How often do Captains go from a relatively new class to a smaller/older class based on need, itinerary, preference, or whatever?

Roy

On the avg, they stay two-four years on their current ship, sometime longer, Capt. Henk Draper stayed six years on the Maasdam

I think we had Noel O'Driscoll on the Veendam 2 years ago.  Is it possible to go from a "S" class to a "P" class so quickly?

Noel was master of the Koningsdam last year.  He was master during the time that Captain Albert was also onboard preparing to join the Nieuw Statendam.  We were onboard in October and he was master. we had a nice Bridge visit while in Cadiz.

So , a question for those of your subscribe/have the upgrade on PTZ: do you still get the delay (I'm still looking at Silhouette making the turn for the channel) or is everything live?

When they have a lot of viewers on either cameras mine sometimes freeze up and have to be rebooted.  Usually if the numbers are below 1,000 viewers they seem to work ok.  The marine traffic is delayed a couple of minutes from the actual picture almost all of the time Copper.  I don't have the upgraded PTZ so maybe theirs are real time.

Yeo more weeks and I will be on the Nieuw Statendam!    Will I like it?

Yes, Father, I think you will like the ship.  Be prepared for art that is quite different from the other Classes of ship.  Very interesting and some makes me wonder what the artist was trying to say.  Be sure to try Sel de Mar, if possible.  Excellent service and the best dinner I had aboard.  The Grand Dutch Cafe is a winner; really enjoyed their Grilled Ham and Edam (I think) Cheese Sandwich as well as the Pea Soup.  Never had room for the Dutch Apple Pie, but it surely looked delicious.
