Megtheblackbelt Posted July 12, 2018 Author #26 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Interesting thoughts. Thank you everyone for the comments! We’re (my husband and myself) sailing Allure this year, and are trying to decide on what to do next year. Symphony sounds... alluring. ;) Sent from my iPhone using Forums
ObstructedView2 Posted July 12, 2018 #27 Share Posted July 12, 2018 to sail on Symphony, as opposed to Allure? Same exact stateroom (OV balcony), same dates, similar ports. Would you personally do it? Personally I would need to know what the similar ports are prior to a yes or no decision. I assume the similar ports are not identical? Can you list both itineraries & length of voyages. :)
Megtheblackbelt Posted July 12, 2018 Author #28 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Oh, and the dates are one day off as someone else mentioned. However, this does not matter to us so it was not a point of contention for me to bring up. The ports in question are: Allure: St. Kitts > St. Thomas > Nassau Symphony: St. Kitts > St. Thomas > CocoCay We have no preference between Nassau or CocoCay, so we’re fine with either itinerary. Merion_Mom Posted July 12, 2018 #30 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I know people who only book Royal Caribbean ships that have a flowrider, then they spend 75% of the cruise on the flowrider. If you are insanely addicted to slides, wet and dry, then choose Symphony. If slides are "meh" for you, save the $500, and as stated previously, wait until Symphony ISN'T $500 more. CruisingNole Posted July 12, 2018 #32 Share Posted July 12, 2018 We have no preference between Nassau or CocoCay, so we’re fine with either itinerary. Personally, avoiding Nassau would tip the scale to Symphony for me. IMO that is the worst stop in the Caribbean. Just an extra sea day. So if you stay on the boat in Nassau, all you're seeing over the course of 7 days is St. Thomas and St. Kitts. That's a week lineup, IMO. Not trying to build CocoCay up to some amazing place but vs Nassau, I'd take a beach day at CocoCay in a heartbeat. Different strokes. :)
PhoenixCruiser Posted July 12, 2018 #33 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Yes, we already have Symphony booked.
Megtheblackbelt Posted July 12, 2018 Author #34 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Thanks for your thoughts, everyone! Looks like Symphony's going to take a "W" for this one, and our wallets an "L". Slides and laser tag and escape rooms and Cococay, oh myyyy.
Rare crusinthrough Posted July 12, 2018 #35 Share Posted July 12, 2018 Add me to the no list. I would sail whichever Oasis class ship had the best pricing. The itinerary for all are blah and the ships are similar so it comes down to price for me.
Sorcerer Tim Posted July 12, 2018 #36 Share Posted July 12, 2018 I would do it if the only additional cost was $500.
Rare BillOh Posted July 12, 2018 #37 Share Posted July 12, 2018 to sail on Symphony, as opposed to Allure? Same exact stateroom (OV balcony), same dates, similar ports. Would you personally do it? I probably wouldn't either, but how important are the water slides to you. I am assuming Symphony is out of Miami. I had heard Allure was headed to Miami too, I don't know if that has changed, has it? Have you seen either/both Hairspray or Mama Mia? On 2nd thought, we always cruise around this time of year, one of my cruising friends wanted to try this class of ship and he picked the ship, for all I know I did pay the $500! katiel53 Posted July 17, 2018 #39 Share Posted July 17, 2018 No and I wouldn't pay $100 less to sail on Oasis. I am sailing on Harmony though in January and it is costing me less than going on Allure in June. I love Allure as does my family, but I wanted to try something different so will be trying Harmony. Rare vacationlover_mn Posted July 17, 2018 #41 Share Posted July 17, 2018 I would, only because I want to try ships that I haven’t been on before, and I’ve already done Allure. Note, we loved it :). Sent from my iPhone using Forums
DonTreadOnMe Posted July 18, 2018 #42 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Having not sailed Allure...I would prob not. That said Symphony is a beautiful ship. The food (same menu we had on Liberty this year) was by far the best we have had on a RCCL cruise since 2003.
Rare John&LaLa Posted July 18, 2018 #43 Share Posted July 18, 2018 I didn't like Allure. Go with Symphony Sent from my SM-G965U using Tapatalk
Rare mac_tlc Posted July 18, 2018 #44 Share Posted July 18, 2018 If I had been on Allure before, I would spend the extra. In fact, I have -- and I am. The shows are different too which adds to the variety. mac_tlc
#55worktoplay Posted July 18, 2018 #45 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Yes I would. The only new ship I missed inaugural was allure. Going on Symphony in Nov.
