motheroftwocats814 Posted September 3, 2019 #1 Share Posted September 3, 2019 HI all- We tend to drink more than normal while cruising. So we purchased the beverage package because it works out for us cost wise. On other cruise lines we have had the package cap out at 15 drinks in a 24 hour period. Is this so with RC? I think it would be rare for us to do 15 drinks..10 would be about the max over the course of the day. Beers go down really fast on the pool deck. LOL! Just curious. Happy cruising! cb at sea Posted September 3, 2019 #2 Share Posted September 3, 2019 RCI has no "limit" on the number of drinks you may have on a package, unlike Carnival!

To the best of my knowledge, only Carnival has a 15 drink max on their cruises - regardless of whether or not you have a package BTW. RCL bar staff are responsible for cutting off those that are heavily inebriated and, on the whole, they do a good job.

I have seen many get cut off and it wasn't pretty.

If the bartender feels you are overly intoxicated they will cut you off drink plan or no drink plan. My cousin drinks A LOT on cruises and has never been cut off and I can tell you he will drink more then 15 light beers in a day but he never looks or acts drunk. Thats the difference. rusty nut Posted September 3, 2019 #11 Share Posted September 3, 2019 Yes, there is a cap! Your per drink dollar limit. I believe the dollar limit is set at $14. Other than that, there's no limit on the quantity.

NCL was telling some people on an NCL cruise we were on that the cap was 15. But maybe because they wanted to use that as a reason to cut them off. There is no cap if you don't have a package on CCL, you may buy as many drinks as you want as long as the bartender doesn't think you are too intoxicated. Well light beer typically has 1/2 the alcohol as regular beer. And whereas regular beer takes about an hour for the BAC content to reach 0, light beer takes around 1/2 hour. So yes he can, with spacing, drink 15+ light beers over a 10-12 hour period and still not be drunk.

Not quite true: Bud Light is 4.2% & Bud is 5%, same for Miller Lite and MGD; Corona Light is 4.1% & Corona is 4.5% Another odd one is Guinness which on draught is 4.2% but Guinness Draught in a can/bottle is 5.2% and then there are bottles of Guinness Extra Stout which is 7.5% - no one would ever describe any version of Guinness as "light" or "lite".
