Wrist Band vs Sea Pass Card

watching some videos I see people with the sea pass cards to pay and some use a wristband. Do you get both?

If you are sailing on Harmony, unless you are in a suite, the wrist band will cost $4.

OK thanks for info.

If you still need your card for what seems like most of the stuff I'm guessing its not that important or useful to buy

As Biker indicated, the only thing that comes to mind where you cannot use the wristband is getting off and on the ship. I cannot think of any other, unless there are some casino machines that still need the card to accumulate player points.

How does one use the band with the slots, or doesn't it work in the casino? Thanks.

There is an area on the machine where you just tap the wristband. Very cool. No chance of forgetting your seapass card.

We will be on the Allure next & hoping they get the wristbands.

Unfortunately, no WOW Bands on Allure. They are available on the Quantum class ships and Harmony of the Seas, and most likely future ships like the Symphony of the Seas.

We might see them on other ships but it might be a pretty large task to switch out all the infrastructure needed to make the RFID technology possible.

I know they are a bit of a gimmick, but I plan on getting some on our next cruise. They are only $5 and are reusable on other cruises that offer them. Plus I plan to take advantage of them while in the gym and at the pool when I may have the Sea Pass in another bag or something. Now I can leave the Sea Pass in the state room during gym and pool time.

On Harmony we found them to be great for opening the door to our stateroom but we used our sea pass cards to buy drinks rather than taking our band off to give the waiter everytime because they can't bring the reader out to you. Hoping they will improve that technology, and maybe they have in the last 6 months.

How do you is them at bars? Is there a reader or do we need to take them off?

Usually the reader was at their register which was not within reach so you would have to take your band off. Not a big deal I guess, we just always had our card with us too and found it easier to give the card to them.

If the bar server has a reader, you don't need to take them off. However, sometimes they don't have a reader, and then you either take them off or use your SeaPass card.

Also, there is no identification on the band so in the lounges when we ordered at a table I didn't trust that the band wouldn't get mixed up with someone else's. We were given different colors so we personally could identify our bands among the family but I highly recommend writing your name on it in case there is a mix up.

I prefer to just use the SeaPass card. I pop it into my phone case, can open the door without removing it. I always have my phone so it's easier that way. I would find a wristband annoying and just another item to have with you.

Hi, I just got off Anthem today and we did get the bands. For $5, it was well worth it. We had no problems at all with them. At most bars including the Bionic Bar, it was a simple tap. I always ordered from the bar counter itself, not a server, so there was always a reader there and it is on a cord, so they just pick up the reader and scan your wrist. Works in all stores, checking out pool towels and for any reservations you have too. I did not go in the casino, so can’t comment there. It was especially great for our kids...no need to worry about losing the card and they are waterproof. As mentioned, still need sea pass card to get off/on the ship, but you need ID too, so have to carry somethingelse anyways. Getting off/on was only time I carried/used my card. It was easy to open the cabin door as well. I have read some have difficulty with the doors, but for us they worked perfectly.

It just sounds like fun to me. Another reason why I'm just gonna pick up a pair for us. I want to have fun on the cruise and the WOW bands just adds to the experience, just like the Magic Bands at WDW. No real need to have them, but they just add to the fun and make things a bit easier in some cases. I also like the idea of opening the room door with my wrist if my hands are full.

I had the same problem. I thought the wristbands were great but it was easy to mix them up. I wasn't smart enough to think of putting names on ours.

Main benefit for me is that they scan your wristband when going to the shows. I found this easier than showing your card.

On our Harmony cruise we purchased some bands. Extremely convenient for us.  We really did like them. Never worried about forgetting the card in the room. Also, wasn't a big deal to take them off and hand to the bar tender if needed. I know some people hate them but I don't really care about that. We liked them and that's what matters to us. Also they aren't quite as hideous as people make them out to be. Again, our opinions. Worth the 5 bucks.

We had them on our Quantum cruise in Dec 2014 and they didn't work so well, but DD tried it again for Harmony 2017 and really liked having the Wow band.

We're going to bring it on Anthem in a few weeks, but I've heard conflicting reports about whether we'll be able to trade it in for a new one so I'm prepared to spend another $5 for hers if needed.

I'm fine with the old school seapass for me.

I'd be surprised if you trade it in, pretty sure it just gets reprogrammed.
