NLH Arizona Posted October 29, 2018 #4 Share Posted October 29, 2018 On my last cruise, I got a plain crepe, went and got some ice cream, wrapped it up and then poured some chocolate sauce over it....wonderful dessert crepe!

cruiseagona Posted October 29, 2018 #8 Share Posted October 29, 2018 OMG, this is the best dessert on the ship. Sometimes the Nutella is out. If it isn't ask for it. And put some fresh real whipped cream on the top. Fabulous!

But down in the candy/sweet shop and you have to pay for them. No crepes on the buffet like the other NCL ships. I consider Bliss to be the proof of concept for adding crepes to the nickle and dime list. Assuming it was successful, I'd fully expect to see crepes move from the free category to the paid category on other ships in the future. Iworktocruiseandtravel Posted October 29, 2018 #10 Share Posted October 29, 2018 I've never had one, despite being on several NCL cruises. What exactly is it? I see it's flatter than a pancake

I see it's flatter than a pancake At the Paris Casino/Hotel in Vegas you can choose sweet or savory. The savory not to familiar with since I always go for the sweet but it might have mushrooms, cheese, ham. Kind of like what an omelet would have in it. The sweet includes one that has Nutella in it, my favorite is a berry mixture. Then they are sprinkled with powdered sugar and whipped cream added. I like to had some soft serve ice cream 😊 I'm not sure if NCL has both savory and sweet or just sweet. But they are good and very popular. Here is a berry one I had in Mexico. gmbhardy Posted October 29, 2018 #12 Share Posted October 29, 2018 I believe I read on some other thread that they are not available on the Bliss.
valleyvillage Posted October 29, 2018 #13 Share Posted October 29, 2018 They have them on the Bliss at Coco's. I went twice, they are so nice! I got a simple one and I think it was just something like $3.95. Totally worth it for me because I have mobility issues that make it a challenge to stand in lines. I also really enjoyed the ambiance! katke Posted October 31, 2018 #16 Share Posted October 31, 2018 I love them - usually get them with fresh fruit and some cinnamon - YUM! I've noticed most of the ships don't have a fresh fruit option, so I usually have to cut up my own and they toss it in.
cruiseat50 Posted October 31, 2018 #17 Share Posted October 31, 2018 DH refuses to go to the buffet but I am going to try to remember to try one or two of these. When are they available or do they have them all day? I would want one probably in afternoon or evening.

Of course the line is usually pretty long plus we do not do the buffet very often. i would probably eat at the buffet a little more often, but the old man, better known as sweety, dad or granddad isn't a lover of them plus he has some mobility problems. The longest I've spent in line is 5-6 minutes. You might have a handful of people ahead of you but you can see the making of the crepe takes about a minute. My wife makes them at home, they are called Palatschinke, anyone from Europe will know about them

But it still isn't the same as having them on the ship: don't ask me why. Yes, the actual making of cremes is very short, but while you stand in line, if you have anything else on your plate it gets cold or stale pretty quick. think next time I will get a crepe, then get whatever else I might want later. We'd squeeze oranges on them, sometimes lemon too maybe add a little sugar, roll 'em up and scarf them down 🙂 Edited November 1, 2018 by pspercy

My aunt still makes them. The crepes are piled on top of each other with a combination of raspberry jelly and ground hazelnut. When finished its about 20 layers and 3-4 inches tall. The topping is a mix of sour cream, cottage cheese, powered sugar and a little lemon, or chocolate and strawberries. Her crepes are just slightly thicker than the norm Edited November 1, 2018 by Laszlo
SoccerMom9195 Posted January 11, 2019 #25 Share Posted January 11, 2019 Is the crepe station set up at night on Getaway? Our last cruise on the Gem only offered them during the dinner hours in the buffet. We love going later in the evening to enjoy a crepe and ice cream.
