change of internet benefit for diamond and diamond plus

Recommended Posts

I guess you can blame the loss of internet on me.

We turn diamond when getting off the ship April 16 and hubby was looking forward to the free internet in September.

This is the kind of luck I have. Perks going away just before I am eligible for them.

:loudcry::loudcry:

Nana, i feel your pain. i am at 79 days right now. I board Allure Easter Sunday, that will be my 80th day. i have to wait until my next cruise to get what little bennies Diamond affords. This sucks IMHO, RCCL already has my money for this cruise, plus i did a 7 day on X, the sister company. Seems to me that a concession could be made for someone in my circumstance. 6/7 of my cruise i will have satisfied the Diamond criteria. But, it's my ball and those are my rules. Tough sh** for you, says RCCL.:mad:

It’s always been this way. It takes a few weeks to award you the points online. Everyone knows this going in. Celebrity nights do not count for Royal nor do Royal count for Celebrity. You get status when you sail the other cruise line.

If you were doing a B2B, the LA should be able to insure you receive Diamond on the second leg.

Enjoy Diamond on your next Royal cruise.

There will soon be less and less reasons to stay loyal to Royal and X. One of the advantages of getting to D and D+ are the extra perks. If they take more of these away, it would seem to be more of an incentive to branch out and try other lines.

Precruise sales always have % discounts. If we wait to apply our D+ benefit on board to the internet package, the prices are about the same. So no benefit to us to prepurchase. Often We use our free days then purchase the rest of the cruise.

I don’t see how Royal will make any more money off loyalty cruisers like us.

This just makes us mad.

I agree, Rick. I use very few of the “benefits” but the internet was one that I used. Very unhappy with this change. Will be looking at other options. Just got off a ship and the MDR food was terrible. So, bad food and lessening of loyalty benefits might just have us looking at other lines.

Maybe its my fault. In 4 cruises since turning Diamond I have used the free day on the last day only. We normally don't use it at all. I guess maybe they hope it would get you hooked so you had to have it every time. On Oasis I did "upgrade" to the surf and stream for just a couple of dollars for that one day.

I think if you do the math, in your case no change. The discount off the package works out about the same as what you have been doing.

I think what Royal is saying, they offer you the discount on a total package. They don’t look at this as a takeaway but giving you a discount on the total package. Again, tightening up on current procedures. I can see them saying in a board meeting, who goes on a 7 night cruise and only wants Internet 1 or 2 days.

Online discounts are based on onboard pricing.

People need someone from time to time to bring them back to reality.

We have never used our D or now D+ free internet,or the free casino voucher in fact we only use the free photo and drinks in DL so we are hardly Freeloaders.

Damn it! I was looking forward to becoming Diamond after my next cruise, but now it is not as appealing to cruise with Royal anymore. They used to offer surf only internet for a reasonable price, but they took that away and only allow you to buy surf and stream packages at higher prices. Now to remove a perk for Diamond and Diamond+ is just ridiculous. I think I will do more Princess cruises with the generous free internet I get from them in the future.

When did they take away surf only packages? We were able to get it in January and February.

This seems to be the way everything is going....

.... there used to be Select beer and wine package, they took that away and now you can only buy the expensive Ultimate package

I have never accused anyone of being a “Freeloader”, your word not mine.

I sure wouldn’t let lack of internet or a “perk” get in the way of my cruise. If it’s a perk I had and lost, and it’s something that I enjoyed, I would find another way to obtain even if that means a monetary investment or another cruise line or another form of vacation.

We have always used the free internet days RCCL has given us. To have this taken away is a huge disappointment! When you are accustomed to a benefit, it's hard to accept when it's taken away. We all strive to get to the next tier level, to finally be able to enjoy new benefits.....a reward for being loyal. Now, they are all disappearing.....soon to be nonexistent.

We just status matched from Celebrity to Diamond.

Haven't been on Royal for a few years, but we spoke to many on Celebrity telling us to status match and how good Royal was with their Diamond benefits.

I am disappointed about this. We don't cruise till October, I wonder what else we'll lose.
