will take care of you.
George C Posted January 18, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 18, 2018 I asked for two drinks and told them just to put them in same glass and gave him two cards, was told I could order a double with just one card and for rest of the cruise ordered doubles , this was 6 weeks on navigator
Bkchero Posted January 18, 2018 #17 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Another vote for a little extra cash early and then here and there after. It might not get you true doubles but it definitely gets generous pours.

JMG Posted January 18, 2018 #19 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Totally agree....a little cash tip gets you noticed. You get better service all around. It is that ol saying...Money talks! A friend went to Casino seeking change to get some extra $1..they suggested he ask one of the bar tenders.
danzig1989 Posted January 18, 2018 #20 Share Posted January 18, 2018 As we discussed in the other thread, cash tips help. As we learned on the last night of our recent cruise, unfortunately, unless you tip them with cash, that specific bartender will not receive it. And just to piggyback on the stories, our favorite bartender on Liberty actually brought us champagne flutes filled with Patron, while we were waiting for the show to start. When I first saw him walking towards us I thought he misunderstood our drink order...and then I saw the limes on the edge of the flutes.[emoji41] Sent from my iPad using Forums
dwayneb236 Posted January 18, 2018 #21 Share Posted January 18, 2018 Sit there long enough. Interact with them as people, and you'll be surprised at the drinks they start serving you, without even asking. Oh, and cash tips don't hurt at all. I bring at least 50 in singles and another 50 in fives , also some of drinks are above limit so then I just add something to check
cstimmons Posted January 19, 2018 #23 Share Posted January 19, 2018 Keep in mind that if you tip on the receipt that gets shared amongst the rest of the beverage staff. I tend to spread $100 cash amongst my favorite bartenders through out the Sent from my SM-G950U using Tapatalk
SRF Posted January 19, 2018 #24 Share Posted January 19, 2018 On Grandeur in August, cash tips at the bar went into a common bucket. I am not sure if they are shared at just that bar or further. But they do appreciate it. As has been said, smile, chat, be nice, and they are nice back. You cannot order two drinks on one card at the same time. But they swipe your card twice with a few minutes time delay. Be nice, and it will work out.
