Update re texting hole Anthem

For anyone who recently cruised on Anthem, is the texting hole still there or has it been repaired? I’ve see conflicting posts and suggestions on how to access free texting. We are boarding  on December 1 and deciding whether to purchase internet. I’m hoping to hear from people with direct recent experience.

I believe there's been at least one report that the texting hole had been plugged.

Loophole was closed when they switched from Royal IQ app to current Royal app

Any word on when the new app will add texting on Anthem? (IIRC, only two ships have it as an option at present.)

That's the latest info I have seen as well.   But... I did hear that RCI is/was planning to have it rolled out by the end of the year (I didn't happen to catch which year, though 🙂 )

CEO Fain mentioned that all ships will have the app by the end of 2020 but no word on individual features.

The cruise line has not publicly shared the rollout schedule.

They added Empress to the App last week, but no messaging.

I had lunch with one of the app guys last week.  He was extremely vague on the rollout of the texting feature.

I have the Royal IQ app on my phone. Did not realize I need a different one. I assume I have to load it before I board. Do I get it from the App store?

The Royal IQ app no longer works for any ship.

 

You need the Royal Caribbean app.
