Interested in what was great on your cruises on the EDGE. Wasn't the terrible food we had every day. Wasn't the atmosphere, there wasn't one, wasn't the extremely loud music was it. Wasn't the terrible seating was it. Wasn't the absence of color on the ship. What did you call the show at the EDEN? Children playing? What did you call the lunch at the EDEN? How did you sleep on the rock hard bed? Wasn't the absence of seating at the martini bar was it? The only positive on that ship was the staff. They were hand picked and the best ever. The EDGE was the worst cruise we took out of 70 cruises. I really hope they change many things. nothing to do on that ship but drink and eat. Deal or No Deal game was nothing but a rip off of $25.00. Most any winners only got some match play at the casino. The only one that made out was the person picked to play. The magic carpet is nothing but a gimmick and a joke. The few times it was available to get on. You could never get on it to get a drink. that is when it was open for that. packed. Dining on it was impossible with the heavy winds. Table cloths blowing off of the table and the womens hair getting totally messed up. A stupid idea for sure. Expecting to use the magic carpet and the nice boats they bragged about to go to shore was a major let down. Same old, same old. Asked why. Cannot use the magic carpet with the standard boats. Our boats do not hold enough people. So what you see in the videos is nothing more than a lie. Maybe they use them when they go to there island. The EDGE a total let down. Like sailing on a hotel and nothing more.

Well, we agree with twodaywonder, and we've been on about 70 cruises too.  We were on the Edge for 10 days and while there were some nice things, we were disappointed also with all the things mentioned above plus more.  However, we are going on the Millennium next month in hopes that things haven't been spoiled on the M class ships.  :classic_sad:

Hi Jenn -  really enjoying your take on Edge. Hope you had a relaxing Easter day with your family. Looking forward to that question and answer meeting about the past and future improvements on Edge shared with you and other CC members by the ship's staff. We cruised on Edge on March 24th and really enjoyed the ship!

Happy Easter, Jenn! Like twodjs, I’ve enjoyed your live review very much, and I’m really looking forward to hearing about the question & answer meeting. We board Edge next Sunday😎😎

We were on the Edge for two weeks and debated about getting our deposit back before final payment because of all the negative remarks about the ship.

We are very very happy that we made the full payment.

everyone is entitled to their own opinion and we all have different experiences but I think a lot of the negative stuff was over exaggerated

We loved almost everything on the ship and were happy to be on it for two weeks.   We had a Infinite Balcony and love it.   There may be some minor design issues but not as bad as wrote about.  I would definitely book another  infinite  balcony if we ever sail on a Edge Class again.  Problem is the cruises on the Edge are beyond our budget to keep sailing on it.

There was more than one staff member and BT during conversations told us that many always come on board just to complain.  We were also told by different  staff members on other cruises that passengers that constantly complain are put on a “watch or Black list”, and eventually they will be refused booking a cruise.  Makes sense because if you aren’t happy don’t keep sailing with us.

Some stuff is just petty.  We were in Blu on the Edge.  It was the 3rd night of a 7 day cruise.   The server must have  asked the passengers at a table about 10 ft from us about how they liked  the appetizer.   The female in a very loud and nasty voice said it was too salty.   Don’t know what the server ( the same one that we had every night and very nice) said but then the female started to almost scream that she wanted to see the chef and Maitre D.   They came over and she continued to make a scene.   Tried to listen to the conversation and then heard  the female say that they wanted a free dinner in Eden to compensate for the bad service they were getting in Blu and the terrible food.

Don’t know the result but we gave our server a very positive comment on the attention to detail card.

I am positive that you will have a very enjoyable cruise.  We did

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸

It takes all kinds..Sadly this rude type of  outburst can hurt an employee's status.

We handed in compliment cards for our  BLU servers ( waiter..pronounced "goodday") , and cabin attendant , all of whom were amazing!.  They each got free phone time and  some time off and very much appreciated that we took the time to praise them.

Wish more people took the time... it means so much to the hardworking staff and lets management know cruisers are happy with the services on board.

I’m happy to see that I’m not the only person who fills out those mid-cruise staff commendation cards! On our Baltic cruise last summer, I queued at Guest Relations amongst a herd of passengers who either wanted to remove the auto gratuities or demand some sort of future cruise compensation for having missed SPB (missed due to very high winds). By the time I reached the desk, the staff member seemed rather wary. I’m sure you can imagine her happiness when I explained that I only needed some staff commendation cards, and some envelopes to use for additional gratuities to special staff members.

Thank you for posting your recent positive experience on Edge. We’re excited about sailing on her, despite the issues some previous passengers have had (especially those on the inaugural cruises). Though I do believe X made some design & furnishing mistakes on Edge, I’m encouraged by the news that they’ve already reacted to passenger feedback by making some positive changes. We’re booked in a Concierge Infinite Veranda. They have 15 days to wow us, starting with the boarding process😉

In defense of some of those on the inaugural cruises  I do understand that some changes have been  made due to the passengers feedback and comments.   It is still a work in progress.

Thankfully we sailed in March and and it wasn’t the inaugural cruise. Even at that some of those complaints like no chairs on 1/2 of the Martini Bar would have made mo difference to us.  But again if a passenger likes to sail on X to be able to sit at the martini bar and they couldn’t it would be a issue  for them. ,

other dumb stuff like the performers roaming around bothering passengers in Eden is BS.  It is a performance that’s starts at 10 and if you don’t want to participate don’t sit in the front near the flat stone in the center of the area or just say no.   It is the same if you don’t want the comic in the theater to pick on you.   Don’t sit in the front row or get up to walk out.  Or those that go to a late night adult comedy show, sit in the x front row and then walk out yelling that it is disgusting.

we found almost every chair to be very comfortable.   A big improvement over all the chairs on their other ships that were either too low, too deep or just not right or comfortable.

I am sure that you will love almost everything about the ship.  Nothing is perfect except for Jesus Christ and look what they did  to him

Happy Easter.

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

After we pass in the comment cards, it is so nice to hear back about how their manager recognized them in front of his/her co-workers and that the comments cards would really help them. We even had someone on our Dec cruise thank us profusely for the recognition on a TA that was 5 years before. He said we helped him progress in the company (from the comment cards and from my Cruise Critic review - I didn't think the review was that great!). He was in charge of the Iconics on the Edge and saw us onboard and came running up to us and got teary. It was so wonderful to hear that his son had started college (the main reason he started working on X, which meant leaving his wife and 3 kids at home most of the year, was to ensure a good education for his kids). Gotta love cruising - so many happy moments! 🙂

I was reading a review recently where someone mentioned keeping the comment cards on hand and making a point to compliment someone or something they appreciated or liked at least once a day on their cruise.

I've learned a lot from many much more experienced folks here, and that is by far the best idea or tip I've picked up!  I fully intend to follow that most excellent example, and suspect that being focused on the positive will benefit my own experiences as much as the hard working staff who serve us.

Hi Jenn- I'll be going on the Edge TA this Sunday April 28th and flying down to Florida on Thursday. Is there any chance you'll post the meet and greet info and video before then as I and I'm sure others would like to get that info.

Just saw the article "The Edge Evolution: Just Back From Celebrity Cruises' New (and improved) Celebrity Edge".

Authored by Ashley Kosciolek from Cruisecritic, this is the piece Jenn mentioned was being written by Ashley to sumerize some of the current and future changes that have or will be happening to Edge. This article appeared on my main Google page about 12 hours ago. Sorry, don't know how to link it here. The one mention of a potential change to the IV is a test of frosted glass folding doors in a few cabins. If proven sussessful in better blocking the light, they would change out the current clear design.

Still hoping to read and watch the questions and answers from the CC meeting with the ship staff. Hope to gain a little more insight with more complete details. This summary is at least a start.

Thanks twodjs and debinAntigua

Very interesting article... Great job by Ashley...esp after the live review by Jen

When we return to EDGE,  we look forward to  experiencing the revised show formats, brunch at the Bistro  for sure,  and   will be  following the 4 mdr menu changes. Dining on the MC may not work for us due to dh severe  lobster allergy ..(recent reviews indicate the foods are served on a mixed platter.)  But we look forward to sitting out there for drinks with awesome view!

Also glad there may be more shade and wind blockers on open deck areas..sorely needed.

As for the IVs, frosted bi fold glass won't do much for us...they are  cumbersome to operate, and if one is on the balc side with doors closed it feels closed in and gets very warm. We liked our AQ Class IV , and had no major issues with the  veranda doors left open..other than AC  control.

No mention was made of  general acoustics in the Martini bar area and noise/ music affecting restaurants  nearby. Work in Progress!

We are not  going back on EDGE until Nov so things may  continue to change and evolve.  We'll be in a SV with the 4 mdr plan.

Glad X is doing it's best listening to guest feedback.  Thanks to Cruise Critic for providing a forum  where  info can be shared!

I am alive!  I'm so sorry I dropped off 🙂  I came back to a big old pile of work, even though I was working while on board.     My land legs are mostly back but holy heck the pollen is out in full force in NJ.  Thought perhaps I picked up a cold with all of the travel but nope - just normal spring pollen making life interesting.

I am going to post the Q & A videos now - and then I can come back after they upload and try to summarize them for anyone who doesn't want to watch the actual video - but Ashley's article also does a great job of summarizing the changes.  https://www.cruisecritic.com/news/4017/

We had dinner at in Fine Cut steakhouse.  The charge is $55.  I told you I was trying as many venues as I could!  I do wish I had time to sample the MDRs as well to do a comparison

I may have missed something in other posts and am curious  to know who is the other part of  “we”  that you dined with?

Thanks

Happy cruising 🌊🚢🇺🇸🌅

I had dinner with Ashley (my coworker) and her guest that night 🙂

I'm sorry that you didn't have a great experience.  I am not familiar with if you have sailed on any ships in the past or if Edge was your first.  I personally think there is at least one ship out there for everyone.  I hope you don't let this one experience color your thoughts of cruising in the future.
