Gateway. Drinkable water

All the water you can easily access is safe to drink. It is chlorinated but, because of the nature of the ship's water distribution system, it most likely has less disinfection by-products than municipal chlorinated water. That means less chloroform, bromodichloromethane, dibromochloromethane and bromoform that you would find at home. Those dangerous byproducts of water sanitation with chlorine happen when the chlorine reacts with organic matter such as tree roots, dirt, etc. that can get into a buried piping system.

To the extent the ship is using bunkered water from a port, you might find those chemicals in the water.

The water served to guests in the buffet, bars and restaurants is carbon filtered which removes chlorine at the tap, and is much better tasting if you object to the chlorine smell and taste. But for almost everybody, the water is perfectly safe.

If you want cold water use the water in the ice bucket when the ice has partially melted.  Perfectly drinkable as is all drinking water on board.

If you take it off the ship in bottles don't forget to empty the bottles before re-boarding otherwise you may well lose the bottles.

We sail multiple times a year and have never purchased bottled water

on the ship. We sometimes fill empty plastic bottles from our sink to take off the ship for the convenience (and to avoid local water in places where it is questionable).

Exactly what I am doing, bringing empty water bottles (6) to keep in fridge for beach days :).

We are just off the getaway.  Yes, water from tap tasted fine. There is also many water/ice stations in the buffet area. It says do not fill your water bottle, but many did. I did so early in the morning.

Yeah they want people to use a cup to fill their bottles, so germs aren't passed.

We didnt have bottles.  We had Yeti type cup, so the rim never came into contact with the water machine.

The prohibition on using your bottle/cup to refill is not just for the rim touching the spout of the machine, but if it is the type that the glass/bottle/cup depresses a lever to dispense, then the lever can be contaminated by someone's bottle/cup and transfer that to your bottle/cup and thence to your hands, and so on, or if the rim of your cup where your mouth touches is the same place that depresses the dispensing lever.
