Once you win a bid are you immediately assigned a cabin (I'm looking at crown loft suites)? I see there are 6 open lofts on the website. I would prefer one not over the ball court. So once you're assigned a cabin can you request to be moved to another if it's open? Has anyone done this?

How do you know your over ball court?  What ship are you on?  I think that’s what my cabin might be over. I’m on Allure Suite 1744. I see the court on deck 15. Is that what your talking about?  Is it bad?  I just researched and I’m in an L1. Which is the ball court L1 or L2?

I'm booking on the Harmony. Crown lofts either look out to the water or aft onto the ship deck. You'll need to look at a deck plan to see what your room overlooks. I don't know what room I'll be given, but I am wondering if I get a non desirable room, if I can switch to another open one in the same category.

Ok gotcha. My cabin is 1744 starboard (L1) looks like the L2s are overlooking ball court. Hope someone has an answer for you

The L2’s are in the back typically and the L1s are on the sides

Yes, and the L1s are usually more expensive than the L2s. So yes, I would be concerned about bidding if you wanted a water view L1 versus an  L2.

Well an L1 and an L2 aren't the same category. Whether they let you switch would probably be based on the going rate for the two rooms. If the one you want is more expensive, then you'd probably have to pay the difference.

Policy says no but some have reported being able to.

Its fairly simple on a phone, haven't been on laptop in a while.

I BID on the Royal up for our recent Caribbean cruise we took April 14th.  2 weeks prior to sailing I received the email from Royal Up that said congratulations your stateroom has been upgraded.  We were upgraded to an owner's suite.  The minimal bid was $700,  I bid 800 pp! The suite was amazing, so worth it! The suites were all showing as sold out  even up to getting my royal up!

Hmmmm so we put our bid in to upgrade and although on the RC website it is sold out I found the specific cabin we bid on open and available on another cruise site.  I wonder if RC alots other “sellers” certain cabins and they get released at the end and that’s why we bid on them

They way I understand it, travel agencies can hold group space, but I do not believe they hold specific staterooms, just an allocation.

My husband and I are officially one week away from our cruise on May 13th, so I've started seriously watching and waiting to see if my Royal UP bid was accepted.

Background: I received an invitation to bid around the first of April.  Currently, we are in an oceanview and was given the option to bid on a balcony and/or suite.  The minimum bid on the balcony was $75 and on the suite the minimum was $150.

Since I am happy with our current cabin, I decided to take the "it can't hurt, let's see what happens" attitude and bid just slightly above the minimum, yet still considered in the "weak" category.  Also, given the cost of the balconies and suites my bids would be considered pretty nice deals (for me), and probably not worth accepting for RC.

As of today, all of the balconies and suites for my cruise are showing "sold out."  They have been for a little while, so I'm not sure if that really means anything.   I've gone on other cruise booking sites and have seen that a few cabins in these categories are still available.

I am expecting to receive the rejection email from RC any day now and will be absolutely fine with that.  However,  if either of my bids are accepted I'll be thrilled!  I'll come back here to let you know what happens on Saturday which will be the 48 hour mark.

Stay tuned!

It’s exciting to “see” if it happens. We are comped a crown loft and bid on an aqua 2 bedroom. We are more than happy with our cabin but for what we paid to get an aqua site would be beyond thrilling. Good luck to you. And yes please report back and enjoy your cruise no matter what happens

We are traveling as 3 with myself, my wife and our 16 year old son.  We've cruised plenty and are happy with the Oceanview balcony on the 12th floor (6D) that we have already been assigned.  Looks like I could bid on an "Ultra Spacious" for $400 total.  Question is... would that give my 5'11" 16 year old son a larger bed than the existing sleeper sofa?

That's a good price, our upgrade offer started with a minimum of £310 PP from OV to balcony (7 day cruise). Too much for me. Good luck on your bid

Yes, yes they WILL "archive" that (e.g. file 13) by being nasty to customers.  Pretty sure you had MEANT to type "achieve that" but you did give me a good laugh

According to the Royal UP! we received there are no aquasuites offered but for a mear $2,200 we could "bid" on an Owner Suite which we know would have plenty of space...LOL

We nearly did this for an upgrade, realized the cost, and the risk factor of losing our aft Jr Suite....sacrificing it for a larger cabin on the side for more loot???......heck with that!
