Current Harmony cruise - Coco Cay cancelled

We are currently aboard the Harmony and they just announced the cancellation of the stop at Coco Cay due to weather and we will now stop at Labadee.

Our last two days were sea day then Coco Cay, it is now Labadee then sea day.

Can’t control Mother Nature and I have faith that this decision was made for the safety of all on board.

I would prefer that itinerary!  😉  😄

We were on the November 10 Allure sailing and Cococay was canceled due to weather. We all got future cruise credit relative to the costs of our rooms.   We got the pineapple drinks that they usually sell for $10 on cococay half price on boardwalk - they were surprisingly delicious.   The call to not stop was made that morning so I guess all the preparations had been made.

Would have loved to see all the new things there, but nothing bad about another sea day!  And FCC was unexpected but nice.

Weather? They must be anticipating the cold front coming through Florida to have an effect.

Yep severe weather started here at the coast this afternoon. Local WFTV (Orlando) says re sea conditions "The seas will be dangerous starting late Tuesday evening through Wednesday. High surf and rough conditions with a high risk of rip currents". And temps will be going down to the 60's - boo!

I would prefer high 70's in the Bahamas than 90's in Haiti

More that there is strong winds. The megaship is a giant sail in that kind of wind and there are no tugs to help her into the narrow dock.

Thanks  for the post.  It's a good reminder to all of us that ports can change due to weather and to just go with the flow (be happy for a break from work / normal routine  and time with family and keep it at that).  Most of our party would not mind the least if on our upcoming cruise Coco Cay was skipped, but DS 24 would be disappointed.  I got tickets for the waterpark for me and him.  DH and the other people passed on the waterpark and may just stay on the ship at this port.  We let DS pick the cruise, and the stop at Coco Cay is one of his reasons for picking this particular cruise/itinerary.  (I hope we get to do the stop.  I'm really not much of a cruise person and fear that if Coco Cay doesn't work out, I may be talked into taking and paying for another cruise lol.  There could be worse things, though.)

We missed CoCo Cay on our Navigator cruise due to Dorian.  It was disappointing, but Royal is thinking of the safety for those on the cruise and the workers on CoCo Cay.  As you say, Mother Nature is one of those things not in Royal's control.  That's one of the great things about a cruise ship is they can change locations if weather isn't good.

We missed Coco Cay on our December 16 Mariner sailing. I believe it was high winds that caused us not to be able to dock.   Our itinerary had two stops, not in a row, and we were able to make it on the first day. In my opinion, it is better to miss the island and have full use of the ship than to dock at the island in inclement weather with nothing being opened on board.

Because we were at sea, the main dining room was open for lunch, the casino was open, all the shops were open etc. While it would’ve been nice to spend another day on the island, at least we were not on board a ship with nothing opened.

It was kind of funny, as our original itinerary was Coco Cay, Nassau, a day at sea. Then about two months before sailing it was changed to Coco Cay Nassau, Coco  Cay. And then it ended up going back to the original.

I thought that the pier would ensure that the cruise would never miss the private island. I guess since that pier is not protected in anyway weather makes a big difference

Safety  first but you should have heard/seen the passengers yelling at guest services staff because we missed the stop.
