OBC not on account onboard.....

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

We are onboard the Explorer of the seas at the moment.

Booked thru a travel agent , it is a popular one ,know I can't name them ,wish I could.

We checked with the agent about our onboard credit, assured that it would be on our account once we were onboard,or within the FIRST day or so.

We waited and waited, finally went to guest services who suggested we ring our agent.

Contacted them to be told that yes they were aware of the problem (There is 4 couples in the same situation as well, that we know of).

They aren't able to give us our onboard credit ,whilst we are onboard.

But we are required to spend the amount and then forward our account to them to be reimbursed... WHEN we arrive home.

I will be ringing in the morning and asking to speak to a supervisor. Refuse to talk to a call centre again.

I think being fobbed off when we ask for the obc ,that was part of our booking contract, which should be on our account this cruise,is not a satisfactory solution.

Just annoying.

Deb (and Bob).

It’s annoying it wasn’t there in the first place but it’s probably the travel agents mistake and they can’t add on board credit to a cruise once it has already commenced, hence why they have offered to reimburse later as it is the only solution now.

It’s a pain but at least they have offered to pay for it and you’re still getting exactly what you were promised. Relax and enjoy your holiday you will still get the OBC albeit through reimbursement.

I think you need a new travel agent, just don’t lose sleep over it 🙂

Our travel group's recent abandonment of our TA, and reliance on me to book direct with the cruise lines has, after booking two cruises for 6 people with two different lines, made me realise that when it comes to making cruise bookings if a TA stuffs it up they are nothing less than total idiots. It is such a simple process, particularly if it is with one of the Carnival group, where all you need is that magic passenger number, which is actually your Princess Captains Circle number.

A lot of the time the agent tries to twist it around a blame you.

one time a agent book a return flight a month before we left and blamed me because I signed and didn’t check the itinerary.

Now that is service.

But sometimes you can get a good price with a cruise specialist.

Good to see you’re still cruising, Deb. Catch up one day, Mary and Frank.

Something similar happened with our group (4 x couples) on our Carnival Spirit cruise, where none of our 'booking bonus' OBC showed up. The cruise was booked thru the Captain. I called them from the ship, and they were unable to apply it then as the cruise was already started. I didn't take time out of my cruise to post on cc.

The TA arranged to send me a cheque (what's a cheque? 🙂 ) which we received post-cruise & I distributed to all parties. Sometimes ship happens - the money was still the same money.

I'd say that if they have no idea what you're talking about when you try to chase it up.

If you call them up though and they sort it out as best as can be, it's just a mistake. If it's a one-off, and resolved amicably, just take it as that. Mistakes happen; nobody's perfect and it's foolish to believe otherwise.

Slack T/A, not the cruise line's fault.

I agree.  I was missing OBC one time....had the paperwork with me to be sure.  I emailed our agent at a big online agency and she took care of it at once.
