Royal Caribbean TA vs Celebrity TA?

Recommended Posts

We loved our Celebrity TA cruise, and are now considering one on Royal Caribbean because it is so much cheaper. Can anyone compare the 2? This is on Navigator of the Seas. I'd love to see a daily schedule if someone has one for the Navigator of the Seas or a Royal Caribbean sea day schedule on a transatlantic.

I have all the daily planners from Independence TA oct 2018, do you want me to take photos of a sea day for you?

Ship wise, it will be a nice change. There'll be more activities on Navigator.

Yes I have been on Constellation TA and it was not not one of my favourites, ship too small with all those sea days and not much to do, could not wait to get off in Rome

We have done several TAs on Royal and Celebrity including 2 on the Constellation. We always found the Celebrity TAs to have interesting Beyond the Podium speakers and perhaps 1 not so interesting on Royal TAs. That being said we did eastbound TAs on the Eclipse during the last 2 springs and will be doing the eastbound TA on the IOS next spring. We have enjoyed every TA we've done and wish the OP the best.

Absolutely they'll be more to do on Navigator....day & night. We just did our first cruise on X Eclipse and after many cruises with RCI we were bored to death on X and it takes "very little" to entertain us.

Have been on many crossings on both Celebrity and RCL Princess & Hal as well

I found that the Beyond the Podium lecturers on Celebrity were the best. Especially Milos in Alaska. I think he married someone He met on a ship.

Next crossing is Rhapsody Dec TA

Ontario Cruiser

We must be easily entertained. :) Give us some trivia, music trivia, karaoke, and the pool, and we're happy.

We have been on TAs on RCCL, Celebrity and Princess. One observation I have is size of the Cruise Directors activities staff. The staff on our RCCL cruises Splendor, Mariner, Serenade, Adventure and Quantum was larger than the staff on our Celebrity TA on Silhouette and our TP on the Millennium. On Celebrity there were fewer "events" (think Baggo, Ping Pong tourneys, Progressive golf putting and trivia but they seemed to be better quality "events. There were an impressive speakers and well attended afternoon matinee shows on Celebrity. On the trans pacific cruise there was a water color painting class that was a big hit. The staff was like 2 to 3 total on Celebrity. The staff was much bigger on RCCL so there were more activities but they seemed a bit rushed and disorganized. We loved the Progressive Trivia on the Quantum. We have always found enough to do on both cruise lines.

I forgot one big difference between the two cruise lines that mattered a lot to us. On Celebrity, the casino is NON SMOKING all the time. We enjoyed going to events and giveaways there almost every night after the show. We entertained ourselves with a little gambling on a slow afternoon. Usually on RCCL we do not attended any of the Casino events and avoid walking through because of the smoke.

we have done both lines and have enjoyed both, part is the size of the ship and how much space they have per passenger since you spend a lot more time on the ship than the average cruise. We are going on a Smaller (Jewel of the Seas) in March of 2019 for our 4th TA. Basically all we do is TAs we were just on NCL and it was nice but no special guest speaker which made the cruise a miss for us.
