change of internet benefit for diamond and diamond plus

Recommended Posts

We have never used our D or now D+ free internet,or the free casino voucher in fact we only use the free photo and drinks in DL so we are hardly Freeloaders.

With all due respect, but you think that not using your limited "free" internet time is different than sitting in the lounge nightly and taking advantage of "free" drinks or a "free" photo??!!

Damn it! I was looking forward to becoming Diamond after my next cruise, but now it is not as appealing to cruise with Royal anymore. They used to offer surf only internet for a reasonable price, but they took that away and only allow you to buy surf and stream packages at higher prices. Now to remove a perk for Diamond and Diamond+ is just ridiculous. I think I will do more Princess cruises with the generous free internet I get from them in the future.

What do you normally do now for Internet?

Just left my displeasure with the removal on Royal's Facebook page. There are a few others already. I found that Royal doesn't like a lot of bad comments on their facebook page.

As stated by someone earlier......if we all do it they may change it back.

I read your Facebook post. It does cost Royal something. It cost bandwidth. Many paying customers of onboard Internet are complaining about the speed or lack of it. Getting booted off. Weak signals and so on. Maybe if they can eliminate the free use, they could provide a more stable platform.

Before when they removed the D+ discount on sailings less than six months, it took a massive write in to corporate to get that reversed.

Maybe this is nothing more than an April’s Fool joke.

Royal doesn’t normally announce their testing. They shocked Harmony with buy one package, all in cabin must have one. Johnny Rockets price increase showed up on Oasis first. Speciality Dinning and gratuity no longer included in price.

They did announce NRD.

Since they claim no changes and they will let us know if they "make any enhancement" I asked if we will have the benefit on our cruise next week.

I suppose they will spin it as an enhancement to those that pay because they will get better speeds.

I have read Royals responses to inquiries on their Facebook site.

Technically, there are no changes to your perks. Here’s the catch, if you buy the package you will get your free day or two based on your new discount.

So to get your free day or two requires purchase of the package. P’s are not effected at this time as they get internet free everyday.

I have never accused anyone of being a “Freeloader”, your word not mine.

I sure wouldn’t let lack of internet or a “perk” get in the way of my cruise. If it’s a perk I had and lost, and it’s something that I enjoyed, I would find another way to obtain even if that means a monetary investment or another cruise line or another form of vacation.

We are very happy with our holidays.A few free drinks per night in the DL is welcome but i tip very well in fact $200 cash during a 7 night cruise on top of prepaying gratuitys when we book our cruise.

We have been invited to a Royal garden party and to open a UK internationally recognised TA so in reality we are laid back and enjoy ourselves.

On average 1 hour per night in the DL.

On a 7 night cruise on top of prepaying our tips i hand out $200 in cash, over half of it in the DL to the waiters so i hope they are happy with us.

Technically, Royals responses are correct. You will continue to get your 1 or 2 day Free internet based on the discount you receive on buying the package.

So, in order to use your free days, you must book the package.

Expect Royal to tighten up on the 1 device thing too.

The question I asked disappeared from Royal's Facebook page ......
