TravelinGert Posted February 10, 2018 #1 Share Posted February 10, 2018 First a bit about us. Our first cruise was the surprisingle infamous Royal Caribbean Quantum of the Seas maiden transatlantic and somehow we have gone on to cruise 3 more times. 2 on Royal and once on a much smaller local ship. We love new friends and new experiences. We enjoy hearing accents, other languages, and trying out other cultural experiences. As many have reported the embarkation process is thrillingly smooth and fast. Only other time we have experienced a similarly speedy and seamless experience was boarding the Adventure in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Although there were lines laid out for crowds at security when we arrived at 11:45 AM we simply walked through and there was barely a slow down. We proceeded straight to check in where numerous staff waited eagerly. A minute later literally we were sent upstairs, cruise cards and boarding number in hand. Had we not decided to stop for juice we could have headed straight to the ship, but decided to stop to allow the 15 or so people in a large family group ahead of us to sort it out at the escalatetor. Less than 20 minutes after our Taxi pulled up out front we were in the casino setting up our cruise cards with our credit card. No pin was required or requested so perhaps that is only certain cards? Off to our roll call meet up so more later.

calgaryhhr Posted February 10, 2018 #7 Share Posted February 10, 2018 We must have boarded the ship right around the same time as you. I think we arrived around 11:30 from MIA and were on board in 15 or so minutes. There was a small line up at security of about 40 people but we used the priority/black card lane on the far left which had no line. There was no line at check in, the photo or escelator and bridge. It was so painless. I wish ever cruise was like that. I guess I missed the roll call as I wasn't paying attention to the thread. We are off to dinner soon. I don't have onboard WIFI so I'll check in at ports where I find a hotspot.
calgaryhhr Posted February 11, 2018 #8 Share Posted February 11, 2018 I'm going to piggyback on Gert's thread for now and will write up a final review when we return. Dinner service must be greatly improving now because we were in and out for three courses tonight in under 1.5 hours for four of us. Portion sizes for me were just right. Not too big that I couldn't finish but not too small that I was wanting more.

js Posted February 11, 2018 #13 Share Posted February 11, 2018 Enjoy!!! Thanks for taking us along! If you go to the gym can you please take a picture if the paid and fee classes and times. Can you please let me know how many rowers are in the gym and if there are showers with large changing areas. Thinking may take my shower down there (we have spa access) if my shower is being used. Thanks and enjoy! Two more weeks for me. Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Thanks and enjoy! Two more weeks for me. The gym and spa have separate locker rooms. With a spa pass both would be available to you. Everyone onboard has access to the gym locker with its own sauna. The showers do not have attached individual changing space. There is a common changing area that is poorly laid out to be honest. While I only used the gym once, the thermal suite I visited nearly every day and always showered down there afterwards. Also, there is no punch code but rather you use your sail card or wristband to lock/unlock a locker. Pretty cool when it worked.

TravelinGert Posted February 17, 2018 Author #20 Share Posted February 17, 2018 General impression and enjoyment of the cruise was excellent. Ship beautiful, cabin comfortable, beds excellent, food hot, fresh, well-prepared and presented with far more choice than expected. Would definitely cruise Seaside again. TravelinGert Posted February 17, 2018 Author #22 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Now on to juicy details. Thanks to the excellent boarding process we were able to squeeze in touring the majority of the ship, drinks, gelato, and a visit to Venchi's chocolate counter for espresso with praline trio prior to meeting up with old friends and gathering with our roll call. We had no trouble receiving all the expected benefits of our drink plan. It looked like all staff had to do was ring up our purchase and swiping our card automatically reduced the charge to zero. A wonderful unexpected bonus we received was our desired first choice dining time. Our waiters were Ronny from Honduras and Joshua. They really made an effort to make our dinner delightful in every way possible.

TravelinGert Posted February 17, 2018 Author #25 Share Posted February 17, 2018 Did your bags arrive in time to change for dinner? An announcement notified us rooms were ready appoximately 2:30. Our bags along with everyone else in our section of hallway were waiting against the doors.
