Could you please provide information from the "Spotlight" which outlines Captain, Senior Officers and Staff.  I know they do not print them but if you could obtain the info and provide it here that would be appreciated.  Thanks.

I’ll look for that   Are they on screens on the walls somewhere like on other ships?

Do not know about screens on walls.   On the other ships it is a two sided piece of paper that is inserted into the daily planner and in the rooms on arrival day.  As well they are normally available at Guest Relations desk.  However I heard that they do not do this on the Edge.   I was told you can view it on your tv screen in your room.  Perhaps you can take a photo that would be readable or provide the names from that listing.

Thanks.

To finish up on Sunday evening 🙂.

First I must say that the internet is *fine* it’s definitely slower than what Im used to on land.  Not a complaint. It’s allowing me to work and also post here so it’s positive.  Just want those following not to expect at home speed

My second disclaimer as I get more into experiences on this ship: I promised to give you a bit of comparison from other lines I’ve sailed and I think it’s Important to note that 98% of my sailing experience comes from personal vacations. The community team doesn’t sail very often for work purposes. This sailing and meeting members is a special treat!

While on board I was interested in trying some of dinner experiences.  Last night we dined in Le Petit Chef.   It’s $55 pp.  You get a 4 course meal for that.  There is a set menu and an alternate menu but they worked with anyone at our table who had allergies and/or other dietary restrictions.

*something new:  after feedback they added a wine pairing.  4 wines for $15

If you are able to, choose the Le Petit Chef menu.  I say this for two reasons. This menu goes with the dinner show.  You’ll still have a great experience if you choose something from the alternative menu or have a dietary substitute, though.  It doesn’t hurt the show to not have the menu.  Perhaps just an added enhancement to have it (trying to not give the show away!)  The second reason it was suggested to me to stick with the Le Petit menu was because the items on the alternative menu are ones that can be found in other restaurants normally. So there is that to help you decide on menu 🙂  You can pick and choose from two menus per course as well. You are not committing to eat all dishes just from one menu.

I apologize I don’t have the alternative menu. If I find it I’ll snap a photo and add it.  There was French Onion Soup, a Chicken fish, a SeaBass(I think!)dish and a sorbet dessert.

You can tell I’m out of cruise trip review practice (2 years since I’ve cruised!) when I ate the first dish sans photo!  It was the lovely tomato salad.  I’ll just share the start of the show instead 🙂  Also, photos were hard because of the show lighting!

4 courses, 4 people at our table, and each one of us had a different favorite dish. This shows how subjective food is, but we all agreed everything was really delicious. Three of us ate the Le Petit Chef menu and 1 of us had dietary restrictions so slight changes were made to accommodate the tomato dish.

The second course on the Le Petit Chef  menu is Ravioli.  This was my personal favorite.  I’ve sailed Disney many times in the past 10 years.  I use them to compare all cruise food to as they have the best in my opinion.  My favorite dish in all of life is the black truffle pasta pursettes on Disney ships. They are a black truffle and cheese filled pasta in a champagne cream sauce.  I mention this because this dish from Le Petit Chef promises to provide that same flavor profile. It did not disappoint and I’d be hard pressed to find a better truffle filled pasta anywhere else. (Sorry Disney! Important to note though Disney’s dish is in an included in the main dining room while this dish on Edge was in a for fee venue)

This photo doesn’t do the dish justice.  And if it isn’t obvious this was my favorite course

The third dish was steak and frites (fries!)

I don’t know what cut of beef this steak was but it was juicy and tender and up there with the best steaks (that I’ve tried) at sea.

ECC2DFA5-909C-43C7-AE51-B5844E351587.jpeg

Last was dessert and it did not disappoint. There were so many different flavors!  I personally loved the toragashi spice sprinkled about the plate to give the spicy/sweet flavors (just a hint!)

54D85C2D-A2EE-4A71-AA41-C2F7EF1458F7.jpeg

My overall impression.  I was impressed.  Comparing specifically to Disney since they have immersive dinner experiences on their ships.  You would almost expect Disney to have something like this experience but they don’t.  Fun and whimsical but not too childish.  The food didn’t take second seat to the show either and could hold it’s own if it were a standalone menu.

If you are looking for a fun dinner experience while on board I highly recommend

And that was it for day 1!  I was so full from dinner that I immediately came back to my stateroom and fell quickly to sleep.   I did try to sleep with my IV open but the humidity was too much.  D88671B8-DAA6-4C4D-9311-143250953722.jpeg

after turn down.  Chocolates and also water was left in the room

You are correct; the officer line-up/bios are not printed/delivered with the embarkation day daily on Edge...  Supposedly, the info was available via the TV but--perhaps I just missed it--was never able to find them while aboard last month...

On EDGE in January there was no printed insert. I kept waiting for it but never arrived,

Dh found it on the TV ...was not easy to find and I think it went in a horizontal... direction...not sure if it's on the app which we do not use

A stupid idea...Difficult to read, no way to save except maybe by taking screen shots,

Technology  is not always better!

Enjoying your review!

AQ  class no longer receives daily water...just 2 welcome btls.  We did not care for the new water...metal btls and taste of it.  ( Processed vs Pure Spring)

We had the Classic  drink package which includes the new water but preferred our own Spring water that we brought onboard .

Happy to hear of changes to Rooftop Grill...we cancelled due to wind..even on a port night.  We will try again in Nov! Keep us posted....

One more thing from day 1.   I want to share what I’m wearing simply because I was really worried about what to wear on board.  What would be too casual / too dressed up. Trendy or not trendy enough. I really poured over reviews before deciding what to pack.  So if this helps anyone ...

Also.  There is a full length mirror in your room if you push the desk in.  I didn’t notice at first and took my outfit photos in the stairwell. I’m sure other guests thought I was insane 😂

Day and embarkation outfit (taken 16 hours after I left my house, flew to Florida, then toured the ship for a few hours 🤪😂)

Dinner.  Wear a sweater if you run cold like me.

73089492-CD85-4F9E-BAF9-0183AFBF3A25.jpeg

I didnt feel under or over dressed for day or evening though there were people more casual at dinner.  I didn’t run into anyone I’d consider dressed up more than me during the evening.  So cocktail is a good choice but also nice day dress or day wear would be good.  Honestly my day outfit would have seemed acceptable and not out of place at dinner as well

And here the mirror I missed that I had yesterday image.jpg

Love it Michelle, I wore Jeff’s beer and out neighbors our salad on the January 20th cruise.  Last week the winds were much kinder but we did not book up there.  Wish we had as our two Speciality restaurants down below were not our favorites. We had a delightful lunch on Saturday at Raw on Five, try not to miss that.  Also having a drink on the Magic Carpet day time is quite lovely.  K

Thanks Katie. Though I hope they've added screens by then, we'll definitely be prepared to hold onto our drinks & take evasive action😂 We're also booked for the other two specialty restaurants, so I hope they fix their issues very soon! We enjoy Sushi on Five, so we'll check out Raw on Five, and we definitely hoping to have a drink on the Magic Carpet. I've also got my eye on Le Grande Bistro. Can't wait to check out several items their menu. Wish you and VT could join us, but I bet you'd both want Suzy's suite😜 Cheers! M

I had dinner at The Rooftop Garden Grill while aboard Edge from 10 to 17 March...  During a conversation with the Maitre 'D, he told me that plans are already underway to enclose the restaurant [not sure if that means just wind barriers or some sort of roof for all-weather guest dining shelter, in hindsight, I should have asked] to address wind and soot [when I arrived, the staff was cleaning the white upholstered chairs] issues...  And in fact, he told me he thought the work might well be completed before I board again two weeks from today for the Transatlantic...

We'll see!

Would love to see pictures of the Rooftop Garden Grill modifications if they are done when you next sail.

Have fun all on this sailing..

We are on-board at Thanksgiving and I will be very interested in the Dailies and ease of getting on/off ship in ports visited.

bon voyage

Oh boy does that mean I should actually get off of the ship?!  Haha!  I am not sure if I am or not today here in Key West - and considering it is already noon, I am sure getting off the ship would be quite smooth.  I will ask around at the roll call tomorrow - and I will also ask my coworker if she went into town  this morning - to give opinions.

I will jump off on Grand Cayman if for nothing else just to report back about the ease (or lack of ease) tendering.  This has nothing to do with a Creperie that is not far from port that may have the best butter/sugar/lemon sweet crepe I have ever tasted 🙂

Thanks for posting your Le Petit Chef experience, Jenn. Though the concept looks entertaining, some of the menus don't appeal to us. Your menu looks great! Did you try the wine flight?

I did also try the wine flight but I don't think I have a photo of what wines were included.  I will see what I can dig up, I bet it is on the menu.  I do recall the last wine was Rosa Regale.  That is a sweat sparkling dessert wine but it paired well with dessert.  The first two wines were whites - not sweet, and the third was a red that paired with the steak

Editing because apparently I DO have the wines that were included in my menu photo above!!!

The first was a Sancerre Sauvignon Blanc - Jacques Dumont

The second was a chenin blanc, Saget la Perriere Vouvray Marie de Beauregard

The third was a Grenache - Shatter, Joel Gott & Dave Phinney

The fourth was a sparkling wine  Banfi's Rosa Regale Brachetto D'acqui

I am having an unexciting morning 🙂  Everyone is off in Key West, I woke at a reasonable time but had a LOVELY sleep.  The bed was extremely comfortable and having it all to myself is something I don't get to experience but a few times a year when my husband travels for work.

After I worked for a bit, I went for a run on the track outside.   It spans deck 15 and 16 so you do get some hill workouts in your run and not just a flat course.  It is sunny, like most of the ship.  There were two shady spots that were much appreciated in the Key West humidity and heat.  97AE39A0-F3FA-4024-A4FA-DA8041BF503B.jpeg

Hows that for a map of my run 😊 That is not even the right ship but funny that there was a ship here whenever the satellite image was taken!

After that I grabbed a late but light breakfast in the Oceanview and enjoyed the view sitting at one of the long tables that is in front of windows.

I am back in the cabin now, again working (I am a bundle of fun aren't I?)  but am getting ready for shower number 2 of the day and then perhaps some more meandering around the ship.  How about this shower though?!

Thank you so much for your review! I’m laughing that you compared the truffle ravioli to Disney’s as that is exactly what I thought! Reflection last week offered both menus. We had done the other one last year so did the same one that Edge offers and loved it. We didn’t get offered the wine pairing - I wouldn’t have liked it but my mum would have loved it for the Rosa Regale.

We are doing Aqua Class for a week then one of the regular balconies the next week in July - cannot wait!

I worked much of the day.

I did break for a light lunch from the Oceanview Cafe

and caught some sun and a movie at the rooftop garden

The pizza was really good!  I know it’s hard to find good pizza at sea so I’m impressed.

A reoccurring theme you’ll notice is me finding spots on the ship to relax.  There’s a lovely area on Deck 5 outside of Eden.  It has tables and chairs plus some lounge type chairs.  It’s covered and a great quiet spot.

Dinner was in Blu tonight.  We walked in at 6:20 and had no problem being seated right away.  That seemed to be the case while we were eating too.  No wait.  On the other hand when I walked by the other MDR tonight, Cyprus seemed to have a bit of a line.  The other three did not.

Our bread course had three spreads.  A pea spread, a beet spread, and salted butter.  I don’t normally grab for the bread course but did so in the name of this trip report 😜.  All of the spreads were tasty but I especially loved the beet.  It tasted like my favorite vinegar soaked beats that I eat at home.

I chose the Corn Soup as my appetizer. I had a hint of spice and was really good. Came piping hot which my mother in law would appreciate.

For my main I chose the Turkey Roulade. Our server asked if I liked Turkey and went on to say he thought the dish was “okay”.  I had flashes of the “Just Okay” commercials for AT&T.  I was worried after that but stuck with my choice.  I was not disappointed.  It was delicious. Great flavors. It was not your average turkey dinner for sure.

For dessert I went with the Creme Brûlée because it’s something I always need to try once in every ship.  It was perfect though I’ve never met a Creme Brûlée I didn’t like

After dinner we planned to see the Acrobatic Show Mirage.  However we took a bit longer at dinner so we were 5 mins late.  The Club was packed, not even standing room.  It must be a good show!  We walked over to the Main Theater and Hard Day’s Night was playing. That was not full.

368FA0FB-13B4-495E-A0A1-E788E2995CD5.jpeg

Plenty of empty seats AND there is a second showing of this at 9:30.  I kind of wish those two shows switched locations so more could see Mirage.  So many people were turned away from The Club since it was full.

With nothing else at the moment that interested me I decided to check out the Casino.  I don’t generally gamble but played on a slot machine for just a little bit. I didn’t win.  Whomp whomp. But the casino offers free drinks while you play so I did get a “free” glass of wine.

Thats it for today.  We have our Connections Party tomorrow am so I’ll report back after that

And my “What did I wear” for the day

For my run.  I only saw a few others working out.  Seemed like appropriate attire for a work out.

day outfit — lunch, movie watching

D13EBC0A-1C6C-4074-9997-A9EBFB30F4E5.jpeg

day outfits today ranged from bathing suits to sundresses.  Generally if not at the pool most women had on a day/sun dresses or nice tops with a skirt or pants.  You would see a tad more casual at Oceanview but I assume those were people coming in from excursions or the pool.  Otherwise I didn’t see a lot of extra casual wear like Jean shorts, gym type shorts etc walking around during the day.  Likewise most men had nicer shorts with either a tee or those lightweight button shirts who’s name escapes me at the moment.

Dinner was casual chic again.   Still not sure what that means 🙂

715796FD-14EB-43B1-82B4-CB885154042B.jpeg

I feel like a cocktail dress is always appropriate.  Many women were similarly dressed or a nice pant and top.  Men wore pants and nicer tees or collared shirts.  Nothing much fancier for either.
