Guaranteed Inside Stateroom

Recommended Posts

We went with the guaranteed inside option to save quite a bit of money, and we are perfectly content with whichever room we are assigned.  However, just wondering if anyone has done the same and was bumped up in stateroom category?  We are on the March 30th sailing on Brilliance, so we are assuming it will be pretty full.  We are both platinum as well- not sure if that makes a difference or not.

It is possible to get better than the minimum guaranteed category, but the probability is very low.

How do you get the cabin number out of the bar code?

The easiest way is to add the SetSail pass to your wallet on an iPhone. Otherwise, use a bar code reading app. Once assigned (even though it will still just say GTY on the Setsail pass itself), the last 4 digits of the bar code is your cabin number.

If you can swing it, do not get a guarantee inside cabin.  You might have a horrible location with lots of noise if under or above a public space.

Best to consider a good location.  Probably not much more.  I know you aren't fussy- but if you have a bad location it can ruin your vacation.

It was actually a significant savings, at least to us ($400). We are from Michigan, so we will want to soak up as much sun and warmth over spring break as possible. 😊🌞We won’t spend much time at all in the stateroom.

I haven’t yet- thought it might be a bit too early to know. I may try it. Thanks!

Thing is, while you may find your cabin assignment, you can't do anything about it (like move to another cabin in a better location) until RCI makes it official.

How long have you noticed it takes for it to “official” after it shows on the wallet setsail pass? This is our first GTY in a while and it shows there, but not anywhere else.

About the same time as there are no other cabins in that category to move to.

OP, You also need to remember that an "upgrade" in the cruise line's category scheme may not be an upgrade to you due to location and other factors.

Just assume you will be assigned the worst cabin in the guarantee pool and any other cabin may be a plus.
