Tendering at Cayman

What’s the procedure to get ashore at Georgetown when you are not on a Celebrity excursion? Do Elite Captain’s Club members get any priority?

Yes they do as many, many others. You should receive tender tickets in your cabin the night before you tender. In GC they use a private company that has much larger tenders than those on the ship so in usually moves rather quickly. Due to weather and currents on several stops in GC we were forced to use an area that required us to take a bus/van that left us off behind Kirks. It was a free service. Other lines did charge for the transportation.

A year ago there were no tender tickets at this port . As elite we were instructed to meet the cc host at a designated location when we were ready to leave the ship and she escorted us to the tender and the front of the line

We were on the Reflection

I've experienced both tickets left in cabin and a designated meeting point like the Tuscan Grille. Largely depends on the cruise, but the OP will receive directions.

This was our experience on our March 2018 Equinox cruise.

Just be prepared that this is a port that is sometimes skipped - not commonly necessarily, but neither is it rare. Fortunately we have only had that happen once in about 8 stops there.

We also have sometimes gotten tickets in our cabin, but more recently are just told to meet the CC host/hostess in a certain area and he/she walks you to the tenders.

Our experience has been about 50% of the time the port has been canceled. We normally sail in the Caribbean and if possible avoid the western cruises becasue of the ports. Grand Cayman has always been iffy. There were times that the Captain just decided to not even bother going there because of the port conditions. There were also times where we anchored and then pulled up and sailed away due to high winds. Another time the winds and waves picked up later in the day and the people comming back had a very rough tIme getting off the tender onto the ship. One female got her leg caught between the tender and ship resulting in a broken leg.

If it is one of our ports we just stay on board because we been there a few times and there is nothing of interest for us but other may like the diving and snorkeling so it is worth it for them .

Happy crusing 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅
