change of internet benefit for diamond and diamond plus

Recommended Posts

I personally hope it remains as it once was. I could care less about wifi on the ship, we generally find a spot in port that offers wifi. Its a nice perk for Suites on Oasis Class as it is included.

A couple, who are Diamond, essentially got two days of wifi if they shared. D+ four days.

I thought it was odd that Royal dropped the two packages down to one. Some people really don't need stream but hopefully it will be better.

I wouldn't buy the internet package if that is what is required. Just not needed.

May one just used the computer in the SL/DL/CL to checkin for a flight?

You may use them. But you must pay for the usage.

Royal Caribbean International This hasn't been finalized. If we make the decision to change the benefits, we'll provide our guests with this info directly.

John Royal Caribbean International Does that mean I can expect to still get the internet benefit on the Mariner Odyssey next week?

I received a well worded reply. As of today I can expect to get the benefit. Tomorrow could be a different a story.

Yes - But - I pay for it either way. I still have to pay it and I own the business.

So you don't pay for internet in your business? It's FREE?

Paying for it on the ship means they will have to pay for it TWICE, at home and on the ship.

cruisegirl1 - I feel your pain. Some people just don't get how it works. I ran my own business for a lot of years. My friends would say "Just buy a new truck, you can write off" or "Sponsor our softball team, you can claim the advertising as a business expense". Some people think that if you claim something as a business expense, you don't have to pay for it. That's not how it works.

I must be doing something wrong. I go to their website, but I don't see any posts from cruisers being upset about the free internet days being taken away. Are they removing them right after they are posted?

You have to go to the community section. On the main page you only see things WCL posts to their own timeline and any comments made on those posts.

Exactly.

Some or just 1 on here doesn't understand that

Of course I pay for internet for my business and also at my home.

For the past number of years, I was provided an amount of FREE internet as part of my cruise benefit Free.... not a discount applied or any required purchase.

Now, in order for me to use the benefit, I have to buy something. Most of the benefits are already like that. There is a % discount for a spa purchase, Some sort of bingo benefit if I purchase some amount of cards?, a specialty coffee if I purchase a meal in a specialty restaurant, % off if I spend some required amount in the logo shop, a BOGO milk shake, BOGO meal in specialty restaurant, BOGO glass of wine, some amount off if I spend some required amount for dry cleaning, etc. The think the only free items that are left are a free photo, 3 free evening drinks, lounge access, bag of wash and fold and perhaps a few others I don't recall of the top of my head.

The point is, I used the day or two of free internet on every cruise. And the free days were great especially for a 7 night port intensive cruise. Some cruises I needed to purchase one day.

I can't answer for anyone but me, but we will be forced to buy a cruise long package, when before we only needed a day or two. I guess that is the reason RCCL made the change. And, the benefit is now ZERO for my spouse.

One cruise line gives and one takes away

Silversea became the latest upscale line to extend free, unlimited Wi-Fi to passengers booking any category accommodation, on all ships, including those in its expedition fleet—though not everybody is entitled to high-speed Internet. This starts with voyages sailing in April.

Since January 2016, Silversea travelers have received at least one hour of free Wi-Fi per day. The new policy will provide each person booked in standard suites with free, unlimited standard Internet access. Those in larger suites (from Silver suites to the Owner's suites) will get free, unlimited premium Internet access for up to two devices simultaneously per passenger

Make sure your concierge is aware of the downgrade displeasure.

Very good idea and write your displeasure on the post cruise survey.

Well it looks like it is time to flood the social media page and emails with all of the D and Dplus expressing our displeasure with the situation. As I recall (which may be incorrect), at one point they took away the Balcony discounts for sailings less then 6 months. After many people voiced their displeasure regarding this loyalty perk, then the backed off of the new policy.

I agree. First we need to call and complain and then get it out on social media anytime you can! They are steering me to another cruise line. Unfortunately I am booked on 4 Royal and 2 celebrity this year. May just have to. I’ve on after that

Everyone needs to call Royal and voice their displeasure about this. If they get enough negative response they may change their mind.

Just left my displeasure with the removal on Royal's Facebook page. There are a few others already. I found that Royal doesn't like a lot of bad comments on their facebook page.

https://www.facebook.com/royalcaribbean/

As stated by someone earlier......if we Yall do it they may change it back.

Before when they removed the D+ discount on sailings less than six months, it took a massive write in to corporate to get that reversed.

TIME FOR A PREEMPTIVE STRIKE! Write! Post! Call!

I’m not happy about this and I’m letting Royal know. If this is a perk you don’t want to lose, let them know now! Maybe we can get them to change their minds before they officially announce it. It worked in the past.

It’s very difficult to compare SilverSea to Royal. They are not even in the same class. SilverSea Cruises are very high priced.

I am sure this makes the Diamonds and D+ happy that buy the package. I’ve only seen two people brave enough to post that this is to their benefit. Now they get a discount on their packages based on their status.

Royal gives an onboard discount for drink packages as well but it never seems to trump the price online pre cruise.

Look at it this way....

Don’t you think there is a lot of Diamonds paying for the package and complaining to Royal they were not getting their free days? Those Diamonds are likely to be staying in more expensive cabins as well and spending money in Speciality Restaurants, Drink Packages, Excursions, Casino....

Just a fact jack.
