Alaska Live, July 17th - 27th. Just the tip of the iceberg.

Recommended Posts

We stopped Talkeetna for lunch and I did a couple of periscopes from there. I snapped a few more photos and thought I’d share them.

The small town of 800 people had a rustic and hippie flavour. I didn’t smell any Patchouli but I did get the occasional wafting smell of marijuana in the air. They say it is a small town of unique individuals, and I’d say I found one in this guy.

This store might not help him, or maybe it does?

I looked, but I could not find Patrick Swayze.

Pucker up big boy.

The hippie guy in the back of the pick up I recognize from the Railroad Alaska tv show. He's quite the character. I love Talkeetna- we were there on a Sunday when there is a small farmer's type of market with lots of local artists selling their work. Got a puffin carving.

We also had homemade ice cream.

I had spruce tip ice cream. It was made with new growth spruce shoots from in the spring. The light green needles are indeed needles.

I had to ask the obvious question about the Candied Salmon, and yes it had salmon. I had a sample spoon and it was interestingly strange. Creamy salmon would be the description.

You and your family had a busy day today! Between crazy temperatures, intrusive raisins, boxer shorts on the balcony, puppy smuggling, a beautiful video of the glacier, and a few other things I know I'm forgetting to mention, I hardly know where to begin. I'll stick to saying that I enjoyed my virtual day in Alaska with you. Thanks once again for sharing!

That guy looked very interesting. I watch that show but not religiously so I will have to watch for him.

Love your reviews, can't wait to sail with you in Oct :)

Andrew will have spaghetti

Yes to October and no to spaghetti.

Love the video! Brings back such wonderful memories! [emoji846]

I’m glad to help with those past reflections.

I love everything in this photo. All this photo needs is Kate Upton and it’s the greatest photo of all-time.

I might improve it, a bit. Now if she holding a melted butter boat I’d agree 100%.

See? I told you the crab cakes were little.

I’d call them taste bombs. We did eat dinner an hour later.

We are booked on Radiance and land tour next June. I am following along and learning new tricks.

Glad to help. :)

Hey Andrew!

So, last week was pretty busy, but I have now managed to catch up! Loving your review and photos and sounds as if all four of you are enjoying Radiance as well :) Have you guys managed to catch any of the entertainment onboard?

Have a great day in Skagway tomorrow!

Skagway will be awesome. As for the entertainment, I think I have done my best in entertaining the family. A one man show. I haven’t gotten a golden ticket yet but I’m hopeful.

Dinner.

Started with the Cesar Salad. Followed with the chicken cordon blue, and then the ice cream. Points to those that were correct.

I was given a bowl of caramel sauce. I had to drink it all as our waiter went a deck lower to find it.

I forgot to mention the extra mushroom risotto.

After supper we had the inaugural and final Radiance Class golf tournament. Hole in ones were noted by Sharon and myself. She’s buying tonight.

And yes that is Explorer in the back ground.

Then Owen mastered the rock climbing wall in his dinner clothing. The rang the bell on all three paths.

We are now just waiting for pier runners on the balcony. Let the races begin. We are down to the final four minutes.

And you get...

MMM, image does work but I bet you get the idea.

We went into a fur store. The ladies wanted to rub some pelts. I found the beaver and fox to be soft.

We went panning for gold this afternoon.

We are rich. We all got about the same.

Found this a couple of hours ago, and had to read it all before I could chime in.

Our third cruise was to Alaska on Princess in 2006. We did a 4-day southbound land tour from Fairbanks to Whittier. Other being able to see Denali for 3 days, we just remember how tired we were. Our carryon bags had to be outside the room before 5 every morning. We ended up sleeping in our clothes. Did laundry our first day on the ship (Princess has pax laundries). We were so exhausted. But, you know what, still one of our most favorite cruises. I want to do it again, even if it’s just a round-trip from Seattle.

A few weeks ago, our neighborhood had a youngish black bear wandering around. I had just let out our two Scotties, heard them barking, and looked out just in time to see the bear lope through our yard and jump over the back fence. I don’t think I’ve ever been so freaked out. I’ve seen more bears here now than we saw in Alaska!

We saw lots of caribou, Dall sheep and ptarmigan.

Looking forward to the rest of your cruise! Happy sailing.
