Oh yes 100% worth it. We had the option to bid on the ATS 1 bedroom starting at $100 pp or 2 bedroom starting at $400 pp or Star Loft starting at $800 pp.  we did not bid on the 1 bed ATS because there are 4 of us and we would be giving up a bathroom so didn’t make sense and didn’t bid on the Star loft seemed to expensive so just bid on the ATS 2 bedroom.

My fingers are crossed for you!  Either way you are cruising!!!  Enjoy!

We received an email on 4/10/19 with the opportunity to upgrade. Put in a "weak"ish bid for each of the upgrade possibilities. On 5/13/19 we received an email that our bid had been accepted and we have been upgraded into a Grand Suite 1 Bedroom. We are cruising to celebrate our 10th Anniversary, and my wife and I are delighted with this news!

I did not bid on an upgrade but an email about upgrading encouraged me to recheck prices and led to me upgrading to a Balcony guarantee for the first time doing GTY.

It's now driving me crazy not to know the cabin number and I'm suspecting later assignment of GTY cabins because of RoyalUp.  Under 30 days.  Deck assigned.  I'd hate to be one of those who doesn't know until arrive at the port, especially when there is are rare storie of overbookings out there.

Is it the general consensus that perhaps going forward they will offer less GTY status or they will be assigned later because of RoyalUp?

Congratulations to all the winners!

I am 72 hours away from Enchantment cruise...this was a last minute cruise and my friend and I just got an OV. Always book balcony or JS, so I am spoiled. Bid up to balcony.....no reply either way.

Bid on June 2nd cruise to upgrade from balcony to JS and GS. A patient of mine is a TA and said there is a randomness to the accepted bids. She thinks it is unlikely I will get upgraded Friday, but likely on June 2nd.   Hmmmm.

Anyone bid on either of these cruises?

Received my email to bid for upgrades 70 days before cruise date but as we had only booked the cruise shortly before, almost all room types were already sold out. I havent seen any availability on the June 27th Mediterranean sailing since so don’t hold out much hope of getting any acceptance.

Have bid max in some categories but just over min in others so will keep the fingers crossed🤞 and see.

Anyone get an acceptance of an RoyalUp upgrade on any European cruises recently??

Thanks for the kind words! I was surpried also by the snark, as it was my very first post and by and large when I lurked here people were generally very helpful.

Our sailing is on June 9, so we received the RoyalUp email about 60 days before.

We are also sailing on the ninth , we are on Allure! Just got the Royal Up email over the weekend. We are booked in a GS and were offered to bid on everything above it. Only interested in Star Class so put a weak bid in as we are happy with our location; if for some reason it is accepted i wont mind the 'free' drinks and gratuities.

Have a great cruise!

Just got my RoyalUp email for our July 14 cruise on Allure.

We’re currently in a Crown Loft.  Put in a minimum bid on a Star Loft, $800pp, and more than minimum on a 2 BR AQS, $650pp.

We’d be fine where we are, but getting a Star Class Suite would be amazing!

We are on the Symphony in July and just got the email about qualifying for Royal Up?? I’ve never seen this before. Right now we have 2 oceanview balcony rooms. If we upgrade, can my husband and son join us in a larger cabin? Do we only pay for the 2 passengers in the reservation?

Thanks!

Not without a cancellation penalty.

I cant copy and paste for some reason, but if you log into your RCCL account and go to FAQ you will see a topic called "Royal Up" in the last column, click on this and a few paragraphs down you will have the complete answer to your question.

They will not let you cancel the second cabin without penalty .

I am sailing on Majesty of the seas, May 22 royal up offer to a balcony would have been 800 for two of us! are they nuts? This is a five day cruise .800.00 will pay for what we spend at the hotel ,dinners for two nights ubers and a few beers on the ship Think I will keep my cabin with the window 🙂

MJ doesn’t have any “balcony category” cabins. Only cabins with balconies are Suites.

I am sailing out of Copenhagen on June 9 for an 11 night cruise to Norway.    We booked an inside cabin.   I made a "strong" bid on a balcony (Minimum was $225.  I bid $375).   The ship looks sold out now.   It looked strange to me because a week ago, there were over 25 balconies available and it sold out overnight.   I assume that was a large group.

I'm not holding out much hope for the upgrade and I'm actually very happy with an inside cabin because we only use it to sleep and shower.    The Diamond Lounge is next to the Viking Crown Room and I enjoy sitting there during at sea days so have never had a strong need for a balcony, but it would be nice if I get upgraded at a good price.

We just returned last week from our first RCCL cruise (on Anthem) and had a great cruise!!! We were booked in a regular balcony room. I wasn't familiar with Royal and the whole Royal-up process, but when i got the e-mail a couple of months before our cruise i decided to try it. I bid minimal on the larger balcony, Junior Suite and Grand Suite categories. I didn't hear anything until the DAY BEFORE we cruised, with an e-mail telling me we had won the bid on the Grand Suite! We were so excited, and it was definitely worth the money we spent for it. Our cruise had been sold out for weeks, so i'm assuming this was due to last-minute cancellations. So, i guess you never know until you're boarding....!!!!

Try to ignore the snark post/replies.  Unfortunately those are becoming more and more common.

Congrats on your anniversary and your RoyalUp!!!

Interestingly we are 30 days out from our Cuba cruise.  We have 2 rooms booked.  My husband and I bid on a JS (they were all booked when we decided to book) at 650 a person.  Our son has his own room - also an OV and we did not put a bid in for him when we got the emails on Royal Up about 3 months outand he has received FOUR emails on RoyalUp (JS and Owner Suite are his options).

What is interesting is that the ship is sold out except 25ish Inside rooms.  I don't think we have much of a shot since it is all booked but I find it a bit humorous at how diligent they are to get him to bid.  I think it really is more to see what people would pay
