FLL Parking

Dear Friends,

My wife and I booked the Crown Princess in December for 10 days to the Southern Caribbean.  We are driving from the gulf coast of Florida to FLL, about 4 hours.  Does anyone have advice about parking at the cruise port vs. a hotel the night before?  We are new residents to FL and have always flown into FLL the night before so this is new to us.  Any advice is greatly appreciated!  As some of you may be able to tell from my sign on....its been a long time since we've cruised.  We're so excited to be back!

Lots of good off-site parking at Fll. GO to the Florida departures section (where this thread will be moved to) and find the recommendations.

A number of off site parking options, mentioned above, which are less $$ per day. Parking in the Port Everglades parking garages is more expensive, but really convenient and under cover. You can be on your way really quickly. Certain disabled individuals can park in the Port Everglades lots, no charge. Disabled vets. with FL disabled vet license plates are one. There are others. If you think you qualify check out the web site for details.

We drive in from Orlando the day of the cruise, and always park at the port.  Like others said, it might be a little more expensive than off-site parking, but it's always been great for us.  Super convenient and easy in/easy out.

The two times we've driven, we've parked at the port. Our cruises were over the holidays, and the private places raised their rates to where parking at the port was just a little bit more. The convenience was worth it.

Suggest that you double check driving time.  Unless you have FHP escort I think you will find that 5 hours, maybe more with traffic is likely.

Does anyone have advice about parking at the cruise port vs. a hotel the night before?

Again, I suggest that you find lodging an hour or so north of FLL (Ft Pierce?) as accomodations are plentiful and cost effective.  Then use Park N Go at the port

for more reasonable parking costs.

we have been driving down day of ... now go down at least 1 day early on the short cruises , and park at the port unless the ship goes out of one terminal (2) and comes back into a different ... then we will use park n go at the port ...

We have used Park'n'Fly several times when we have driven to the port and found them to be great.  They take and pick us up at the cruise terminal so we don't have to worry about the ship changing terminals on the return and being a long way from our car.  Their service has been excellent.  We have been staying at the Embassy Suites near the port and more importantly Total Wines.  They had a port shuttle.

If you are looking for a hotel that will take you to the ship stay as far as you can away from the Ramada near the Cruise port on SR84 Marina Mile Blvd.  It is as rundown old motel that has had little updating, poorly run and dirty.  The manager (owner) is the most obnoxious person I have ever met.  The included breakfast is not even up to Motel 6 standards.  I wrote a scathing report for TripAdvisor and he contacted me wanting me to take it down but I refused.  So then he notified TripAdvisor that I had stayed at another Ramada and to take it down.  I was watching the post and when it disappeared, I notified TripAdvisor that I indeed had stayed at that property they put it back.  Stay as far away as you can from this dive.

Sorry, but your post makes no sense at all.  First, you have NO IDEA where the OP lives on the Gulf Coast.  They have said the trip is about 4 hours from their residence.  Why would you dispute that?  There are places on the Gulf side that are much less than 4 hours from FLL.

And if one is driving to FLL/PE for a cruise, why on earth would you suggest they stay way to the north at Fort Pierce?  I have no doubt there are cost-effective accommodations MUCH closer to PE than Fort Pierce.

We have used Park N Fly at both MIA and FFL.  Excellent company and they provide frequent parking incentives like free days.  Both locations have convenient shuttle service to the port (Port Everglades) and airpower (MIA).

We live north of Tampa and find that 4.5 to 5 hours of driving time is required (there is always some road construction in progress).  We always add about 30 minutes for a pit/gas/snack stop halfway.  I-95 Traffic around Sarasota can be a bear.  We have done both east and west coast routes and I-75 is the best road and maybe safest road.

Florida hotels double prices during the winter months - some triple.  Its designed to soak the seasonal visitors.  Makes it a challenge for those of us who just want a place for the night.  We have started stopping during summer and shoulder months near Bonita Springs.  Good selection of hotels and restaurants, and its just under 2 hours across Alligator Alley to Port Everglades.  La Quinta Inns apparently do not gouge travelers during winter months as do the other major chains and were able to book the LQI near FFL at the "regular" price for a one-night February stay prior to a cruise.

  • 2 weeks later...

Have used Park N Go for several years and have four reservations pending. Owners The Fairchilds are great people and run a great operation. I am a retired  30 year Police  and on our 76 cruise and have never had any problem with their lot. Get a card and get free day every 10 and Pay in advance(refundable ) as much cheaper than day entry.
