Ship:  Millenium

Length of cruise:  4 nights

Cruise Sail Date:  3/31/22

Date Email Offer Received:  1/31/22

Captain’s Club Tier:  Elite (Royal Caribbean Diamond Plus reciprocity), only two previous cruises on Celebrity

Booked through Celebrity Direct or via TA:  online TA

Current Cabin:  Verandah

Bid?:  Yes

Cabin category:  Family Verandah

Bid offer:  $75 pp

Notification date:  3/19/22

Accepted / Rejected:  Accepted

General Comment:  This cruise was originally booked in January 2021 because of an unbelievably low price, then lifted and shifted.  The minimum bid was $50; I bid $75 on the FV, but wasn’t interested in the other categories.  Two weeks ago I noticed that I was unable to modify or cancel my bid, and I was “not eligible for upgrade” when I clicked on the original link to see the other categories.  I have been checking twice daily, but was surprised by the “Congratulations” email this afternoon.  Total cost for this cruise with upgrade was less than $900.

Sky suites were over sold on this cruise. I’m in one and they are trying to get me to move to another cruise.

Is the minimum set in stone or do they drop it the day of the cruise

in the MOVE UP process, you have to bid minimum.. These may or may not change prior to sailing.  If you aren't comfortable with minimum bid, you can always try to upgrade through guest services day of sailing.

We are on the ship also. OV 08 deck 2. Put in a low  bid for a veranda but you are right- the ship looks pretty full so doubt we will get it. Only hoping.... We booked a guarantee & this is the first time we ever got such a bad cabin. Celebrity said the cruise was only 50% booked but now I see it looks pretty full. I will never book directly with Celebrity again.

We always book with celebrity- some big box stores do not participate in the move up.

Hey NYer, I'm also a born & bred NYer also but don't live there currently. So far I would say calling Celebrity has been terrible with long wait times & may problems with our reservation- over 1 hour several days to get various issues sorted out. Our cruise looks pretty full so I doubt we will get an upgrade. So far I would return to the $1.50 hot dog store for quicker responses & more knowledgeable sales staff- I never had a problem with them. But we will see if we get an upgrade.

General Comments (offer details, etc.)  First time I have done a move-up bid.  Keeping my fingers crossed.  Only 3 Family Veranda look available, but lots of regular verandas.  Normally wouldn't be interested in Concierge, but in this case the cabin is 30sqft larger and has a balcony, so went for it as well.  Cost to upgrade our room to one with a balcony looks to be $1,000 a person, so any of these would be a real deal.

I originally placed the Tracker in the thread initiated by CruisingChick on April 23, 2018.  However, the tracker gets lost amongst all the many questions/comments (understandably).  Thus, I have decided to create a single thread for tracking purposes only (filtering out everything else).

The purpose of this thread is strictly for compiling information into a spreadsheet.   I will be running this tracker for ~ 6 months to see if any interesting trends come about and/or for general information purposes.  Will reevaluate its usefulness thereafter.

IF you wish to participate, answer the following questions as best as you can and I will transfer the info to the Tracker.
Please do not ask questions here (redirect your questions/comments to the CruisingChick thread of April 2018).

  • Captain’s Club Tier: Classic
  • Booked through Celebrity Direct OR via TA: US online TA
  • Current Cabin: 1B Veranda
  • Bid? Yes/No: Yes

If YES -  Bidding Details:

  • Cabin Category: Sunset Veranda
  • Bid Offer: $70pp (Weak) - Raised from 65$pp mid-March
  • Notification Date:
  • Accepted / Rejected: Rejected

General Comments (offer details, etc.):

Minimum Bids

  • Sunset Veranda - $50pp
  • Infinite Veranda - $50pp
  • Concierge Class - $200pp
  • AquaClass - $350pp
  • Sky Suite - $1200pp
  • Celebrity Suite - $2000pp
  • Royal Suite - $3500pp
  • Edge Villa - $4500pp

Put a low bid on a sunset veranda. I don't expect to win it with our bid, but we got our current 1B at a very low price as part of a Lift & Shift, so we are perfectly fine with staying in the 1B as well.

As expected, my bid mentioned above was rejected this Thursday, almost exactly 48 hours before departure. I say expected, seeing that there had been no available SV cabins for about a month, as well as no AQ and no suites of any type, hence any SV guests bidding for upgrades to either AQ or suites would presumably have been rejected as well, leaving no SV cabins for us to move up to!

I'm sure we will enjoy our 1B verandah cabin far aft on deck 6.

Apparently, I was premature in saying rejected. It completely disappeared from Manage Reservation a few days ago, then yesterday afternoon I got an accepted email.
