Can someone tell me how many bottles of wine you are allowed to carry on board?

As many as you want. The first one per person is free if consumed in the cabin. After that, $15 corkage per bottle applies.

For a cruise last fall we brought 36 bottles on board. 24 were in two 12 bottle cases. We checked them as luggage with a tag taped on. The other 12 were considerably more money so we put them in wine shipping boxes with styrofoam inserts, and again checked them as luggage. All were delivered before late seating. When they delivered the wine, they put the cases where we wanted them in the room. For us, the bottom of the closet works great.

 

I did go down to the pursers and pay the corkage around 5 hours after boarding.

2 of my 36 bottles were port. I know others have indicated you can't bring fortified wine, but we have checked port and hand carried it on never having a problem.

Good to hear. It would be a major bummer to have a good port confiscated.

IF you are sailing B2B, are you allowed two bottles per stateroom per cruise?

Yes. Bring both boarding passes and if there is any question just show them both. Many have taken their B2B wine aboard at initial embarkation.

I have taken the first bottle to dining room and not been charged corkage on it.

I've always assumed the prohibition on fortified wine was aimed more at Thunderbird than at Madeira.

We brought aboard six bottles in Southampton. I did not see a table for people to declare their excess bottles. There may have been one I missed. We paid corkage on the bottles we took to the dining room. We also bought two bottles in France and two in Portugal that we were allowed to bring on the ship. They did not have an alcohol table that I saw in those ports either. Once again, we paid the corkage on the bottles we took the dining room.

Do you get one or 2 bottles of wine per cabin free? Normally we are allowed 2 bottles on most of the other cruise lines.

Princess' policy is "per person" and not "per cabin", so the answer in your case is total of two.

Well maybe they would just hold it until the end of the cruise?  
Geez, I would love to bring on a bottle of port for an after dinner drink.  I prefer it over dessert.

When we've had the beverage package I've been known to order port after dinner.
